"Audree, lower on the grand pliΓ©. Maintain second position," Coach Callahan's voice echoed throughout the room. It was a cool 2024 night in Sulphur Springs, Louisiana, with the clock striking 9:51 pm. While most kids would be getting ready for bed or relaxing on the couch, the lights at Sulphur Springs Dance Studio remained on, showcasing a full session in progress. The senior company classes were underway, and an intermediate ballet class was also in session. The group of dancers stood in line at one of the two bars, holding onto the handles and practicing their drills.
"Great job, Lyla," Coach praised, but before he could continue, another coach entered Studio C. It was Coach Sophia, the head of the senior company, holding an envelope in her hands.
"This is from The Spotlight Dance Magazine, for the Elites," the 24-year-old informed. Coach Callahan nodded and took the envelope from her. He examined the well-put-together enfold before locking eyes with Sophia once again.
"Is Isaiah here?" Coach Callahan inquired.
"I believe so," Coach Sophia replied.
"Alright, please give this to him," Coach Callahan instructed, handing the envelope back to her. Coach Sophia nodded.
"Thank you," Coach Callahan expressed his gratitude as she made her way towards the door. Coach Sophia smiled at him before exiting the room, already hearing Callahan's voice resuming its lively presence.
Coach Sophia arrived at Studio B and opened the door to find the familiar scene of dancers gathered in a circle, talking and laughing with their teacher. She knew she was in the right place.
"Isaiah?" Coach Sophia called out, causing the girls to turn their attention towards her. Coach Lotus stepped forward in response.
"It's from The Spotlight Dance Magazine," Sophia said, holding up the envelope. Coach Lotus smiled and approached her, taking the cover and examining it before checking the time.
"Ladies, I will see you all tomorrow, Yes?" he said. The girls nodded, except for one.
"I can't make it. I have to get a physical and get new headshots," Landry explained.
"Then I'll see you on Tuesday, Lans," Coach Lotus smiled. They exchanged a knowing look before Landry and the rest of the girls left the studio room.
Coach Lotus peered out of the door and shouted, "Are the elites still here?"
"I think there getting ready to leave," a Coach replied from a distance.
"Tell them to come to studio B," he instructed.
"Sure," the Coach called back. It didn't take long before Coach Lotus heard the sound of numerous footsteps, conversations, and laughter drawing near. The 14 dancers entered the studio, each carrying there competitive team backpack and wearing the 'Sulphur Springs Dance Studio' merchandise.
"Alright, dancers, we've received an exciting update from The Spotlight Dance Magazine. It looks like they've made their decision," Coach Lotus exclaimed, basking in the ecstatic screams of the teenagers.
In a remarkable turn of events, The Sulphur Springs Dance Studio's Elite Competition Team had been presented with an extraordinary opportunity by none other than The Spotlight Dance Magazine β a renowned publication that boasts unparalleled success and popularity within the dance world. They have extended an invitation to one of there dancers to be featured in their prestigious magazine and be interviewed for their YouTube channel, which boasts an impressive subscriber count of over 20 million. The teenagers displayed their moves to the Magazine directors, utilizing it to determine their fortunate dancer.
Coach chuckled as he started to unseal the envelope, but abruptly halted himself.
"Keep in mind, only one of you will receive this opportunity. I can't dictate your emotions, but let's be happy for each other, because you're all stars, MY stars," he clarified. The dancers nodded, their faces beaming with joy.
Coach Lotus proceeded to unfold the envelope, extracting the enclosed note card. The anticipation filled the entire room as the 14 dancers joined hands, forming a tight bond.
"Matt, Heritage, River, Saylor, Emmie, Camry, Dakota, Indiana, Abby, Rylann, Parkyr, Zoey, Harper, and Savannah. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Spotlight Dance Magazine has chosen...," he unveiled the contents of the note card.
A grin spread across his face, and he uttered, "Miss Zoey Campbell"
A cacophony of pure screams erupted, engulfing Zoey in a tight group hug from everyone around, except for Harper, surprisingly. Within her, a mix of emotions stirred, an unusual sensation for her. She genuinely felt happy for Zoey, yet there was a conflicting part of her. When Zoey personally approached and embraced her tightly, Harper mustered a forced smile. Forced? It didn't sit well with the 17-year-old.
"Alright, Zozo. Tomorrow, you'll be flying out to New Jersey, okay?" Coach Lotus declared. Zoey nodded, her lips trembling as tears welled in her eyes. Her friends enveloped her in their comforting arms.
"This is the beginning of your journey in the dance world. Zoey Campbell will be known by many," he announced. Zoey quickly sought solace in his embrace.
"Text your Mom and ask her to come here," Coach whispered as he pulled away. Zoey nodded and retrieved her phone, tears streaming down her face.
"Thank you all for participating in the audition process. I expect to see you'll back here tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening," Coach Lotus concluded as the teenagers left studio B.
Just a few minutes later, the entire Campbell family walked into the room. Their eyes immediately fell upon Zoey, who was in tears, and concern washed over their faces.
"Worriedly, Sarah asked, "Honey, what's wrong?"
With a smile, Coach Lotus reassured them, "Those are actually happy tears."
The family raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"You all know that the Elites had the chance to audition for The Spotlight Dance Magazine," Coach Lotus explained, and the family nodded in understanding.
"We just received the results, and..." Coach Lotus trailed off, gesturing for Zoey to continue.
"It's me," Zoey wailed.
"OH MY GOD!" Sarah screamed, rushing to hug her daughter tightly, with her husband joining in.
Ben smiled gladly, "So proud of you, Zoey!"
Sarah kissed her daughter's cheek, and Wyatt gave his twin sister a big hug, followed by Griffin.
"Tomorrow, Sarah and Zoey will be flying out to New Jersey, to one of there film studios," Coach Lotus announced. "I wish you both the best of luck while you're there." He addressed the ladies.
"Thank you," Sarah replied, hugging Coach Lotus politely.
"Your welcome, Mrs. Sarah," Coach Lotus smiled. "Have a great night. I'll send you all more information about the trip."
The five of them waved goodbye as they left studio B, but Griffin turned back for a moment.
"Hey Coach, did Harper already leave?" he asked.
"Yeah, man," Coach Lotus confirmed. Griffin nodded skeptically before finally exiting.

