chris and matt were stood outside a make up store, waiting for dejah who had been in there for what felt like years. nick was done waiting 5 minutes in, so he made his way over to a thrift shop to have a little wonder. matt was growing impatient too, pacing the entrance back and forth, checking his phone every now and then, "okay, i'm done waiting i'm going in to see what she's doing." sighs chris, making his way through the store. he was met with rows and rows of make up and he was just admiring the products with the cool packaging. he knew it was going to be hard to find her as the store was so big and was kind of packed. but his mind changed once he sees a crazy person with a bunch of make up products filling up their hands. the crazy person being dejah. she stuck out like a sore thumb, "bro, do you need like... help?" he says, chuckling to himself.

dejah glares at him, because shouldn't the answer be easy? of course she needed help, she had 15 different products all piled in her arms, "that would be helpful."

chris walks towards the entrance of the store to pick up a basket. matt wasn't there anymore, meaning he probably wondered off too. he walked back to dejah and as soon as she sees chris holding a basket she sighs of relief, dumping it all in there. "thanks" she huffs, making her way down another isle.

chris follows behind, putting the basket out in front of them for her to hold it, but she ignores him, "take it, i'm not carrying it around for you?"

dejah groans and looks at him before looking at the basket in his hand, "lemme just match my shade and then i'll carry it i guess." she says, grabbing a foundation shade that she thought matched her skin tone, "this one looks good." she twisted open the cap and applied a small amount of the foundation onto her wrist, rubbing it in with her fingers. her hair was getting in her face from the wind as the door was wide open, "can you tie my hair up for me please, i cant tie it up myself because of the foundation on my hands." she groans, looking at the hair tie that was on her wrist.

chris placed the basket onto the floor and grabbed her arm to remove her hair tie from her wrist to use it for tying her hair up. he sectioned her hair into three pieces and began to braid her hair. her hair was soft and silky, smooth making his fingers glide through it with ease. once he got to the end of her hair, he secured it with a hair tie. dejah turned around, shocked, "how the fuck do you know how to braid?" she laughs, pulling her braid to the front, "and braid good?"

"you taught me." he says, picking up the basket. he shoved it into her hands and walked away, not saying another word. she froze for a moment, remembering the day she taught him. she was braiding her own hair when chris asked her how to do it so that when he has kids, he can braid his little girls hair one day. she had completely forgot that she had taught him it. she smiled thinking back on the good times.

she felt terrible having to lie to him, but she couldn't tell him that she was hanging out with the sturniolos, he'd flip out.

she was now the one waiting for matt and chris outside with nick. "you know, chris really does care for you."

"what?" she asks, confused on why they were on the topic of chris right now. she stared at nicks serious face and her nose scrunches up a little bit.

"he may make mistakes and act like he doesn't care but he does." he shrugs, watching matt and chris walk through the door with a bag of clothes that they had found in the thrift shop.

dejah became silent, letting nicks word sink in for a moment. "i saw this and i immediately thought of you, i thought you might like it." explains chris, pulling out a white nike crew neck sweater, passing it to dejah. she looks at nick who just simply smiles as is if to say, i told you. she takes the sweater and she holds it up to take a look at it, "you like it?"

dejah plops her bags onto the floor and puts the sweater on over her shirt, "i love it." she smiles, pulling chris into a hug, "thank you" she says, holding onto him tightly. she just fits perfectly into his chest, it's like she's the missing puzzle piece that just slots right in, perfectly.

when matt dropped dejah off at her house, there was a familiar car down the road that she recognised but she brushed it off as nothing. she twisted the handle to go inside her house, but found it to be locked. she groaned before knocking on the door for nate to let her in. he must of locked it by accident. she hears the sound of footsteps coming towards the door, and the keys rustling. the door knob twisted open, and the person standing there wasn't nate.. it was jude. she knew she was fucked. she was literally wearing a sweater that chris had bought her and she had a bag of makeup in her hand. "ah, i was expecting you dejah!" he says, opening the door wider. dejah walked inside, putting her bags onto the counter. "care to explain why you left matts car?"

