IN A SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, A COUPLE RESIDED. They were cuddled together with a blanket over their bodies. The man, Micheal Bennett, held his wife of 10 years, Michelle, close to his side. The house was quiet. Well, except for the noise of the popcorn popping in the microwave of the small two bedroom, three bathroom house and the sound of the movie, The Ring, playing in the background. They enjoyed each others presence.
October 1st, 2006 was the exact date.
It was the beginning of spooky season so they wanted to get into the spirit. They were even starting to make plans on putting up the Halloween decorations already. The two of them loved Halloween. And when I say they loved Halloween, I mean they did. They even met at a Halloween party in the late eightes, then met up after and started a friendship. It's all history from there.
As the movie continued playing, the microwave beeped loudly alarming the husband and wife causing them to slightly jump. They snickered at each other as Michelle leaned up from Micheal's chest and let him move from behind her to go and retrieve it for them to eat. Michelle placed both feet to the ground, rubbing the back of her neck as a weird, sick feeling started to rise from her stomach to her throat.
She bolted to the half bathroom, passing her husband who was to busy seizing a bowl from the bottom of the cabinet to pour their buttered popcorn into. She rapidly flung the door open and quickly lifted up the toilet seat, letting contents that she felt rise up into the toilet. As she was finished throwing up, watching the mixture of food and beverages swirl into the sewage. She leaned her back to the side of wall holding her stomach that was now killing her to say the least.
As Micheal made his way back to the living room to see his wife gone, so he started calling her name. A faint 'here' was heard from the opposite side of the house. He placed the popcorn onto the tv stand and walked across the house. After, he walked up to the half bath to see his wife leaning against the wall, hissing in pain. He was about to step into the bathroom when something caused him to stop eyes wide.
"What?" his wife panted as barrels of sweat started to drip from her face. "What's wrong?"
"You're stomach. . . It's huge." Michelle gave her husband a 'what did you just say' look and a glare.
"Okay, that was rude," Michelle rolled her eyes. "Can you maybe be helpful and help me off the bathroom floor and drive me to the hospital? My stomach is killing me, I think I caught something," Michelle grunted in pain once again as Micheal shook his head.
"I didn't mean that. I meant that as. . . You look pregnant," he reworded as his wife gave him a weird look and finally looked down at her stomach.
It looked as if she was nine months. The full forty weeks pregnant. Michelle wasn't pregnant before this occurred and she was pretty sure of it. Reasoning being was that they were trying to get pregnant and start a family for the past couple of months. But, after many failed attempts, they decided to just let it go for a while and try again after a year. Micheal ran from his spot and grabbed the house phone, quickly dialing nine-one-one and telling them how his wife all the sudden became pregnant and needed immediate assistance.
After talking to the medical for the past five to six minutes, Michelle began screaming. The ambulance was five minutes out, so if she could just hold on for that long, she would be okay.
If only it was that easy.
The baby was coming now or never. Micheal tried his best to stay calm. Doing breathing exercises and bring out towels and water, just in case she needed it. Or he needed it. He was sweating as must bullets as her that if someone walked in, they would think he was about to give birth. The breathing exercises were the only thing that was keeping this black, curly haired man calm. And also his wife, but he was not trying to put more stress onto himself.
He removed her pants and held her hand as the pain starting her hurt more and more. As if an Angel was watching this happen, the ambulance pulled into their driveway, rushing to door as fast as they can.
"It's open! Please, come quick!" Micheal begged as they made their way towards the newly pregnant woman.
The three nurses made way into the bathroom as one started to tell her to remain calm and that everything would be alright. After ten excruciating minutes of pushing, a cry from a baby was heard form the bathroom. Micheal made his way to his wife to see a baby girl. Her chocolate, brown eyes and skin resembled her parents. She also inherited the dark, curly hair from her father. As a nurse covered the kicking baby in a bright, yellow towel she began to wipe the excess blood off her fragile body. Making sure not to hurt her in anyway.
"Here you go, Mrs. Bennett. Your new baby girl," The nurse spoke as she handed the baby to Michelle and a tear escaped from her eye.
