“Are you sleepy, miss?” He asked with his eyes admiring the way her hair got tangled up with her jhumka and the baby hairs sticking on her forehead.

“Aakhir kar hum pahuch hi gaye. Nahi to mujhe nhi lga rha ki hum log aaj pahuch bhi payenge vo bhi tumhari ess so-called driving skills se.” Meera resorted sarcastically with a smirk. Saru was suppressing her laugh on seeing Siddarth’s reaction.

“Ab tum bhi?” Siddarth asked when he saw Saru's expression, who has now covered her mouth with her hand to hide her smile.

Upon hearing him. She removed her hand from her mouth, “Aree, aap to bura maan gaye.  Main to bas maze le rahi thi.” She said innocently, playing coy.

“Acha acha Mujhe pata hai ki driving ke dauran tum dono ki dosti ho gayi hai, lekin uska ye bilkul bhi matlab to nahi hai ki ab tum dono yahi bahar hi khade rahe aur baate karo, plus mujhe ignore. She paused then started again….

“Ab chalo bhi tum dono.  Nahi to place overcrowded ho jayegi!!”

“Ha ha chalo bhai, waise bhi kahan aake phas gaya main en do girls ke saath vo bhi shopping ke liye. Like, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!!!” Siddarth thought in his mind and silently cursed himself for agreeing with the girl's plan.

They were rummaging through the kurti section. It had been half an hour when Saru noticed his uninterested, annoyed face. She took steps towards him, who was standing a few feet away from them.

“Agar aap bore ho rahe hai to you can help me to choose the dresses.”

“Only if you don't mind.” She said, said.

Suddenly someone came behind. “Oh really??

“Only you, huh??”

“Why not me??” Meera teased.

Mujhe pta hai ki tum dono ka kuch scene chal rha hai.” Meera exclaimed, her eyebrows furrowed and lips twitching, and her eyes were on Siddarth and her friend Saru suspiciously.

Hearing her, he stood there unblinking, trying to process what he had just been told, although after a few moments, when he processed the implications of her words. He composed himself and cleared his throat.

“What!?”

“No way,” he blurted out, then laughed as if she said something funny.

“Meera, it's not like that. Hum dono ke beech aisa vaisa kuch bhi nahi hai.” Saru explained.

“Tumhe na koi misunderstanding ho gayi hai. Mein to bas unse—” Meera interrupted Saru.

“Swear on me ki tum dono ke beech aisa kuch bhi nhi hai. Kyuki agar mujhe pta chla ki ye khadoos aadmi mera future jiju hai. Tab to main khud hi mar jaungi aur mujhe zeher ki jaroorat hi nhi padegi. ” She said resorted dramatically; it was not quite clear that she was serious or just kidding about it.

“Aree—” Saru paused and looked at her for a few good minutes and added. “ Kahi tum pagal to nahi ho gyi. Tumhe pata hai sab kuch phir bhi aisa bole hi rahi ho.”

Siddarth did not say anything because he knows his cousin well enough not to argue when she is like this. It was clear that he wasn't the person who took her words to his heart.

“ God jisse bhi es ladki Sameera ki shaadi hogi vo es City to  kya duniya ka sabse bada badkismat insaan hoga. He muttered to himself and started walking towards the other side, where he saw a men's garment showroom.

“Ab tum kaha nikal pade ?”
“ Kahi hum dono ko chor kar bhagane ka to irada nahi hai na ?” Meera asked.

“ Hell mein ja raha hu!!”

“Chalogi?”

“Chalna ho to batao tumhe liye taiyarian krwa du Yamraaj ji se bolkar.” He blurted, Annoyance was clearly evident on his face.

Meera scoffs, “No thanks mujhe kisi pgal kutte nahi  kata hai jo main tumhare saath vahan jaau.”

“You know wh—” Saru interrupted her this time before Meera could say anything further. “Please, khuda ka wasta hai ki Meera, tum shant ho jao. Tum zabaan to kainchi se bhi tej chalti hai. Aur agar itna hi na pasand krti ho unhe, to saath lekar hi kyu aayi?”

“ Tum meri friend ho ya uski ?”
“ Meri side lene ki jagah tum uski tarafdari kar rhi ho!!”

“Look, this is not fair” Meera complained while pouting and gave a side hug to Saru. “ Tum sirf meri jaana, baby, Darling, sweetheart , cutie, wifey ho Saru. Sirf meri!!”
The people around them were watching them in a strange way, especially typical aunties.

She chuckled at her best friend's possessive pet names and her act.l. She turned around to tell Siddarth to go, whatever he was about to go, but found the empty space where he was standing meant he had already left. Leaving girls behind to shop.

