REAL LIFE
brielle β€” right
noah β€” left

brielle was lounging on the couch in her mom's house, a hoodie covering her body. the hoodie just so happened to be noah's and it was in no way, shape, or form helping her get over the boy, but it was very comfortable and that was all that mattered to her right then.

the sound of someone knocking on the front door is what caused brielle to pause the television show she was watching nd go open the door. she didn't really have a guess as to who was at the door, but the person that was there was someone she least expected.

"noah, what are you
doing here?"

"max and kj gave me the
address. sorry if this seems
kinda stalker-y, but i really
think we need to talk."

as the girl looked at him standing in front of her she felt the strong feelings she had for him rise up from that deep place they were buried in. and that wasn't at all a good thing because she was trying to get over those feelings that made her heart become all fluttery.

brielle tried her hardest to put those feelings to the side so that she could logically respond to noah.

"i don't think that would
be for the best."

"bri, please. i'm leaving soon and we haven't talked since i told you about the part. i just wanna know what happened to us? or at least, what's going on?"

a soft sigh left her lips as she stepped to the side a bit, so that noah could fully come inside the house. noah followed suit as brielle went to take a seat on the couch.

in that moment, the girl was happy that her mom was at work so she wasn't there to see their conversation.

"okay, you wanna know what's going on? well, you just said it. you're leaving in like six days for another city, in a different country that's really far away from los angeles. which sucks, but it kinda means our relationship is pretty much over."

"i told you i don't have
to take the role."

"but, that's the thing though. i don't
want you to not take the role. it's an amazing opportunity and i love that
you got it, so you have to do it."

"well, that still doesn't have
to mean we need to break up.
we can do a long distance relationship."

brielle paused for a moment, biting her lip in the process. there were many reasons why she despised such things called long distances relationships, the main one being because she saw so many of them fail, including her own parents'. and she didn't want to have to put herself through the pain that came along with that type of relationship.

however, she didn't realize that the pain she was currently putting herself through to try and make herself not love him anymore was probably just as bad.

"we can't. i already know that it
wouldn't work out if we did that."

"we could still try and
just see what happens."

the pleading look on noah's face almost, almost made her nod her head and agree with what he was saying. but, instead she just looked at her hands in her lap as she said her next statement.

"(softly) we've only been together for about four months, noah. i just don't think our relationship is strong enough to do it."

noah knew that there was nothing else he could say to brielle to make her change her mind about what she was doing; if she really didn't want to try he couldn't make her. so, instead of trying to reason with her once again he instead just gave her a quick nod.

"okay."

both noah and brielle got up from their positions on the couch and started making their way toward the front door.

"so, i guess this is
it, yeah?"

"(nods) yeah. i'm gonna
miss you, noah."

"i'm gonna miss you
too, bri."

the two pulled each other in for one final hug. brielle's head was pressed into noah's chest and his arms were wrapped tightly around her waist. her eyes were closed shut as she silently thought back to the good times the couple had, even from before they were officially dating. one of her favorites being when they went to the bookstore in san francisco.

neither of them wanted to let go, but eventually they did. with one last wave as noah got into his car and began to pull off, brielle closed the front door.

she slowly but surely came to the realization that it was all over; and that made her heart ache harder than ever before.
