The Worst Of Her Anger

You'd expected to die. You'd expected to be a captive and wake up in some sort of cell where you will be tortured until you gave up the details of your mom's whereabouts.

Or maybe, because you were too damn proud to not admit the Hwangs is still all a human, you're imagining of such exaggerations.

In your opinion, that would make more sense than waking up, tucked safely away in a well-decorated room.

The environment you found yourself in took you by such a surprise that for a moment, you continued to lie in bed, uncertain that this wasn't something you were imagining to cope with a more gruesome reality.

You even pinched yourself a little to make sure you weren't dreaming.

After rubbing at your forearm to ease the pain, you sat up, looking around the room. Paintings, beautiful and you knew expensive, hung on the walls and there was even a completely stacked bookshelf lining one wall.

There was a window, large and with draping curtains on another wall. It was just a small feature, but it was enough for you to be reminded this is the reason why he had left you and your mom.

Sighing, you surveyed the room, trying to catalogue everything and preparing yourself to talk about it to your mom.

In the next moment, your brows screwed into a frown of it's own accord when someone walked into the room. It was Yeji, who just smiled softly at the sight of you and your glare.

"Welcome home, sister", she started, walking further into the room. You held your silence, regarding her suspiciously, "You need an hour more before we let you go"

You scoffed, biting back a retort that being stuck here in their house is the worst.

When you said nothing, her smile faded as she clicked her finger, and not a few seconds later, did a maid enter the room with a tray laden with a food and a glass of water.

"You need to eat first before your meeting with dad", Yeji says as the maid set down the tray in the bedside table and walked out of the room without a word, closing the door as she went.

"Why would I need to talk to him?", you hissed, not giving her chance to response, "Seriously, after leaving us for how many years, he would return like nothing happened?"

She raised one hand, as if signalling you to give her time to explain, so you did, "Yes, I understood that you're still mad but he's now ready to make up for it"

"Make up for it?", you stated with a disbelieving laugh as you stared up at her, "Does he even know what did my mom become because of him leaving?"

When Yeji can't give you an answer and only looks down at you with a sad eyes, you can't stop intensifying the heaviness of your glare on her face. Perhaps it was unfair to her side, she had nothing to do with it.

But the fact that they were his cohorts, that they helped him to get you this way, it also included them with your problem to their dad.

He's not your dad anymore the moment he broke your heart in the past.

"Please, can you just leave?", you asked of her weakly, realizing now that it's wrong to be cold towards her.

"I hope you can forgive him", she says before turning to the door and once she was in front of it, she added, "He never stopped talking about you all these years that I got jealous of you sometimes"

Long after she disappeared out the room, you continued to look at the door, trying to make sense of what she just said. The breaking in the part of admitting she was jealous in her voice had shocked you to no end.

Your dad spent the years of being away talking about you, but why?

None of it made sense, no matter how you thought about it or turned your situation over and over in your head, there was no reasonable explanation.

Unless there is something you didn't know and you will find out as soon you walked out this room?

It had only been half an hour before an old man in a butler suit entered the room and said nothing, but gestured for you with his white gloved hand to follow him out the door.

Finally taking a single step out into the hallway, you paused, doing nothing more than to be on the look out. The hallway is quiet, all the walls is made of wood and of expensive paintings again along some small chandeliers at the ceiling.

It would be now or never to meet him face to face.

"Sir is waiting for you in his office with Master Hyunjin", the butler informs you formally, as if you want to find out.

With each pace forward, you searched the area around you, waiting for someone to take you out from there. There was only still silence.

There wasn't even the noises that suggests there's any people anywhere.

"We're here", the butler says once you reached a two mahogany wooden doors.

You made it a good few feet away from there when your eyes lingered on something attached to the wall at the end of the hallway and without a conscious thought, you were walking quicker until you stood before something squared and it was covered in some sort of a blanket.

Curiousity got the better of you and reached for the covering, asking what if the reason was that it shouldn't be seen by you?

Ignoring the warning from the butler, you pulled the covering from the frame and let it fall to the floor, only to find yourself staring up at what was clearly a family portrait.

