The whole week of the Foundation for him was all about serving and greeting the customers without ever showing the distaste about their sickening outfit.

He can't even imagine how he could keep up with the demands of the customers which were usually girls to take a picture with him or how in the first day, did he cancel the addition of Layla lest his dog would be overwhelmed by so much attention.

Their seniors, Yeonjun and Beomgyu were not even helping at their every busy to the booth.

He couldn't count how many times Jay had scream, Huening Kai is all about a dolphin squeal and Leo looks like he's ready to prepare for his grave at every lift of their skirt for some girls to see what's under.

They wore shorts, by the way, to keep them safe from the creeps.

Even so, in Jake's realization, his concern shouldn't be about the maid outfits but for the bestfriend of his.

And maybe it wasn't fair to Sunghoon that upon seeing him getting more closer to her, he gets jealous of them. He can't help having a bad feeling to watch Y/N pour all her attention to his bestfriend in the past few days.

But it was simply her, helping him out of his penguin costume or if she thinks it could get too hot for him inside, she's the one to call for Sunghoon to give him breaks.

As Jake stepped out of the stock room with a boxes in order to give an aid to the truck that came to finally take down the booth along the others, given that it was the last day of fair, he hadn't seen Jay approaching him.

He hadn't realised he had arrived until Jay was suddenly walking beside him.

His friend's sudden presence startled him, even more so when Jay reached over to take stacks of boxes from his hand.

"I can take them", Jake protested, moving to take the boxes from Jay.

Jay held the pile out of his reach and says, "They're not that heavy"

"Which is why I can carry them", he insisted only to sigh when Jay shook his head.

They walked in silence for a while towards the waiting truck before Jay remarked casually, "Don't you notice something between Y/N and Sunghoon?"

"I know, I didn't look jealous, does it?", Jake asked, for he had come to notice how he was becoming quiet whenever he saw the two laughing together in a corner.

Y/N is opening up to them, he could see, in a good way but how can he not be afraid if it means losing her slowly to his own bestfriend?

"It's not that. I was just worried about you", Jay chuckled quietly, shaking his head slightly.

"You were worried about me for what?", Jake's surprise carried across to Jay who rolled his eyes.

"Of course I was", he said, nudging with his shoulder and looking away to see the girl forcing Sunghoon to say goodbye at the penguin costume, "I could see how you felt about those two being like that"

Swallowing uncomfortably, Jake forced himself to say, "What if this closeness they had now would develop into something else?"

His words rendered Jay speechless, making his steps slow and still, even if it was scary enough to think about it, both of them knew it could be the ending they don't want to see.

Y/N, from the day she first met Sunghoon who had been a nuisance to her then, always have this fascination on him and to the point, it lead her to often retort back whenever the ice skater is targeting her.

They even both witnessed the first party they had to her dorm with Heeseung, the morning after brings an Y/N kicking the pillow from under Sunghoon's head.

Who's to say those times seeing her evil smile after getting back at Sunghoon doesn't mean something?

Taking in a deep breath, Jay admitted quietly, "I saw them that night, when you were being a brat and not talking to me, they went out together"

Jake tried to cut in, "I don't want to hear it -"

Jay shook his head, intent on saying whatever he wanted to say to him, "I was going to take a walk when they return and I saw your bestfriend kissing her there"

He then went silent as if expecting Jake to say something. But what was he supposed to say to that?

This was the most shocking revelation to hear his bestfriend might be going for the girl he likes in his back.

Jake looks at his friend cautiously and searched for something, anything to say that would get them off this topic. It seemed that Jay grew tired of him and decided to fill the silence.

"You know, we have to accept it one way or another because we could not force her to choose three -"

"Look, we're here!", Jake declared obnoxiously as they reached the truck where the worker is watching them expectantly.

"You're avoiding the truth", Jay called out cautiously to Jake but he ignored him.

"Here's the boxes", Jake called out impatiently to the worker, tapping his foot as he waited for the two metal doors to open.

The worker hesitated for a moment, looking between him and Jay. With a sigh, he swung the door open and they bot set down the boxes inside.

As the truck closed and turned to drive away a few minutes later, Jake took one look at Jay beside him who had grown very silent.

His eyes searched their surroundings and settled on Huening Kai and Leo who, upon hearing his call looked up, and when they'd seen him gesturing to sort out Jay or maybe distract, they hadn't looked away.

"I have no time to think I would be losing her", Jake muttered under his breath before approaching the bench where their two classmates sat.

As he stood before them, Huening Kai and Leo looked between him and Jay. They looked back to him and both were wearing a confused expression.

"I don't care what you do", he said quietly, turning to walk away from them, "But please help me this one time, get Jay away from me for now"

And so they did, both running up to Jay who was bewildered when they started to drag him somewhere, the somewhere being the Cafeteria with Huening Kai suggesting excitedly for him to buy them a fruit shake.

With Jake being left alone there in around the people pulling down all the booths, and as the trucks were all driving away in sight, his eyes were only at the two person he was closed to and they were there, talking in one of the benches, as if there's nobody else in the world but them.

