you got out of your uber straightening your dress. your friends had set you up on a blind date with a boy you were crushing on the whole semester.

*flashback time chicas*

"oh my gosh y/n you're so whipped," elena said as she watched you gaze at caleb for the hundredth time today.

"she's in love elena," maya responded.

"i don't understand how anyone could not love him, he's a literal angel," you sighed, swiveling around to face the girls.

elena and maya shared a very dangerous look.

"if you love him so much, why don't you just ask him out?" maya said.

you almost choked on air.

"me? ask him out?" you said surprised.

"did i stutter?" she replied.

"he probably has a girlfriend, and besides why would he be interested in a literal potato like me?" you said embarrassed.

"you are not a potato, you're gorgeous and you know it," elena said sitting down.

"uh uh not happening."

"then why don't we do it for you?" maya piped up.

*flashback over*

you now stood outside of 'Geppetto's Pizzeria' taking a deep breath before entering.

"hello, welcome to Geppetto's Pizzeria," the waiter said suddenly, making you jump a bit.

"hi, there was a reservation made under the name caleb morales?" you said looking around for him.

"let me just check,"

you stood there anxious. you didn't want to screw up your first date, especially with the guy you had major crush on.

"yes there was a reservation made for table 9" she finally responded.

you thanked her and went to the table, but to your surprise there was no caleb.

"he's probably just running late," you thought

you were surprised he'd even done this in the first place. he must have had some help from elena and maya to know that you had a love for pizza.

10 minutes went by and there was still no sign of caleb, so you decided to call elena, not having his number.

"hey y/n/n," her cheery voice said through the phone.

"hey e, i was just wondering if caleb said anything to you about the date, im here and he's already 10 minutes late," you said worried.

"um sadly no, try asking maya," she said before you hung up.

you messaged maya, but she didn't know either.

your last option was to just wait.

another five minutes went by, before a message from an unknown number popped up on your phone.

'hey y/n this caleb. im not coming lolz i have a girlfriend haha :)'

at this point you felt pathetic.

what else did you really expect? you were about to head out when a boy stopped you.

"can i help you?" you asked frustrated.

"i really help you don't mind but i saw that you were waiting for ages and you look really upset,"

you sighed, "that obvious huh?"

"well actually i got stood up by my date as well, but i've ordered a pizza and i wouldn't want it to go to waste," he smiled, "do you wanna join me?"

you laughed and accepted.

10 minutes later you weren't moping in your bedroom about being stood up, but talking to the boy (who's name you discovered was cameron) and laughing about how being stood up led to something even better.

"how about a cheers to crappy dates," he said, lifting his glass of water to 'clink' with yours.

he ended paying, despite you saying otherwise, and he walked you outside.

"that was extremely fun, thank you for that," you said to cameron

"it was my pleasure y/n, i wish it was longer," he smiled

you thought for a moment, "the night doesn't have to end now, what do you say about walking me home? i don't live too far."

"sure, by the way, if your hand feels heavy i could always hold it for you," he laughed

"that was a terrible pick up line," you said laughing.

the walk back to your house was silent, but peaceful. none of you felt awkward in each others presence.

"thank you cameron, i had loads of fun," you said cheery

"same here. ill never forget the night we met."

you ended up exchanging numbers and he even got a goodnight kiss.

on the cheek of course (;
