Travis was trying to get out of bed. Trying being the key word.
But Taylor had other plans.
"Nooo," she groaned, tightening her grip around his waist as he attempted to shift away from her. "Don't go."
He chuckled, his deep morning voice making her stomach flip. "Baby, I just have to grab my phone."
"You don't," she argued, burrowing her face against his chest, her voice muffled against his hoodie. "It's not important."
"Could be," he teased. "What if Jason's texting me? What if there's a Kelce family emergency?"
She lifted her head just enough to shoot him a sleepy glare. "The only emergency right now is that my human pillow is trying to leave me."
Travis let out a deep laugh, his body shaking slightly beneath her. "Leave you?" He smirked, tugging her closer. "I hate to break it to you, baby, but I'm still in bed."
"Not for long," she mumbled dramatically.
It was rare that she got like this-so needy for him. Most days, she was up before him, already moving through her morning routine, always working on something. Even when she had a day off, she wasn't the type to lounge around for hours. She always had something to write, something to plan, somewhere to be.
But every once in a while, she had these days. The ones where all she wanted was to be wrapped up in him, doing absolutely nothing at all.
And, honestly? Travis lived for these days.
"You're being extra clingy today, huh?" he asked, rubbing her back lazily.
She hummed in agreement, not moving an inch.
Travis grinned. "Alright, what's your plan here, Miss Clingy?"
She sighed dramatically, shifting just enough to rest her chin on his chest. "You don't leave this bed. Ever."
He raised an eyebrow. "Ever?"
"Ever." She poked his chest. "We live here now."
Travis let out a deep, exaggerated sigh. "Damn. Guess I should start forwarding my mail here."
"Mhm." She nodded, fully serious. "This is our home now. Just you, me, and the blankets."
He hummed, pretending to consider it. "Sounds nice."
"It is nice." She pressed a lazy kiss to his shoulder. "You're warm. I like it here."
His heart swelled. He reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers beneath the covers. "You're cute when you're all sleepy like this."
She smiled against his hoodie. "I'm always cute."
He laughed. "Yeah, you are."
For a few moments, they just lay there, wrapped up in each other. Taylor could hear the soft hum of the heater, the distant sound of the city outside. But nothing felt as important as this-the warmth of Travis's body, the slow rise and fall of his chest, the steady beat of his heart beneath her cheek.
"This is the best morning ever," she murmured, eyes fluttering shut again.
Travis grinned. "Because of me?"
"Mhm." She nodded sleepily.
"Damn right." He tightened his hold around her, pressing a kiss to her temple. "Alright, angel, I won't move. But only because I love you."
"Mhm," she mumbled. "Love you more."
Travis scoffed, shifting just enough to flip them over so that she was pinned beneath him. She squeaked in surprise, laughing as he grinned down at her.
"Say that again," he challenged.
She smirked. "I love you more."
He shook his head. "Impossible."
"Very possible."
"Nope." He leaned down, pressing soft, lazy kisses to her jawline. "I win."
She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Travis."
"Taylor." He kissed her again, this time on the tip of her nose.
She sighed happily. "See? This is why we need to stay in bed forever."
Travis chuckled, rolling onto his side and pulling her against him again. "You're lucky I love you."
"Mhm." She nuzzled into his chest, already halfway back to sleep.
And just like that, the rest of the world didn't matter-because, for now, this bed, these blankets, and the warmth of each other were all they needed.