Zoey strolled through the hallway of Sulphur Springs High School, donning a pair of plush grey joggers, Nike blazers, and a white crop top. With her lunchbox and Stanley securely held in her hands, her friends remained by her side.
The second lunch of the day arrived at the Cafeteria. Zoey took a seat at a rectangular table, which soon became occupied by both boys and girls.
Everyone started unpacking their lunches and digging in, savoring the deliciousness before them. Their mouths were busy with bites and their hands were occupied with food, but amidst the munching, Zoey remained still. She had a knowing smile on her face, for she was aware that her pick-up was imminent.
Today was the day. Zoey was planning to fly out and tape an interview with the most prominent Dance Magazine in the world.
Lake, curious as ever, couldn't help but ask, "Why aren't you eating, Zoey?"
She replied, "I'm about to leave."
"For?" Lake inquired further.
Zoey's eyes gleamed as she revealed, "I'm flying out to film."
Before Lake could react, a sudden burst of energy disrupted their conversation. Racing towards the table was none other than Madden Wright, Zoey's cherished guy friend. One of the most popular boys in the grade.
He inquired, full of anticipation, "Any snacks?"
"I don't have any food," Zoey replied.
Madden scoffed, "You're selling, Zoey."
"I was capping," She grinned as she unzipped her lunchbox. Zoey swiftly listed the contents, "King size Oreos, Original Pringles, a shake, sub sandwich, and I think like a salad." Zoey mentioned, as she raised a black container.
"Where's the beef sticks?" Madden inquired eagerly.
"They're with my brother," Zoey replied casually.
Madden let out a frustrated groan before walking away. However, within seconds, he hurried back to grab the Oreos, causing Zoey to burst into laughter as she neatly returned the rest of her belongings to her lunchbox.
"Hey, are you Zoey Campbell?" a teacher asked. Zoey acknowledged with a nod.
"You're leaving for the day," the teacher informed. Zoey nodded again, rose from her seat, and took hold of her lunchbox and Stanley.
"Bye, Zoey!" the table of kids chimed.
Zoey waved farewell, her departure from the lunchroom imminent. She spun around and caught sight of Madden rising from his chair, his finger directed at her while wearing a smile. In response, she returned the gesture with a mischievous grin before making her way down to the front office where she found her Mom waiting.
"Hope you have an amazing day," said the lady at the front desk. Sarah and Zoey smiled, exited the office, and left the building.
Sarah enveloped her daughter in an affectionate embrace, "All your things are already in the car. We're gonna head to the airport!"
Zoey acknowledged her mother's words with an enthusiastic nod.
Lost in a wave of exultation, Sarah gushed, "I'm so proud of you, Sweetie," With boundless joy, she planted a tender kiss upon Zoey's rich brunette locks, igniting a radiant smile upon the young girl's face.