The father in the portrait is very familiar and the woman bears the features of Yeji and Hyunjin, sitting on a chairs with the Hwang siblings standing on either side of their parents.

You have a family portrait as well, in your house before, the one you smashes and burns in the backyard before your mom for it only brings you bad thoughts just as this one.

One portrait and now you knew.

Everything clicked into place as you tried to calm your racing heart. How dare he brings you into this place, only for you to be face with ugly truth?

Only one more look at the smiling man and you could feel yourself beginning to vibrate with anger.

"Call him out here before I do something I regret", you called out sharply to the butler and struggling to get ahold of yourself at the feeling, "Now!"

The butler gets closer to you within seconds, beginning to despair at the sight of the blanket in the floor, but that's not what made it worse, it's to see you picking off the portrait from the wall with a crazed look in your eyes.

He cut himself off abruptly from going closer when you harshly shouted, "I said get him now!"

Frazzled and looking more than a little anxious, the butler bowed and assured you, "Of course, Mistress, Of course"

Within a snap of seconds, he rushed inside the office and you once more turned your attention to the portrait, your hold on it tightening as you stared between the faces of the couple.

Of all sorts of irony, the father is a hatred figure in your life and the wife is the one he should be sorry for, along your mom for doing it to such a two family.

At this moment, you'd never become this angry to the point of boiling and seeing nothing but read as you wait for the cause of all your pain, that you think you might do something you'd never done something before.

There was a call of your name, apprehensive and hesitant, from the opening door of the office, followed by at least three sets of footsteps stopping only a few distance from your spot.

Unable to look at him yet, you said coldly, "Don't speak so familiar to me"

"Why not? He's still your father no matter what he did", you finally looked up to the voice of Hyunjin who, not so long ago, had taken you down with a chloroform just to get you here.

"Clearly, I'm not talking you but to that bastard", you said darkly, shocking him by the amount of hatred in your tone.

"Hyunjin, you can leave now with Mr. Ong", your dad dismissed the two of them, walking towards you and stopping when he was close enough, "Calm down, Princess"

You think he says that after seeing the hold you had in their family portrait. The concern look in his eyes even made you smirk as you raised it up to his eye level and were only taking your time.

In order to teach him what it feels like.

"Princess", you repeated, the nickname familiar enough that it triggered unwanted memories.

Unwanted memories of a childhood running through the backyard of your house and he was only one step away all the time from catching you before you eyed his son for a lingering moment.

"Pleased to meet you, Y/N", Hyunjin ducked behind his father before he and the butler turns to walk the other way, and disappeared in sight.

Accusatorily, your eyes dart towards your dad who quickly explained, "I'm telling you to put down that portrait. Please, just listen, Y/N"

You held back a scoff, wanting nothing more than to demand just what he wanted from you and why his behaviour made little sense to you, but instead of listening, what you did next is causing for him to scream in terror.

The same scream who reached out to the front door where Jay, Jake and Sunghoon is being welcomed by the maid. Almost all of the living person in the house was alarmed when they heard a crash, followed by a cry and shouts for somebody to stop.

"Oh shit, we have to get there before she do something worse, guys", Jay muttered to the other two as they took off in a run, following the maid who took turns from here to there and led them straight into the main hallway.

Based on his experience, he can't be sure now with you. When it comes to your anger, you're unpredictable and at your worst, uncontrollable.

"Oh my god", Jake said as soon as they stopped at the sight they have stumbled into.

By the time they arrived at the scene, everywhere in the hall before the office is in state of disarrange, like a storm had made a walk in here. But the storm is right there, raging and crying at the same time as you pick up all the paintings in the walls before smashing it down the family  portrait of your dad.

He is only standing there, taking a step back in fright and his eyes were widening at your every accuses. Although he said nothing, he knew he deserves it.

"How the hell you ask me to be put in your world after what you did to me, you piece of shit?", you were shouting as you go stepping all over the portrait, not sensing all the eyes watching you.

