When Jealousy Blooms

This friendly date with Junho had been off to a good start. He payed for all the foods you ordered and had laugh about your stories from your experiences in Bighit Academy.

He was still the same shy boy you were enjoying to fluster from time to time, but there's a charm in it, and you were not used to girls stopping by in the sidewalk to give him a second look.

But well, who can blame them if you're childhood friend looks like a celebrity even in his simple get up?

Perhaps you look like a freaking maid beside him.

It doesn't matter though, when you spend a few hours with him walking around the town and talking about the times the two of you go trick or treating in Halloweens.

"I just - I don't understand why you're okay with this. I mean, what you get from me but friendship?", you asked, looking at him.

"I'm not doing this without gaining anything", Junho said with a smile.

"And what are you gaining from this exactly?", you asked once again

He looked down at you with a strange smile, "I'm spending time with the girl I have a crush on since then"

"You have a crush on who?", you stated, your eyes widened as you looked away from him uncomfortably.

He let out a low whistle, "Wow, you're quite dense for now. You, I have a crush on you, Y/N"

"Alright", you said awkwardly, "But you see, Junho, I already have a crush and we were taking it slow"

Seeing the look you were giving him, Junho waved his hand in shyness, "Don't pity me yet - it's only a small crush. It will disappear eventually"

The two of you continued to talk as you made your way through the sudden wave of people exiting from the cinema and you stopped still at the next place where Junho is leading you in.

"Come on before it close", he said, appearing beside you again.

You gave him a flat look, "There is no way that I am setting foot in that restaurant"

The restaurant was the same one where Jay brought you before and the one Sunghoon said his family owns. What if they happened to be there in a weekend and saw you hanging out with a guy?

"But my mom paid for our reserved table", Junho muttered before he holds onto your hand and you bury your face into the other, hoping it was enough cover to hide your identity.

This was the most embarassing thing you could do ever in your life. To make matters worse after entering together, you saw Jake and Sunghoon in a table. Jay also looks to be here somewhere because you heard him call your name.

Looking up from your hand, you gave Jay a small wave before trying to act in front of Junho that this was all too normal.

When he had sat you down and you were facing one another in a table, he ordered the drinks first and looking out around the room, you watched as Sunghoon walk passed, glancing casually.

He stopped when his eyes landed on you and then shifted onto the boy sitting with you in the table. One waiter asks him what's wrong but he waved him off, his eyes never leaving your awkward smile at him.

Don't you dare approach here, you mouthed to him, but Sunghoon did it otherwise, eyes narrowed into the figure of Junho. You risked a look back at your friend who was oblivious and checking out the menu.

Only when Sunghoon was standing beside the table and had cleared his throat, did Junho look up at him quizically. Sunghoon's eyes left his a moment later and went straight down to you, and you had to give yourself credit for not paling under his intimidating stare.

"What the hell is going on here?", he demanded while Junho is looking at you, at lost for words.

"What does it look like, Sunghoon?", you asked him coolly and is cursing Jay in your head at what he was doing.

Finally, you spotted him in a table with Heeseung who settled back in his seat in order to get comfortable and watch the show. From the corner of your eye, you see Huening Kai with Leo did the same.

The question you have in your mind, are they really your friends?

"I thought we had an understanding, Y/N?", Sunghoon demanded again, and you tried not to roll your eyes.

"What kind of understanding, is it?", you asked, ignoring the snickers of Kai from the background.

Sunghoon narrowed his eyes at you before walking away, and maybe had the decency to realize that he was just embarassing himself by acting out of place.

Huening Kai pouted from his chair at your glance at him, maybe thinking it was already setting to a good part.

Looking back now at a clueless Junho, you raised your eyebrows slightly as he said, "Well, it looks like we have another guest in this table", with his eyes fixed onto something behind your shoulder.

"You do realize that the previous guy was only the least of it?", you asked, trying not to look behind you.

"I don't get it", he replied, taking a sip with his drink, "It looks like at least three table of guys is now looking at us"

"Ignore them", you take a sip from your glasses and set a hand on his forehead, "Act like you were suddenly feeling sick and we will get out from here"

Simply waiting out here to be confronted next by Jake is not your cup of tea.

Junho did not help when he took ahold of your hand and placed it on his chest. Then in a cheesiest voice he could muster, he said, "I wanted to make them jealous more whoever they are, my love"

You pulled your hand away from him, but couldn't contain the laughter because he sounded so unlike of himself. Junho leaned towards you once you had stopped laughing.

"Don't look now but the guy who stopped to seat behind you looks jealous", he whispered the words in your ears and a blush covered your cheeks with his proximity.

Junho then trailed a finger across your burning cheeks as he said, "I didn't know I have that effect in you"

"Because I know you're leading us straight into a raging storm", you stated firmly, knowing Jake is the one he was talking about.

"Hey guys", Junho pulled away from you at the sound of Jake's voice and you turned to the source.

Jake is there along Sunghoon as they now stood before the two of you, it's kind of scary for you how he could smile at you when you knew what it meant.

They really love a drama, you think as you watch him takes a seat and Sunghoon look at him for a moment before following his lead.

"What are you doing here?", Jake asked directly to you. You were shock to say the least at the situation.

"We were on a date", Junho said, looping his arm around your shoulder. Jake's eyes narrowed in the action but he made no further comment.

Sunghoon was the one to fill the silence, "You didn't told us you were on a date with someone. I could give you a discount"

Something tells you he's only saying it to make Junho feels small or to further the awkwardness you can feel the longer you sat your butt there in front of them.

"No need for that. Everything is already payed, don't worry", Junho said calmly, trying not to feel insulted, "Maybe the two of you can leave us now in our date?"