Griffin settled himself at his desk, immersed in the fourth period of the day, an English class known as ELAR, which he happened to share with his girlfriend, Harper. However, it was Harper herself who occupied Griffin's thoughts. She seemed to awaken with an unfavorable disposition towards him today. Although Griffin was well aware of Harper's knack for sarcasm, which he adored about his queen, something felt slightly amiss.
Observing Harper shut her textbook and retrieve her phone, signifying the completion of her assignment and the onset of free time, Griffin seized this opportunity to delve into her recent demeanor. He swiftly pulled out his phone and selected Harper's contact.
Griffin
lovey?
are you okay?
Griffin witnessed Harper's action as she unlocked her phone and checked the message notification, but to his astonishment, she swiftly returned to her home screen, ignoring the message.
Observing Harper's perplexing behavior, Griffin, with a raised eyebrow, made another attempt.
Griffin

However, it was at that moment when he ultimately received a reply.
Harper

Griffin

Though, Griffin easily noticed that she wasn't doing well, it was clear to him.
Griffin

Harper

Griffin

Harper

At that moment, Griffin pondered within his own mind.
Griffin

Harper's sudden act of forcefully slamming down her phone on the desk sent a shockwave through the entire class. The abruptness of her action caught everyone off guard, prompting them to divert their attention towards her. Rising from her seat, she swiftly retrieved a bathroom pass, causing a sense of curiosity to ripple among her classmates. Without uttering a word, Harper swiftly made her way out of the classroom. As the students exchanged puzzled glances, the teacher's gaze shifted from one bewildered face to another, mirroring the collective astonishment in the room.
"I'll go check on her," Cici declared, rising from her desk.
"Please do so, Ciara," the teacher responded, resuming her typing on the computer.
Cici exchanged a glance with Griffin, who shrugged, prompting her to nod and exit the classroom.

Sarah and Zoey exited their Uber, basking in the radiant sun that illuminated their skin. Having accomplished their journey to the airport and embarked on their flight to New Jersey, they were no strangers to the destination. However, an exciting novelty awaited them as they were about to witness the MediaMix film studio for the very first time.
Sarah opened the door, and the two entered. They were immediately greeted by a subtle gentleman.
"Hi ladies. Are you two Zoey and Sarah?" The man asked kindly.
"We are," Sarah smiled, glancing at Zoey, who also grinned .
"Well, It's a pleasure to meet you both. I'm Noah, I work for The Spotlight Dance Magazine," He pointed to his shirt, displaying the dazzling logo of the magazine company.
"Zoey, Honey, We are so excited to have you with us. The person that will interview you today, My brother Everett, was just raving about how much he loved you at the dance show," Noah explained. Zoey's cheeks turned rosy while Sarah displayed a gentle beam.
"Well, If you two would just follow me, I can escort you too where we will be filming," Noah signaled, and the trio proceeded down the corridor.
The stroll proved to be quite entertaining as Zoey's gaze swiftly shifted from one photograph to another displayed on the walls. Each image portrayed a dancer, either in the form of a silhouette or a painting. It was still difficult to fathom that Zoey herself was the esteemed spotlight of the year in 2024. This held great significance for her.
Finally, the three reached their destination and Noah opened the door. Zoey's eyes widened instantly. The studio was incredibly spacious, with multiple cameras focused on a cozy interview set and numerous lights illuminating the area. She observed a multitude of set crew members diligently adjusting all the equipment.
"Alright, everybody, the star has arrived," Noah yelled as the three approached. "Everyone, this is the beautiful Zoey Campbell, Our 2024 spotlight of the year."
Zoey's face lit up with a wide smile as the crew showered her with applause, cheers, and admiration.
"And we cannot forget about her Mom, everyone this is the lovely Sarah Campbell," Noah shouted.
Sarah greeted the set crew with a wave and a smile, while the sound of applause resonated throughout the studio.
"Alright, Zoey. You're gonna head to the dressing room's and change into your clothes, Yes?" Noah noticed Sarah clutching a lengthy garment bag, to which Zoey agreed with a nod.
"By the way, when you're on the interview set, you don't have to wear any shoes. It's your choice. I understand that heels can be quite uncomfortable," Noah said with a smile. Zoey chuckled and nodded before a set manager escorted her out of the studio.
"Mrs. Campbell, if you prefer, you can simply sit with the set crew," Noah gestured before Sarah settled into a comfortable seat the crew provided.