And now your eyes red from all the crying, from all the contained anger now bursting out of you as you shouted once again, "And what did you say putting me in your will? I don't care if you die because all this time, that's what I've been wishing to happen"

He told you he is dying now and only had months to live, but the amount of anger inside you didn't give you a one piece of pity for him. How can you learn to forgive him?

How can you learn to forgive him when he is asking you too to marry a son of his business partners?

Did he really think you will agree with his ridiculous plans?

A few seconds of silence passed and just as he prepared to speak, you launched yourself at him, forgoing all the kindness you have in you.

In the name of wanting to show him how much you hated him all this years.

"You utter bastard", you declared, managing to land a single blow in his chest causing for him to stumble in his feet before somebody caught your arms, holding them by the wrist and keeping you a safe distance away from your dad.

"Y/N, take a hold of yourself", you heard Jake's voice saying from behind.

It was then that you see Jay and Sunghoon running to your dad who they helped up to his feet and their eyes were now full of fear of what you can do because of the raging emotions in your head.

But you don't care, not when your dad is there, looking at you and keeping on to say his apologies.

You continued to struggle against Jake's hold, chest heaving madly with effort as you cried out, "How can you do that to my mother? How can you leave her wait for nothing?", and suddenly, more tears is coming out.

"Her heart is dying every day but with still hopes of seeing you return and now you were going to tell me you were sick as well", you blinked up the tears, seeing the way his eyes widened at your revelation, "It's all because of you that my mom is dying on me!"

The revelation that was where all your salary from your job is going to just because you wanted for your mom to stay alive.

"You need to calm down", he insisted, holding your eyes and speaking slowly like he was trying to make you see sense.

Like you were the one to cause it all, all the emotional drain to the only parent you love and because of all waiting for nothing it led for your mom to suffer through a broken heart syndrome.

It can happen when an extremely emotional or traumatic event triggers a surge of stress hormones. These hormones can put anyone in a short-term heart failure, which can be life-threatening.

And all those triggers had repeatedly happened through the years, that the doctor said it's only a few more attacks then she will passed away.

"We can talk about this and I can help you with your mother -"

"Don't pretend you care about her!", you shouted over your dad's words, even as he continued to speak slowly and steadily.

You jerk backwards sharply, and tried to disentangle yourself from Jake but he held firm, "How dare you come back and take me here, demand me of such things while she's dying?!"

"Calm down, Y/N", Jake reminded you, dodging a kick you tried to land on his leg for wanting to get at your dad, "Would you please, just stop for a moment before you tire yourself out?"

He had never imagined you to be like this, and he could say the same Jay and Sunghoon is thinking the same thing as they watched you in alertness just in case they needed to shield your dad from you.

And by this time, Yeji had turned up with Hyunjin who then runs to your dad when he stopped to put a hand against his aching chest.

"Screw you all", you said, weakly this time, eyes now onto your half-siblings.

"Y/N, I said calm down -"

And Jake needed to say nothing further, not when your body decided to give up due to all the stress in your system.

They watched you shook your head, fighting back light-headedness that quickly overwhelms you. The fight died out of you as everything finally caught up.

Jake, surprised and worried, released your arm only to catch you in the very next second when you swayed on your feet and fell forward, slumping lightly against his chest.

"Don't tell my mom he's back", you mumbled between your lips, just as your eyes rolled shut and you fainted right there in front of them.

But that was not the last of it.

The Hwang Twins were screaming a few seconds later because your dad collapsed down into his knees after you did, calling for someone to help the ambulance with Jay doing it quickly for their sake, pitying them as they started to cry together.

For your dad to fight through the triggers of his own disease.

While it all happened before his eyes, Sunghoon doesn't know what to do and only following Jake when the butler Mr. Ong led them to take you in a guest room.

And if only you woked up a little earlier, your mom wouldn't be called and now she is on her way to get you, not knowing this could be the day her wishes to be granted.

Her wish of seeing your dad again even for the last time of her breath.

Was this chapter full of tension and a chilling drama?

I didn't know I have it in me today, but to be clear, there's more revelations to come.

And it will have to do with one of the boys!
