When the last day before the flight arrived, you took the chance to get out of the dorm and clear your head.

In these cirmcumstances, you would've normally gone talking to your friends but since you were the only one who have free time, Sunoo and Heeseung were all busy now with their piles of assignments.

You were tempted to go out there in the town alone, to do what you usually do before like walking around in the street and see the new things in there, like if there's new flavor of this teokbokki place you were frequenting way even before you got immersed in the academy.

Missing the old times is something else, especially the chances to be alone in your thoughts.

After asking for permission from Mrs. Nam, you walked up to the gates and was planning to wait for a taxi there. But just because that was what you wanted doesn't mean that it was the one you're going to get.

Especially with a particularly driven looking Park Jay jogging your way. You didn't even bother to look surprised when he stopped in front of you, his two little ducklings - Jungwon and Ni-ki - following closely behind him.

"What do you want?", you questioned, vaguely noticing the look of the guard from the gate is giving you.

"I thought we could go for a drink", Jay said with a wide grin, "Just the two of us"

Before you could even try to reject the offer, Jungwon and Niki is already ushering themselves away and you stared at their retreating figures in mild annoyance.

You were not pleased, so you turned your unimpressed eyes onto Jay's and you only sighed when he gestured for you to follow him.

At this point, you know your wish of being alone for once is not granted.

"You know", you muttered, throwing him a look as the two of you continued at this coffee shop near the school, "I was planning on spending the day by myself"

This coffee shop have a bookstore or you know, the type where they do have rooms for you to rent and read in peace. They offer food as well for you to dine in.

However, you never stepped in there for recognizing the establishment was for the benefit of the rich kid. Just the cheapest coffee of theirs is too pricey for your own taste.

"Then I would join you", Jay responded easily, holding the door open for you to enter first, "Don't you think it would be too lonely by yourself?"

You rolled your eyes, leaning against the counter when you reached it, "Is there any reason you approached me today? Or did you just feel like ruining my plans?"

He grinned widely, waving down a people behind the cashier and placing the orders with you only going for an iced americano and a slice of cheesecake.

When you went to pay for your order, Jay swatted your hand away and paid for you, completely ignoring the offended gaze you threw at him. He made no comment on your action and instead began to lead you towards a table, a hand pressed against the small of your back.

You snagged the seat across from him, and prepped your chin up with your arm, watching him closely.

"What are you up to, Jay?", you questioned suspiciously as your drinks and cakes were brought to the table, so you thanked the waiter and took a sip at your cup.

"Nothing", he denied innocently with a slight shake of his head, but you knew better.

You straightened up in your seat and gave him a probing look, "I thought you'll make it easier for me to sort out my feelings from that two? But now you're here, being around me all the time"

"I don't remember wanting to talk about them", Jay said casually, taking a long sip of his coffee.

Setting his cup back down, he reached out to take your hand in his. You made no move to pull your hand away from him because this much contact among friends was normal, right?

It was certainly normal in the friendship you had with him. At least you think so.

"The amount of time we spend together is short compared to the times you spent with Sunghoon", he said, becoming a little pouty at the sentiment.

If Jay is not trying to look so cool all the time, which he really is, he can look cute naturally without making an effort.

"This was all too confusing", you muttered, looking back to your predicament, "One moment you're agreeing with me that we should bs friends first and the next you're running after me"

"First of all", Jay said, clearing his throat and straightening in his seat without releasing your hand, "I never said that I'm only after a friendship. Secondly, I want you to recover from what I did to you months ago", then he was smiling at you, "And finally, shouldn't you be happy that I'm giving you space compared to that two?"

You scoffed, watching a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. As you pulled your hand away from him, you said, "You're unbelievable"

"I can't deny that", Jay said with a slight laugh, looking away from you as someone approached your table. Whoever it was had the smile slipping from his face, "A reporter in here?"

Reporter? As in the one you can hear from the students in Bighit Academy has been loitering around ftom the beginning of the year who often wrote trashy articles about the school's reputation.

The horrible man had claimed that it was disappointing that it isn't open to welcome any visitors but honestly, Bighit was only doing their job from protecting their students' privacy from the likes of him.

You turned to the reporter, frowning at his huge camera that he was literally pointing at Jay's face. He hadn't bothered to look at you once.

His eyes were focused solely on Jay who, by the minute, was looking more and more ready to leave.

"Mr. Park Jay", he said with an exaggerated sigh and for a moment, you tried to be patient with him, "How does it feel to be currently competing with the other Park's family?"

"Our families were close", Jay said, sharing a look with you, "Pretty close to be exact"

"But we both know that your dad's company is profitting higher this yea4 than theirs", the reporter said with a coy grin, reaching out to place a hand on Jay's arm.

"It doesn't matter", Jay can only said in response.

"Of course, but let's not talk about the business. Why don't we talk about your companion?", the reporter's eyes were finally on you and you did not refuse him of your glare, "I think she is your girlfriend, huh?"

Jay was already out of his seat before you could even attempt to deny it. He came around the table, wrapping a hand around your arm and pulling you to your feet.

"We really should be going", he said unapologetically, hurrying you out of the door.

