"Okay," she took Cutie into her hands and stood up, fixing her shirt. "But, you don't have a car."
"So?"
"How're weโ" he grabbed onto her shoulder and he spacial jumped them to her street. Elliโregretting the decision when she felt sickโtook a few steps forward before regaining her balance.
"You're welcome," he began to walk off.
"Five." he stopped and turned around as Elli placed Cutie on the lawn so she could use the bathroom. "How'd you know about my other power? That I could see the dead? And how'd you know that they progressed overtime? Because I didn't know that."
Five was about to speak, but Elli interrupted him again, "And don't say you guessed. That was a horrible lie."
Five sighed. "I just. . . assumed. All right?" he walked away again.
"But that'sโ" she was met with the sound of Fives spacial jump and sighed turning to the house. She looked at Cutie who was done doing her business and shook her head. "He's impossible sometimes, huh?" she picked up the rabbit pet her continuously.
Walking up the driveway and down the pathway to the stairs that led to the door, she twisted the knob and let herself in. Bonnie and Mary left minutes before, so they left the door open just in case she were to come back.
She closed the door and locked it before putting Cutie on the ground and she happily hopped away. Probably to her small bed she had to get some sleep since she's been up for so long.
Elli heard creaking from the other side of the house and stopped all and any movement. Waiting until she heard another sound, which she did, she slowly reached into the coat closet and got out the bat. She held it in her right hand and waited for another sound.
The sound came closer and closer to her and she held the bat at a ready. The footsteps started to turn the corner of the kitchen and come near her so she lifted the bat up and was about to swing.
"Elli, stop!" shouted Debbie, putting her hands out.
"Oh, my God, Debbie," she put a hand on her chest. "How'd you get in?" she placed the bat back into the closet.
"Slide door. I was worried about you," Debbie came forward and Elli chuckled.
"Oh, really? Is that right?" Debbie gave a weird look.
"Yeah? Is that bad?"
Elli scoffed and smirked, "No, not at all. Just kinda wondering about somethings right now. Especially what happened at the dance," rolling her eyes.
Debbie gave a confused look as she now followed Elli up the stairs. "What're you talking about?"
Elli turned around to her harshly. "Are you actually gonna play dumb?" Debbie gave another confused look. "Oh, so you are? Alright. Fine by me. Okay, act dumb, Deborah. Act dumb."
Elli sat down on her bed as Debbie came over to her and sat beside her. "What happened at the dance?"
"What do you mean "what happened?" You know what happened. I saw it."
"Saw what?"
"You and Kenny kissing right in front of my face," Debbie looked down. "Exactly. You knew. And you tried to act as if nothing was wrong."
"Elli, if you'd let me explainโ"
"Explain what? What's there to explain, Deb? I watched it with my own eyes! I saw you placing your hands on his chest, his arms around your waist, and you shoving your tongue down his throat," Elli hissed as her eyes started to glisten.
"Elli! Please, just listen to me!" Debbie shouted as Elli gave her a long look before sigh and motioning her hand for her to continue.
"We were dancing and then. . .
"You're a good dancer," Kenny smiled at Debbie as she gave an uncomfortable look.
"Thanks," she started to retract her arms from his shoulders mid song, but he brought them back up.
Why did I agree to this, Debbie thought to herself as she sighed aloud and kept her arms in the position Kenny put them in.
She was dreading this. She wanted to dance with Elli, not Kenny. But Kenny had to swoop in and take her like he always tries to do. The song finally came to an end and Debbie watched as people now moved around in their spots and the next song started.
"I'm gonna go dance with Elli now. I promised her I would," she quickly moved her arms away and moved away from Kenny.
"Wait," he stopped her, "I saw Elli go to the balcony. I'll bring you to her," and grabbing her hand, he brought her to the balcony.
Arriving there, Debbie didn't see Elli at all.
"Where'sโ"
Debbie was interrupted by Kenny turning her towards him and placing his lips on hers. He kept a tight grip around her waist and she tried to break free. Pushing her hands on his chest for him to let go, but he wouldn't.
As footsteps started to come towards them, Debbie tried to take a breath to yell out to the person that she was being forced on, but Kenny brought her closer. The footsteps receded away and Kenny broke free from the kiss.
Debbie quickly wiped her mouth and pushed Kenny away from her. "You asshole!" she slapped him straight in the face.
"What the hell was that for?" Kenny shouted as he held his cheek.
"Why'd you kiss me? You know I'm dating Elli."
"Oh, pfft," he threw a hand through the air. "Like that was gonna last. You know you like me no matter how much you deny it."
"Kenny," she stepped towards him with a stern look. "I don't like you. I never will. I've been telling you this."
"What about in the closet? I kissed you andโ"
"I never kissed back. I've always liked Elli. Get over it!" she kneed him in the balls and walked off.
"After that, the party started to clear out. I tried looking for you, but Kenny came up to me and said you went home by yourself for an emergency or something."
Elli looked down. "I'm sorry. I guess I overreacted a bit. I shouldn't have yelled at you like that."
Debbie placed a hand on hers and they intertwined fingers together. "It's not your fault."
Elli sighed. It was now or never and she couldn't keep holding it in. If she didn't tell her, it would feed off of her like a disease, or bacteria. She had to do it now.
"I have to tell you something." Debbie perked up in interest. "I've been meaning to tell you for a while because I've felt like this since October and I was going to tell you after I danced with you at the gala, but never got around to it becauseโ"
Debbie shut her up with a kiss. "The point. Get to the point, Elโ"
"I love you."
Elli looked her straight in the eyes and said. She was practically screaming on the inside and was praying that Debbie felt the same. Her heart was now beating rapidly and her palms were getting sweaty.
A pause.
Another pause
More pauses.
After a few more moments of silence, Elli became worried.
Does Debbie not love her back?