dejah gulped, looking at jude who's face was filled with anger. his jaw and fists were clenched as he glared at her, "let me explain okay, i was just picking some makeup from their house ok-"

"no need to lie dejah. nate told me that you were going out for a nice little shopping day with the sturniolos. what's up with you and lying today? first you lied about being at home, then you lie about being sick and then you lie about going to their house.." he says, raising his hands to air quote her, "to pick up some makeup."

dejah begins to breath heavily. her patience with jude was getting thinner and thinner as time went on in their relationship and she was just about done with his bullshit. "what's your problem anyways? i wouldn't of lied if you would just let me hang out with my own friends. but no, i can't even do that!" she shouts, growing angry. her fiery outburst shocked jude. he didn't expect it.

"yeah, i would let you hang out with your friends if you weren't always flirting with chris all the tim-"

"don't you fucking dare say that. you know damn well that i would never, ever fall in love with that man ever again after what he put me through and you know it." she shouts, putting her hands out in frustration, "besides, how could i flirt with him when i'm not even allowed to talk to him either? and i don't want to anyways, trust me."

jude paced the floor, breathing heavily. anger surged throughout his body as he came storming towards her, making dejah flinch, "who's is that sweater? because i know that's new."

"what's it matter to you?"

jude got up and close in dejahs face, "why won't you tell me huh?" he asks, grabbing ahold of her arms, shaking her, "is it chris'?"

"jude, stop. you're hurting me" she shouts, trying to wriggle out of his tight grasp that he had on her. her eyes began to glaze over and she could feel her heart shattering. "it's matts!" she lies, making him let go of her arms. the pain shot through her body like arrows.

jude's emotions led him to unjustly take out his anger on his girlfriend, dejah who had done nothing wrong. when he stepped away from the scene, he realised what he had done and he took a deep breath. "dejah.." he speaks softer than he did just a few seconds ago. if you hadn't of witnessed the things that had just occurred, you would of thought he was sweet and innocent from his voice.

dejahs tears began to stream from her eyes, "i'm fucking done. i can't do thi.." she cries, pausing to sniffle a little bit, "i can't do this anymore jude. i cant."

guilt wrapped itself tightly around jude's conscience. he replayed the scene over and over in his head, regretting it every time. the weight of his words and actions pressed heavily on him, realising his unfair toll on dejah, "please dejah i'm sorry." he says, trying to make amends.

"get the fuck out of my house jude, we're done. we're over." she cries, gripping onto her hair that was still in the same braid that chris had put in her hair. she just wanted chris to walk through the door and beat him up and save her like he did before. but chris wasn't here, and he couldn't save her this time. jude doesn't put up a fight. he storms off towards the door, opening it up wide, "if you wanna throw us away for chris then fine." he says, slamming the door shut.

why was he still going on about chris? this whole argument has nothing to do with him.

she opened the door back up, "there was no 'us' it was just you. you controlled everything, you selfish mother fucker. you laid your hands on me. that's what i'm throwing away." she screams, getting everything off of her chest. a fire ignited in her, giving her the confidence to stand up against him. her powerful words silenced jude, leaving herself feeling impressed by the fact that she actually just silenced big mouth jude. she slammed the door, and she made a run for her bedroom.

chris wastes no time, he didn't even ask matt to pick her up, instead he takes the keys from the side and takes matts car. he knew how to drive as matt had taught him, but he doesn't have a license or anything so he was driving illegally. if he was to get pulled over, he would be fined heavily but it was worth the risk. as he started the car and made his way over to her house, the possibilities that were rushing around his head gave him anxiety. his heart was pounding and he felt uneasy knowing that for whatever reason, dejah needed him. she had the opportunity to message anyone and she choose to message chris. the person she sworn to hate.
his leg was bouncing up and down from the anxiety from the whole situation. he stole matts car, he's driving illegally and dejah needs help. the whole 15 minutes that it took for chris to get to her house, he was in silence. pure silence. he didn't know if that made the situation better or worse, but he did it anyways.