The fact that you knew his true feelings made everything so awkward. Maybe if you didn't like Jake, if you had known Junho's feelings earlier than maybe you could give him a try. You could have acted as though it was a real date.

Regardless of the fact that Jake and Sunghoon is sitting in front of you, glaring intently at Junho.

Junho made a show of trailing his hand to your neck when he realized you were spacing out. The moment you felt his fingers graze the skin of your neck, you jumped at the contact.

He looked at you, his eyes brimmimg with mischief, "You're still ticklish, huh? It brought memories from before"

"Don't you dare, Junho", you warned, trying to put some distance between the two of you.

His arms drew closer to you and you slapped his hand away from you, remembering the old days of dying from his tickles. But his hand quickly wound to your sides and you let out a shriek as you tried to get away from him.

Jake cleared his throat roughly, silencing both you and Junho. You glanced over at him and saw that he was clutching at Sunghoon's arm tightly that his knuckles had turned white.

"Jake, calm yourself down", Sunghoon reminded him, laying a hand on his shoulder. Jake shrugged his hand away all while keeping his death glare locked onto Junho.

"Do you mind not doing that to her?", he asked to your childhood friend.

"I don't know what even your problem is", Junho began confrontationally, "But I assure you my date doesn't mind"

Jake's face clouded over with anger along Sunghoon's at his words but he ignored them as he slid out of his seat before speaking up again.

"Didn't I promise you to buy your mom a cake on our way home?", he asked, extending his hand for you to take.

You looked up at the hand he offered and rolled your eyes for the sake of the two as you take his hand in yours, "She would like a matcha flavor", you corrected.

The two of you quickly made your way out of the restaurant and you struggled not to look back. But the urge to look back had almost disappeared when you were far enough not to see the place if you were to look over your shoulder.

But at least the drama is over.

"They looked really jealous of us", Junho admitted, his voice made of equal parts of triumphs and sadness, "It sucks that you didn't tell me about them, but I'm happy for you if you like one of those boys"

In that moment, you let yourself believe him that what he said about crushing on you is real.

"Junho-"

The words were cut off by him taking a hold of your arm to tug you in the direction of the cake shop. You keep on questioning him about the rush, but he didn't answer.

Only once you were inside a cake shop, did Junho explain, "The one who greeted you at the restaurant is following us"

When you glanced back over your shoulder, you watched Jay pushed his way into the shop, followed by a haggard looking Jungwon and behind them, Jake and Sunghoon is only a few step away.

Sure enough, it seemed like they were following you with your date.

"What do we do?", you asked in panic, looking at Junho for guidance.

"We act as if we haven't seen them yet. Now, let's buy that matcha cake for your mom", he said with a relaxed smile before going to the cashier.

It was probably no more than ten minutes later when the cashier is already handing the box of cake to Junho that Jay called your name from the other aisle as you were about to tell your friend you will pay for it.

He walked over to you and Junho, and you looked around for Jungwon to stop his bestfriend but found no sign of him. Had he got tired of putting a leash in his dog?

"Jay?", you asked as though you had no idea what he was doing here.

"I needed to talk to you", he said when he came to a stop beside you.

You glanced at Junho who simply reached over for the box of cake as he said, "Go, I'll pay for this first"

"Wait, let me give you the money -"

"Forget it. Although I'm accepting a payment for another method", he says before dropping a kiss to your cheeks and he straightened up, "I already got what I wanted"

Junho left you there then to join the queue of the customer's line, and Jay, once he sees him left, took ahold of your arm and proceeded to drag you out of the shop, not even letting Jake or Sunghoon to have a say in it.

Rather they only follow the two of you in turn.

"What are you doing here, Jay?", you asked when you were already out of the shop, standing away from the entrance as to not block the stream of customers.

"What are you doing with him?", he demanded angrily, certainly not being in place.

He wasn't even your boyfriend to begin with.

"That's a bit of a stupid question, isn't it, Jay?", you gave him a look as if it was obvious, "I'm on a date with my friend, Junho"

"Yeah, while knowing there's at least three of us who'd been wanting for you to go with us in one", he said with a sneer, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I don't know what your problem is, Jay", you stared up at him questioningly, "Junho is genuinely a nice guy to me"

"He's a threat to us"

"He's my childhood friend"

"That doesn't make him a nice guy", Jay scoffed, looking a like a little boy throwing a tantrum, "The only reason he's here is to get laid"

The moment you heard it from him, a burst of anger visited in your system before your eyes went into slits as you narrowed your eyes at him.

Junho didn't even deserved to be looked at like that, and why was he judging him instantly?

He is your friend, a childhood friend at that and you knew him longer than they are. If there's anything they should do, is to respect him in front of you.

"Junho is my childhoold friend, and he just returned from abroad recently", you started with a scoff in your voice, "I better not hear any of you talking bad about him in my face"

"Well, I think -"

You didn't give Jay a chance to explain as you turned around and walked back into the cake shop, your mood is still on the red alarm by the time you get back into the waiting Junho inside.

"Woah, what's wrong?", he asked when he peered down at your face and seeing your expression.

"Just some annoying guys as usual", you said as if it was no big deal, giving him a forced smile.

The day should have been an enjoyable one with a friend you had not seen for a long time, but with the appearance of the three, it all becomes a ruin and wasted as you went home with a bad mood.

On your way back to the dorm a few hours later, it didn't get better to discover the three was waiting in there with Heeseung allowing them in, of course.

At least you were faster than any of them to enter the bedroom and locked yourself in, ignoring all their demands.

You better cool your head first.

This is my favorite chapter so far from all the drama it has.

Poor Junho for being placed in the middle of it.