As Zoey entered inside the studio, the sound of her flip flops clacking filled the air. She donned a captivating swiss tie backless ruffle hem dress in a delightful baby blue hue, while her flowing hair and subtle makeup enhanced her appearance.
"Love, you look amazing," Sarah complimented her daughter as she made her way onto the interview set.
Noah chimed in, affirming, "Indeed, you are gorgeous. Zoey, please take a seat in the chair on your left," he directed, and she complied.
Zoey kicked off her flip flops, feeling the soft rug beneath her bare feet, before playfully tossing her shoes to her Mom, who caught them effortlessly as if she had anticipated it.
In that moment, the cosmetology crew approached Zoey, adjusting her makeup and hair, eliciting a joyful smile from her.
"Not sure where my brother is," Noah remarked, glancing at the time. He wore bulky headphones on his head, his equipment close at hand.
Just as Noah contemplated his next move, a voice burst into the studio exclaiming, "I'm here! I'm here!"
"Took you long enough, Ev!" Noah exclaimed, slightly teasing.
"I know, I know," Everett admitted as he set down his belongings.
"Apologies for my tardiness," Everett apologized sincerely as he approached Sarah, extending his hand for a handshake.
"Sarah Campbell," she said, beaming.
"You're truly charming, Sarah. It's a pleasure to meet you," Everett replied with a smile. Turning his attention to the interview set, he couldn't help but be awestruck, his mouth agape, upon laying eyes on Zoey.
"So your the little fire cracker I saw at the dance show," Everett beamed. Zoey exchanged a knowing smile before they embraced in a warm hug. The cosmetology crew then shifted their focus to Everett, who sat across from Zoey.
"Alright, beautiful, I will just be asking you questions the whole time," Everett stated, receiving a nod of agreement from Zoey. As the cosmetology crew finished up with Everett and hurriedly scurried away, he gave Zoey a thumbs up, which she eagerly reciprocated. Another thumbs up from Everett signaled the set crew to make their final adjustments before the cameras rolled.

"Hello, everyone! Welcome back to The Spotlight Dance Magazine YouTube channel. I'm Everett Kook, and I have the incredible pleasure of sitting here with our spotlight of the year, the one and only Zoey Campbell from Sulphur Springs, Louisiana," Everett exclaimed, punctuating his introduction with a flourish of jazz hands. The cameras pivoted to Zoey, who radiated a genuine smile as the crew erupted in applause and cheers for her.
"Okay, Miss Zoey, let's start from the beginning. What made you start dancing? What made you feel that dance was right for you?" Everett asked.
"Well, my mom used to dance when she was little, and she loved it so much that she wanted to put me in dance if she had a daughter," Zoey explained.
Everett inquired, "Was ballet your first class you ever took?"
Zoey smiled and replied, "Yes, ballet was my first class, but I also did Acro."
"That's great! When did you start competing in dance?" Everett asked.
"I started competing when I was 4," Zoey answered.
"So, Everyone I ask always has a funny reaction to this question, and I love it. Do you remember your first competitive solo?" Everett inquired.
"Oh god," Zoey groaned as Everett and the crew burst into laughter.
"I think my first solo was like this patriotic type themed dance. The song was like the 'I'm proud to be an american' thing," Zoey recalled.
"Yeah," Everett nodded, chuckling.
"And my dad is really into country singers, so he loved that solo.