"Hey, baby, it's mommy," she looked up to see her husband watching the interaction. "And the man in front of us is your daddy," she smiled at the now calm baby. Micheal couldn't help but smile. He finally had a child, something he's been dreaming of for ages. "Do you wanna hold her?" Micheal nodded as he leaned down beside his wife, cradling the child into his grasp as the nurses worked on his wife.
"Hi, sweetie, it's daddy," he smiled as his daughter sent a resembling one back. "You look so beautiful, darling. I can't wait to watch you grow up," Micheal smiled as a nurse walked back over to him and grabbed the newborn from his grip to bring her back to her mother.
Micheal followed the nurse as she placed the child onto the mothers chest. The nurse then started to talk about how the newborn needed to stay two nights in the hospital and then would go back with the family after they took tests. They also needed to come up with a name. As the night soon came to a close, the medical packed its things and began moving the newborn to the hospital along with Michelle and Micheal who were following the ambulance to the hospital.
"Well, that was very strange," Michelle admitted as her husband chuckled along with her, turning on the blinker, still following the ambulance. "I can't believe we have a daughter. I wasn't even pregnant before. This is just. . . all moving so fast," Michelle gave her husband an unsure smile and Micheal gave a replicating one back.
"Don't worry. We have each other. We can do this together," Micheal smiled as his wife nodded, moving her hand to the radio, turning up the music so it wasn't so silent. Once they made it to the hospital, Micheal's parents and Michelle's dad were there as well. They were called as soon as the married couple entered the car and were let known of the situation.
"So it just happened? Just like that, nothing else?" Michel's mother questioned.
"Yep, just like that," he nodded. "No other detail to tell," he held his wife's hand as they watched their newborn squabble and throw her tiny arms around the clear crib like box they had her in. The NICU was filled with other newborns and babies who were either asleep or crying.
"Well, there is just one thing we haven't decided," Micheal admitted.
"What?" The three questioned in unison.
"The name. I was thinking Ellie," Micheal announced. "You know, it's a cute, kind name that has a ring to it."
Michelle tilted her head to the side as she put out her idea. "Well, I was think Ana. That's also a nice name."
"Well, why don't you guys put the names together, hmm?" Michelle's dad suggested. "You could name her after you mom, Elle."
The two other now grandparents nodded to each other as they liked the name. It wasn't really a name people had now so it wasn't really common. And, sense it was named after Michelle's mother, it would be as a remembrance to her since her death.
The newly parents looked at each other and nodded with a shrug. "Elliana," Micheal spoke aloud, "that's beautiful," Micheal spoke as he brought his wife into a hug.
And there we have it. Elliana Bennett was brought into this world. Over the course of those two days, the couple and grandparents went out and bought as many baby clothes, equipment, and anything else they could possibly need for the new born so they would be ready when they picked her up.
Once the two days were up, they got a crib set up, clothes and cleaning supplies bought, also some food, and some cute blankets and toys for her to play with. As they had some down time, they got to thinking of how the pregnancy was so random. I mean, how could someone just magically get pregnant at random. The couple then remembered the situation that happened in nineteen eighty nine with the multiple woman randomly giving birth.
"I mean, what if I'm connected or something?" Michelle pondered. "Maybe she wasn't supposed to be here orโ" Michelle started biting her nails and worrying. A bad habit that she tried working on but it would always come back to bite her in the ass.
"Don't worry about that now. We finally have a child, something we've been wanting for so long," Micheal leaned down in front of her, holding her hands in his. "Maybe it's fate or just that the angels blessed us for no reason or something, but," Micheal sighed, "we will give her as much love as we can provide. No matter what. Okay?"
Michelle nodded as she leaned forward pulling her husband into a hug as he rubbed her back. "I can't believe we're a family. I just can't!" Michelle squealed as Micheal smiled.
"Now that's the spirit. Let's get some rest since we've got to pick Elliana up tomorrow," Micheal smiled, pulling his wife into the master bedroom and they got ready to sleep. They were over bared with joy as they went to sleep now as a three person family.