he parked the car outside her house, alerting dejah. before chris even had time to get out of the car and go inside, dejah came running from her door. her sleeves were rolled up, revealing her arms which were red, along with her eyes that were puffy, you could tell that she had been clearly crying. her makeup was smudged, but she was still wearing the nike crewneck that he had bought her. he suddenly got a dรฉjร  vu moment, he had only just dropped her off 20 minutes ago, and now he's picking her up again. she opened the passenger seat door, revealing chris' worried face. she gets in the car and they're both silent for a second before dejah starts to cry. chris hated seeing her cry, it was the worse thing ever. he grabbed her sleeves and begin to roll them down, so that they don't ache while her arms are around him as he re positions her arms so that they're around his waist, his chin resting on the top of her head, "when is it gonna end" she cries, getting tears all over chris' shirt but he didn't care.

hearing those words come out of her mouth, broke chris. he never wants to see her be in that state. he rubs her back to try and calm her down, he used to do it a lot when they were in middle school when she would stress about her parents and school. it was a coping mechanism for the both of them. "the saddest part, was that we could of made it work, if he was actually in love with me. he would of fought for me, but he didn't and that just means that i loved him more than he loved me."

chris knew it was about jude. but his mind flashes back to her red arms and instantly grows mad. he knew that jude had laid hands on her, making his hands ball into fists, "he didn't fight for you dejah, that's the kind of man you want. someone to treat you the way that you deserve to be treated. and i know that i'm not the best at these kind of things either, but trust me when i say that you deserve better."

dejah lifts her head from chris' chest and she just sits there, taking everything in that chris had just said. she was just done with boys, and getting her heart broken all the time. "i think the thing that frustrates me the most is that i threw everything away just to keep him. when he didn't even want me anyways." she speaks, breathing heavily. when she put her thoughts into words, it sounded stupid. chris didn't know how do respond to that last comment, so he started the car up again, making his way back home.

"i'm sorry, chris."

chris stopped at a red light, looking at dejah he could see her crying again. if he wasn't driving right now, he'd pull her in for another hug. "don't say that dejah, you have nothing to be sorry about."

dejah shakes her head in disagreement, "no, i do. i think this is a good time to explain everything. the reason why i ignored the day after you apologised.. is because jude forced me to stop talking to you." she sighs, tears forming in her eyes once again. chris looked at her for a split second before looking back at the road in front of them, "and then he asked me to stop hanging out with everyone, like matt and nick."

just hearing those words come out of her mouth infuriated him. if jude was in the middle of the road that they were driving on, chris wouldn't hesitate to run him over. he couldn't believe that all of chris' pain being caused by dejah ignoring him was all because of jude, "dejah.. i." he says, trying to come up with the right words to say, "i'm, so sorry. i didn't know any of that, that's horrible. he's an absolute dick and i will seriously kill if he lays-" he says, cutting himself off before he finishes his sentence. he didn't want to bring up her red arms, it was way too soon.

dejah sighs and rests her head on the side of her door, taking a glance at the aux cord that was hanging in between the seat, "can i play some music?"

chris looks at dejah and then at the aux, "yeah, of course" he says, focusing on the road so he doesn't get pulled over and arrested. dejah smiles through her tears, plugging the aux cord into her phone. she goes on spotify and starts to play you belong with me by taylor swift

the soft music played in the background, dejah began to hum along to the lyrics to take her mind off of the whole situation. chris smiles as he watches her hum along mid way through his driving. it got the chorus bit, and chris began to sing quietly to the lyrics, shocking dejah. she wipes away her tears and begins to laugh. chris shortly after joining in, but still continuing to sing. dejah joined in and the pair got louder. they were practically shouting the lyrics. the chorus ended and the pair sit there in comfortable silence, "jude would of never of done this. in fact, he actually said that taylor was 'ass' when we first met soo.." she laughs, immediately regretting it, "sorry, i didn't meant to bring him up."

chris laughs, "it's fine. just some taylor songs are good" he says, rolling his eyes.

dejah laughs, "i knew it!"
