Kim's POV

People are out to get me. Kill me. And I'm horrified.

But I trust my brothers.

Ever since I came here, I've been growing less and less afraid. But these flashbacks haunt me all the time. If something happens, it could be a trigger and bring back the old and afraid Kim.

The one who was too afraid to step outside because of her step father.

What if he is in this whole business. What if he is the one who put the picture there. My hands get sweaty just thinking about him being alive, watching me and just waiting for the right moment to hurt me.

But no I can't think like that. The police themselves told me he never made it out of the car.

I'm safe.

I look in my closet for something to wear for today. Grandma invited me and Bella to go out for ice-cream. It'll be nice. Plus Bella will meet a part of my family and I'll get a chance to bond with my grandmother more.

I grab out a pair of jeans and a soft button up sweater. It's apart of the clothes my brother ordered for me. I'm so grateful, I wouldn't have known a month ago that I'd be surrounded by people who actually love me.

I change really quick and snap on a necklace. I hear a ding sound and walk towards my phone. I pick it up and see a message from Bella.

Bella - "Girl I'm so excited! Can't wait to meet your grandma. I'll be over in a few minutes."

I'm more nervous about how my brothers are going to react to Bella arriving here.

I grab my phone and pepper spray and slide it into my pant pockets. James told me I have to bring it with me, it's the only way I can actually go. That includes bodyguards following me everywhere now. But he said nobody will even notice they're there, I'll see that for myself.

I walk downstairs and see my brothers eating at the table.

"Good morning Schwester" Oliver shouts at me, flipping some pancakes.

"What's that mean?" I ask him, pulling out a chair and sitting between Liam and James.

He grabs the pan and a plate and puts the plate down in front of me, Slipping two pancakes on it.

"It means sister in German." He replies winking at me and I laugh.

"Do you guys even speak German?" I ask him and he raises his eyebrows at me smiling. I look over to James and he just looks down at his paperwork.

"Wait, how many languages do you guys speak?" I ask Oliver turning back to him.

"Well, we learned German, French, Italian, and Spanish." Oliver says. He walks to the sink and puts the pan in the water.

"I want to learn!" I tell him before thinking of something else, "I also want to learn how to shoot a gun." I add.

Liam and Leo cough on their food and James stares at me. Oliver turns around in shock.

"Fuck no." Leo quickly says.

James shakes his head at me and I frown.

"Why not? You guys learned how to shoot, and I bet at a young age." I say to him and he sighs.

"Kimberly Jones, it's dangerous. Shooting and handling a gun isn't a game, It's a matter of life or death and I don't want to see you get hurt because I allowed you to use one." James responds and I pout.

"But if I learn how to use a gun and have one, I can defend myself from anything bad. I know some bad people are after me and they'd never see it coming!"

"Kim, the answers no." He concludes and goes back to looking at his paperwork.

This is so unfair. I want to be able to protect them and myself too. Bodyguards aren't always going to be everywhere I go.

I don't want to be weak anymore, I want to learn how to fight back.

The doorbell rings and everybody looks confused and alert.

"Fine." I say getting up from my chair. "That's Bella. She's coming with Me and grandmother today." They look speechless and I just start walking away.

Hearing footsteps behind me, I see Oliver.

He grins sheepishly at me.Β

Of course is he going to come with me to make sure it's nothing bad.

I walk towards the door but Oliver pulls me back and opens the door first. "Well hi there Bella. Nice to meet you, I'm one of Kims brothers." He greets Bella and she smiles back at him shaking hands.

Bella walks in and we both hug each other. "You had me so concerned the other day. People said they saw you crying in the hallway and leaving fast with Leo." She whispers to me.

"Yeah uh sorry, we just found out a relative passed away." I tell her and she nods her head. I have the worst lies, a relative passed away? I'm glad she didn't ask any questions because I wouldn't have had a good answer.

Oliver raises his eyebrows at me and I shrug.

"Well we're just eating breakfast, why don't you join us. I made extra pancakes!" Oliver beams and walks ahead. Me and Bella follow behind.

β€”β€”β€”β€”

We are all eating pancakes at the table and It's awkward. Bella looks so nervous eating her pancakes and Leo isn't helping staring at her annoyed.

"So Bella, I hear you and Kim have the same classes together?" James announces and Bella nods her head nervously.

"Yeah um, we have just a few classes together." She says and James listens.

"Yeah, and she was also the friend who left Kim to dance while Kim got assaulted by a guy upstairs." Leo snickers and I grow angry.

James stares at Leo like he is going to kill him. And Oliver shakes his head in disappointment. Liam just doesn't care about anything going on right now. I need his energy.

"Leo, zip your zipper. She didn't know, and I don't blame her. She wouldn't have left me if she knew what was going to happen." I protested.

Bella shakes her head softly and sighs. "No no, I do have a part in the blame. It is somewhat my fault and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left her." she says to everyone and we all sit in silence.

"Leo, go clean up the basement from yesterday's activities. Surely you can do that without commenting." James demands and Leo huffs in annoyance. He pushes himself up and stomps out of the room.

"And as for You and Bella, Grandmother is outside. Remember what I said Kim. Be careful." He tells me and I nod quickly before we both walk out of the room.

