Monday, 10th of February, 08:42 PM. Mikumo's Dorm Room.
Well, yesterday was... not ideal, let's just say. Getting hit in the head by a solid marble bench was certainly not part of his plans that day, but hey, the universe was random!
Luckily, the late-night/early-morning shoppers who watched the scene quickly called the authorities and sent Mikumo back to UA, and into Recovery Girl's Nurses Office. Turns out, the bench only broke a few of his bones and didn't do that much damage to his cranium, just a slight fracture.
(It was not slight, but Recovery Girl healed it anyway! And boy, did she need a vacation from the amount of times Mikumo was in there with injuries like that.)
Although, it wasn't long until they found out about what happened. Let's just say that he got an earful from Miss Kayama, an irritated death stare from Yuu, and Katsuki, oh god, Katsuki...
"Yami,"
Mikumo could already feel the dark aura radiating off of him.
"Can we have a little chat?"
He shivered just thinking back to those moments. Afterwards, Katsuki refused to let Mikumo out of his sight for the whole rest of the day. It was only until, again, at eight-thirty did Katsuki pass out, giving Mikumo the chance to do some research online about the gift that he found at the mall.
But as said before in whatever unpublished oneshot the author still has in her many drafts that she can't keep track of to save her life, whoever was in charge of fate and the universe had some sort of burning hatred towards him, because it was only then did he find out that the store he got it from had closed down due to the villain attack.
Fine, fair enough, he decided he would just see if there were any other of those stores in the area, and apparently, they had just gone out of business completely! Then, he looked up the product itself, trying to see if any other stores sold it.
But surprise, surprise! The gift just so happened to be discontinued that following morning.
So that was just the icing on the cake, wasn't it?
Mikumo quietly groaned to himself, gently adjusting the bandage wrapped around his head, but wincing at the pain and aching of his body, while still trying to remain quiet for the sleeping blonde's head in his lap.
He had been taking over the still-injured Mikumo all day, making him feel all the more guilty since he couldn't get that gift for him. However, that just meant that Mikumo had to work even harder to make Katsuki's Valentine's Day surprise perfect!
Which brought him to the next stage of his plan; a card!
With the help of the internet, Yuu, and Asui's scrapbooking skills, Mikumo had successfully made the perfect card, which was carefully placed in a drawer in his desk, in a ziplock bag as well, since even he didn't know what the hell was going on in those drawers, and he wasn't going to take any chances.
With the actual card out of the way, that just left him with the writing inside the actual card, the main course.
But since he couldn't really write that well since, you know, a goddamn bench was thrown at him and toppled right on top of his body, and he didn't want to risk any mistakes going onto his perfect card, he just decided to plan it out on his phone, even though his arms ached like hell.
Picking up his phone with one hand, he carefully pulled up the blanket loosely draped over Katsuki with the other, and then rested it on the side of his head. He opened up his notes app, staring at the screen as the blue textbox flashed, and he realised something.
He had no idea what to write.
Mikumo resisted the urge to facepalm and instead opted for simply sighing to himself. He looked back at Katsuki, lying on his bed so peacefully with his head cushioned by Mikumo's lap.
There was so much he wanted to tell him, so much he wanted to say, yet he could never bring the words up to his lips. So many things he had always wanted to finally let him know, so many-
. . .
Mikumo knew what to write.
He typed as fast as he could with one hand, the words practically flowing out onto the screen, and before he knew it, it was done.
The perfect card message.