Deep into a realization of what Jay is trying to say, he braced himself because nobody warns you about your bestfriend unless they're about to hurt you.

That was the worst part of the problem.

The dedication with a multiple sting of grumbles and complaints from the boys had managed to grab the highest earning from all the sections in your school.

But for god's sake, how had no one told you how tiring it could be to be the leader?

Your head, although you have not lacking the sleep, were the part of you that was aching the most.

Sunghoon, once the resting from the booth is done and you had changed in a comfortable outfit, had taken you to your bedroom and led you back to the mini-celebration in their dorm room where it was already in full swing.

Huening Kai, so happy about the won plane tickets for Jeju Island, swept you into a giant hug the moment you stepped into the room and you were still recovering from it when he thanked you for thinking about the genius idea of a cat-themed coffee shop.

Before you could say anything in response, he disappeared into the crowd and riled up all the people for a party.

Sunghoon briefly left your side to get you a drink and when he returned, you took it from him with an apologetic smile.

"Sorry for forcing you to wear that cute costume for a week", you said loudly in order to be heard among the multiple noises.

"Why don't I leave you for now to rest?", he suggested, looking across the room, "Jake's over there and is calling for me - just find me if you need me, okay?"

"Okay", you said quietly, still not used to him when he leaned down for a kiss in your cheek before going to his bestfriend.

You walked away from him before Sunghoon could comment on why you hadn't let him kiss you properly since well, you and him were nothing but friends, and yet he had been getting too close to you this week.

Shit, I still had no idea what to do about them, you dismayed as you sat in one of the unoccupied plastic chairs from the corner. Were you supposed to be straight with them?

Maybe you have to ask the three of them for space too, but what excuse were you supposed to give Jake if he inevitably asked why you had a bit change of heart?

You couldn't very well tell him that you may or may not a have a slight attraction to his own bestfriend.

The said bestfriend returns and settled down beside you, turning to give you a beaming grin. He clinked his glass against yours and took a long drink from whatever it was inside.

Something told you that it wasn't just a juice.

"Congratulations on our win", he grinned, "It was a good teamwork among us"

"Thanks", you grinned back, "I was worried you'll all be cursing me all the way"

"Well if you didn't, we would not see Jay frowned the whole week in his black cat headband", Sunghoon cast his eyes over the room and watched as Heeseung and Ni-ki spoke quietly with secret grins as they eyed the fruit punch from the table.

"Do you know what those two were planning to do?", he asked after a while of watching the two who laughs after seeing Jay is about to get a glass of that red juice.

You smiled carefully, "I can only think they spiked it with something that would make anyone who drinks it puke tommorow", you guessed.

"I wonder if Heeseung is really a good influence on Ni-ki", Sunghoon commented dryly as Jay walked past the two of you with the punch in his hand.

The two of you, you and Sunghoon shared a smile which faded slightly as you cleared your throat. The habit you did every time you realize the significant change in your relationship with him.

Your actions like this had Sunghoon sighing, "Look, Y/N, I've put it off for long enough now, but are you starting to get attracted to me?"

"I'm not", you denied quickly, still not quite looking at him as you glanced briefly at his face.

He narrowed his eyes for a moment, before sighing again, "Fine, I'll drop it for now"

As you turned your attention to him, you ribbed him lightly in an attempt to lighten the stiffling atmosphere that settled between the two of you.

"What's going on, Sunghoon? What's got you acting so unlike of yourself?", you began to ask, to make a conversation.

He scoffed, "I like to think that you've been spending more time with me now than the others", he said as a matter of fact, "that I know one thing is when to not push for an answer"

"Aww Hoonie", you cooed, reaching to teasingly pull at his cheek, "you're finally getting me"

You stilled halfway through the motion when Sunghoon brought his eyes to yours with a shocked reaction and your heart did that pounding that started to happen since the night of the highway accident with him.

Being scared of him catching onto it, you hurriedly dropped your hand back to your side and looked back to Jay who was being dragged unwillingly by Kai towards people who were dancing in the corner.

Sunghoon let out an incredelous laugh when everybody shouted for Jay to twerk until someone decided to make it fun when they turn off the music with Heeseung and Ni-ki wandering over, keeling over in laughter.

"He has a way of making himself the life of the party", you muttered with a disbelieving laugh.

Sunghoon joins you in enjoying the party the whole night, without ever acknowledging the fact that Jake kept to himself while watching the two of you from his corner.

If any of his friends noticed he was quieter than usual, they didn't comment on it.

Added note - I've seen some readers hating on Jay in this one because of his conversation with Jake - remember that he's just being a good friend by being frank.

And even if the truth hurts Jake, it doesn't mean that Jay is already a jerk.

I mean, what I'm trying to do here in his character, it's better to slowly accept what they were seeing than be jealous about it.

Because like they promised in that one chapter, they don't want to ruin their friendship for Y/N, so it would make sense.

If you're expecting for some fight again, well, you'll be disappointed.

After all, character development is already in the process at this point.

If I do anything out of the plot, that would ruin everything.