β€”β€”β€”β€”

Grandma, Bella, and I all sit down at a booth in the corner of the place waiting for our milkshakes.

We went to a diner that grandma went to all the time with father back then. It's small but everyone here is so nice.

Bella and grandma have a conversation about their favorite foods. They look like they love each other already. I guess there is something about Bella that makes everyone want to be her friend.

I stare at them in awe and start looking around the diner. My eye stops on two men in casual dad outfits sitting reading the newspaper.

Who reads the newspaper?

I keep staring at them until one of them says something to the other and looks up at me. Are these the bodyguards that my brother said were so undercover?

I start giggling to myself until Bella stares at me weirdly and I turn back my attention.

"So, Kim's grandma-"

"Call me Jane. After all that is my name." My grandma winks at us and we laugh.

"Okay Jane." Bella starts, "I never knew you were so cool! If Kim would have told me how amazing you were from the beginning, I would've loved to meet you sooner." She tells Grandma.

Grandma turns red and I think she is blushing. Oh wow, a Point for Bella.

"Aw, thank you. You're such a sweet girl. You and Kim sound like great friends. But now, let's talk about boys." My grandma grins and we both laugh again.

"Oh boy grandma. Aren't you young hearted." I joke and she laughs.

"This grandma still got some energy left in her. Also, this family isn't exactly full of females." She adds and I nod in agreement.

Basically all our cousins and our whole family are boys is what grandma told me.

Grandma and I were the lucky ones.

"Well I did meet this one boy." Bella comments and we both turn to her in interest. Of course I know who she is talking about. That boy she liked but never told me his name.

"His name is Adrian. He is very nice, kind, and gives great kisses." She tells us nervously and I smile at her.

"My Bella all grown up." I say wiping a fake tear. She whispers shut up and playfully kicks me underneath the table.

"Well, it looks like you guys sound perfect together, But you can never be too sure. Just don't get too comfortable until you know more about him. A man can say he loves you one second, but stabs you behind the back another." My grandma tells Bella raising an eyebrow and we're both speechless.

Damn my grandma is very cool.

Bella smiles widely and puts a hand on grandmas shoulder. She turns to face me. "Can I keep your grandma?" She asks and we burst out laughing, all three of us.

"Now my daughter, are you interested in any boys? I promise I won't tell your brothers. We all damn well know how they'd react."Β  She whispers.

I freeze up for a bit.

She called me her daughter.

I mean yeah I'm her granddaughter but I guess hearing the word daughter shocks me. I haven't heard that word in a long time.

I chuckle and shake my head. "No boys granny. I'm not really interested right now. Too many things going on." I tell her and she nods.

"Well, you have time. Just make sure to tell me when you do." She smiles sympathetically and I smile back.

Our milkshakes have arrived and gosh is mine wonderful.

I haven't tasted anything this good before. I don't even remember the last time I had some ice cream.

Would you believe me if I said this is my first time trying a milkshake?

"So how's the milkshakes darlings?" Grandma questions.

"It's the best thing I've ever had!" I reply with my mouth full.

"Jane, this is the best milkshake ever! You have to take us more places you have been next time." Bella praised and grandma pats Bella on the shoulder, nodding.

We all finished our milkshakes and we are extremely full. This has been the best day I've had in a long time.

We said our goodbyes to Bella as her mom picked her up from the diner.

Me and granny walked outside waiting for my ride to get here.

"Look hunny. Don't ever be afraid to call me or text me. I'll always be available." She tells me, hugging me.

"Ive been recently informed of what has been going on. It's horrible, and I wish you didn't have to go through it. Your brothers love you very much and are doing everything they can to protect you. And I love you too, don't forget that. Us girls got to stick together right?" She tells me and I laugh with her.

"Of course granny. We'll stick together." I hesitate, " and I love you guys too."

She stops laughing and turns to me with tears in her eyes. She pulls me in for another hug and this time doesn't let go. She needs this hug, we both do.

I start crying with her and the next thing you know, the car pulls up. The drivers waiting for me to get in.

We pull apart and wipe our tears away.

"I want you to know, your father would be so proud of who you are today. Because I sure as hell am." She grins.

"I'm sorry, me crying must make me look so stupid and weak." I sniffle wiping more tears away.

"People don't cry because they're weak. They cry because they've been strong for so long." She smiles sympathetically stroking my cheek and the tears stop.

"Thank you. You have been more of a mother to me than my own ever was." I tell her.

She looks me in the eyes for a few seconds after I say that, silence overwhelms us. But her eyes say more than words ever could right now.

We both say our goodbyes and hug one final time before I get in the car and leave.

______

I get home and it's pretty late.

I meet Oliver in the living room sitting on the couch with his phone.

I walk over and sit next to him slouching back and relaxing. He puts his phone down and does the same.

"So, how was your day?" He asks me and I smile looking up at the ceiling.

"It was epic." I tell him and he chuckles.

"That's great, though you must be exhausted. Go to bed, We'll continue this talk in the morning."

I yawn just as he mentions bed. "But I wanna stay and talk to you." I respond sluggishly.

"Like I said, we'll talk in the morning." He smiles kissing me on my forehead. "Now go to bed. You have school tomorrow." He announces walking out of the room.

I internally fake gag thinking about going to school.

Well, now there goes my tiredness.