Time Skips…

Very recently both girls were at a trouser’s shop, and Saru was shopping for jeans .
Meera picked up a pair of sky-blue colored cargo jeans with multiple pockets which will go well with the kurti they brought earlier.

“ Jaana ye dekho kaisa hai ?” Meera asked, showing the pair of jeans to her who was so busy checking the size of other jeans.

She turned to look at Meera and saw the pair of jeans she was holding up high as a showcase. “ Wow!It'll look amazing. Isn't it ?” she said with an awesome expression.

“Choice tumhari bilkul mast hai meri jaan. Chalo yahi lete hai.” They both faced the shopkeeper and asked about the price of the jeans.

Saru: “ bhaiya jara suniye.”

Shopkeeper: “ ji madam boliye, kya chahiye aapko?”

Meera: “ Hume jo chahiye tha vo already le chuke hai bas meri dost aapse Jo pooch rhi hai vo bataiye.” she said playing Cool.

Saru : “ Ok ok, shant ho ja meri maa. Main poochh rahi hu na price!” Saru pleaded looking into her eyes.

Meera: “ Thik hai putri. Tathastu.” She replied using sanskrit language which she learned from saru in the car when they were on their way to be here.

Saru huffed at her joke and shook her head in disbelief. And she turned into the shopkeeper who was now looking at them with a smile.

Saru: “Bhaiya, ye jeans kitne ki hai?”

Shopkeeper: “Madam, ye jeans vaise to 970 rupees a hai. Lekin kyuki aaj 20% discount hai to aapko 194 rupees ka discount milega, which means 776 rupees, lekin aap 770 de dijiye.” he replied politely still smiling.

Meera: “Ab kya itna mehanga denge aap. Kuch to kam kijiye.”

Shopkeeper: “Madam, ye badi acchi quality ka jeans hai. Poora market bhi ghum lengi na tab bhi aapko hamare yaha jaise jeans kahi nahi milne wali hai.

Saru: “Bhaiya, 700 rupees dungi. Isse ek rupya bhi jyada nahi dungi.

Shopkeeper: “kya madam aap bhi aisa karengi ab ?’’

Meera: “ bhaiya de do na ab itani khoobsurat aur haseen ladki aapse 70 rupees ka discount mang rahi hai.To aap mna kar rahe hai ?” said meera her voice was soft this time far better than before.

Shopkeeper: “ Madam 70 rupees mein main sirf yahan se apne ghar ja skta hu. 70 rupees sirf mere Jane ka kiraya hota hai. Ab aap hi bata dijiye kya main apne ghar na jau ?”

Meera: “humane kab kaha ki aap ghar na jaayein? Main bas yahi kah rhi hu ki 700 rupees lijiye aur jeans hume de dijiye.”

Shopkeeper: “ Are Madam—” He trails off. “ Accha thik hai le jaayein.” He agreed reluctantly.

Meera & Saru: “ Thankyou bhaiya aap bahut acche hai.” They both said at the same time and looked at each other as if it was unexpected. Then they laughed together as if they found it funny.

“ Humdono ka dimaag kitna milta hai nhi ?” Saru asked Meera, holding her laugh.
To which Meera answered “ Isiliye to hum dono besties hain. That the whole matter jaana ki…..

“Style, shakal ya kuch aur match ho ya na ho lekin Dimaag milta julta hona chahiye tabhi to friendship mein vibe aati hai yarr.” she was still laughing

Shopkeeper  gave them a look of adoration like he is admiring their friendship.

“Vaise madam, aap dono single hain. Right?” he asked, hoping for a positive response. He crossed his fingers secretly as if praying silently.

Both looked at him weirdly as if he were an alien. Meera noticed his crossed fingers then looked up at him from head to toe
and said, “For your kind information, let me tell you ki aapki kismat aapki side mein nahi hai aaj.”

“Hum dono hi single nahi hai. Eski shaadi hue 3 mahine ho gye hai.” Meera pointed her index finger at Saru and then pointed at herself as she spoke. “ Aur main bhi shaadi shuda hu. Mere 2 bacche bhi hain: ek ladki aur ek ladka.” He gasped at her revelation.

She looked at her and chuckled at her best friend's white lie. “My girl got a smart mouth. Well done, Meeru,” she mumbled and appreciated her girl.

“Lekin aap dono ko dekhkar lagta nahi ki aap dono bhi married hain.”

The shopkeeper muttered to himself, not realizing that he said our s bit too loudly. Loud enough that they hear him.

“Vo isiliye kyuki main Santoor mom hu,” Meera said sassily and flipped her hair dramatically and started walking away, pulling her friend along with her.

“ Better luck next time Man.” Meera wished him.

“Ye bhi sahi hai bhai matlab ki itna try kru fir bhi koi ladki raazi ho nhi hoti.” he muttered and got back to his work.