"Wait", you tried to protest as you were forced out in the street, "you didn't let me tell her that I'm not your girlfriend"

"Save your breath", Jay muttered, still pulling you to head in another direction, "He's already made up his mind about what type of story he's going to cover"

You sighed, shooting a glare at the coffee shop which was retreating from your sight, "He's a piece of trash"

"Maybe", Jay agreed from beside you, "but he's a trash you wouldn't want to anger and yet Mr Bang swore if he ever hurt any of us, he'll be filing a lawsuit to him"

You really wanted to be happy about that information, but at this moment, you were just despairing over the lost of your iced americano and the cheesecake, you haven't even taken a single bite of it.

That's what you were more angry about this prying reporter.

The sea shore; the one place where, upon stepping into it, the comfort seeped through your body.

Jay, for the sake of looking back to the time you were still dating him, had taken you to the same resort where the party happens way, way before all the implications of your past resurfaced - he drove the two of you there.

But it didn't matter whether you were still dating him or not, the joy was still there in your eyes as you remove your sandals and runs up to the sandy shore, loving the feel of it against your feet.

None of the problems mattered when you kicked to the gentle small waves at the shore and saw the sight of Jay who smiles from behind you

Because after all, beaches were like your safe place with him and it always had been.

He welcomed it when you waved him over to join you in a walk, with the sunset happening in the sky above and just the sight of him closing his eyes at this relaxing place had you forgetting the scene at the coffee shop.

"How do you feel coming back here after all that?", he asked, opening his arms and you don't know why, but you still step into them.

"I kind of miss it for some reason", you said without an ounce of hesitation, sighing when his arms closed around you.

"Someone's happy to be in my arms", he murmured, drawing reluctantly away from you to check up on a seashell that he saw in the wet sand.

You kicked once more to the water before following him, "I have something to tell you, Jay"

"Me too", he glanced over his shoulder, managing to put you in shock as he plopped down the sand and telling you to do the same, "What will you say?"

"I finally realized something about the three of you", you said, and shrieked a little after he pulled you down with him in the soft sand, the feeling of water so cool in your back, "I think I have a crush on one of you, but I love the others which is strange"

"Which one then?", Jay asked with a sheepish smile at where the two of you were lying, "That's a big problem"

"The one in front of me now might be my crush after all what he did for me", you rushed out, watching the way his eye rose in pleasant surprise at your relevation.

But seriously, you should reveal all of your secrets now before the announcement in the welcoming party, for you knew, it would changed everything in your life.

"It took me a while to figure out, but it's easier to have a crush other than pondering over my dilemma between Jake and Sungho--"

Jay cut off your prattling, grabbing you to place a kiss in your cheek innocently, his hand coming up to frame your cheeks before squishing it slightly.

As he stopped to do it, replacing it with the action of just staring at your face, as if appreciating it while he bit on his lips, and then he was smiling softly before pressing a tender kiss in your forehead.

"Thank you for at least being honest with me", he admitted before he was standing up and offering you his hand.

"Don't be stupid, Jay", you said, taking his hand for a moment as you stood up, "Who will not have a crush on you when you're really nice behind your playboy facade? We can also add the fact that you're really attractive when you smiled"

Jay chuckled, shaking his head as he walked the two of you deeper in the water, "Who would have thought the girl who kicked me in the nuts would be saying this to me?"

"Don't remind me of that", you grumbled, moving your free hand to splash him in the face.

"Oh you deserve to remember that", Jay was grinning as he let go of your hand.

"So?", you asked as you watched him take out something from the pocket of his leather jacket, "What did you want to talk about?"

Jay cleared his throat, making you look up at him. When you met his gaze, he gestured towards something and following his gesture, your eyes went wide at the sight of a box in his hand.

You looked back at him who had become suddenly fascinated in taking your hand and placing the box in your palm. He glanced at you from under his eyelashes as you reached out to pick the box with shaking fingers.

You wish you were wrong.

Letting out a deep breath, you opened the box and you stared down at the diamond stone sparkling in the disappearing sunlight.

It was a beautiful ring, one that you had never expected to be given.

You finally looked up and waited as Jay hesitantly raised his eyes to yours. And you take a step back away from him, watching as his eyes grew conflict, not knowing how to interpret the silence.

"What does this mean, Jay?", you finally managed to ask, eyes shaking with fear.

He chuckled nervously, "Just in case you decided to get over them, I'm willing to be here, to receive you back in my arms"

You drew back from him a little more, "But why?", you can't believe this.

For any of them to actually want to propose to you.

"I think I did the biggest mistake when we broke up because of Giselle", Jay started, rubbing at the back of his neck, still nervous, "I didn't know what I had until it was taken away from me"

"But what does this mean for you?", you asked, still hang up on the ring in your hand.

"You can throw it away now if you want, I don't mind", he just said, looking away from you and the box.

"Hell no, but I'm not giving you any hope", you said, making him turn around to walk away, but you added loudly, "If I were to put them aside, will you still be there for me?"

Slowly, did Jay turned around to face you again and slowly he did let out a smile as if that was the answer before you throw yourself at him.

"I'm going to take this that you'll always return to me", he warned.

"We'll see", you replied, pulling away from him to look at how happy he was.

And then the two of you were grinning at each other, and in that moment, nothing else mattered except that you were enjoying each other's company.

The sun making way for the night didn't matter in this moment, it wasn't tainting this moment of peace.

Everything would be okay with Jay.

Finally, I did some justice for my bias, Jay. I will not give up on his character. Never at all.

But at this point, who is your team now?

This is just a special update because it's for Jay.. 💜
