"Juniper!"

"Lilo!"

Lilo was being pulled out into the sea, her arm outstretched to the beach where Juniper was. Juniper had tried running to her, but she found herself sinking into the sand.

"Juniper save me!" Her sister cried out, her eyes were full of tears. Thunder roared throughout the area. Juniper looked down at her legs, up to her knees were buried in sand. She tried budging them out, but she couldn't move them.

A giant wave arose in the sea.

"Lilo!" Juniper yelled.

Juniper shot awake in her seat, her chest rose and fell quickly. It was just a nightmare. She had been having those ever since she woke up. They seemed never ending sometimes.

She straightened her posture and stood up, stretching. She heard a few voices on the ship coming from the cockpit. Cashmere and Serenity were there, talking. They had probably just recently landed in Five.

District Nine wasn't as worrisome as Juniper thought it would be. Once the three arrived in town, they had gotten noticed immediately. A few people had taken them into a large and popular bar on the outside of the town and let Juniper perform. She was surprised on how many people had showed up, word must've spread quickly.

Peacekeepers eventually did find out and cut the performance off. However, the three girls escaped before they were ever seen. The District had handled the rest, Juniper had just hoped they were okay.

"You're awake." Serenity smiled, grabbing her camera.

"Are you alright?" Cashmere asked, putting a hand on her friends arm. Juniper shrugged, grabbing her guitar case on the floor.

"We have work to do." Juniper walked to the ships exit, Cashmere sighed, following behind her. The girls put their cloaks on and walked off the ship. The three had no idea how to navigate this district, so this would be interesting.

Juniper pointed into the sky where a bunch of smoke was being emitted. The three girls climbed a nearby hill and looked over the tree line. A city was on the other side of the forest. They saw giant metal structures. It was nothing like District Four.

District Four, although they had a lot of land, had a few main towns and smaller ones surrounding it. They were all connected. However, their architecture always remained the same. Beach houses, cabins, usually old things.

District Five seemed to be all in one main area, one giant city. It looked cool to Juniper, just a lot different than what she was used to.

"Well, no time to waste!" Serenity began walking down the hill, Cashmere and Juniper followed her. It was a long walk, but they eventually made it into the city. The streets were packed, it was all very grey scale, not much color.

"So, what's the plan?" Cashmere asked. Juniper shrugged, not really knowing. She wanted to try and find Nina's family, but she wasn't sure if it was a risky move or not. Though, it was their only lead on how to get around.

"We could find Victors Village." Juniper wondered. "But it might be risky, maybe we can just make our way around and go from there."

Cashmere nodded. The two kept their heads down while Serenity kept a look out on where to go. Juniper wasn't sure if District Five was similar to District Four with pubs for music. She was sure there were bars of some sort somewhere, but it wasn't her hometown or her people.

Juniper noticed homeless people on the side of the street. People begging for food, for cash. Some people stopped by to try and help, but their wallets seemed just as empty.

The three stumbled across a small grassy area in between two large buildings. There was small dying tree in the middle of it and a few stones lying around. A graveyard.

The graveyard was empty besides a small bouquet of withering flowers on top of a grave. The three kept moving forward. Juniper had an odd feeling, but it wasn't a bad one.

They stumbled upon a small theatre. Walking inside the small lobby, there was a few people inside the lobby. Juniper looked through the double doors and saw an ampitheatre. The stage was way below the seating, it wasn't what she was used to.

Serenity walked up to the clerk and began asking questions. Cashmere and Juniper were nervous. They didn't exactly know how this was going to go.

"I saw a poster outside saying there's a small concert going on tomorrow. My friend here is a performer, she wants to break out of her shell and play some music." Serenity smiled, hyping up Juniper who gave a small wave.

The clerk seemed bored until she looked over and saw Cashmere and Juniper. It took her a moment, but her jaw dropped and her face was full of excitement, confusion, and shock. She didn't know what to feel.

"Oh my god! Yes!" She yelled, gaining some eyes. Juniper turned away and faced the wall, not wanting to know she was there. "Yes, yes. People here would love that."

"Perfect!" Serenity said, getting giddy. "We'll be here tomorrow. Please keep it on the downlow." Serenity winked, walking out. Cashmere and Juniper quickly followed her back out on the street.

"That seemed a bit easy." Cashmere looked at Juniper, who nodded.

"All of the districts are against the Capitol, girls." Serenity whispered. "Especially Five. They just need a little push. The only district you need to worry about is Two."

District Two was the closest district with the Capitol. Peacekeepers were trained there and they handled weapon manufacturing. They would definitely be a difficult district to get on the rebels side.

"I'm hungry." Serenity said after a moment, looking for a restaurant or somewhere to eat nearby.

"We can't really just be out in the public, hate to tell you." Cashmere dismissed her, Serenity rolled her eyes. While the two bickered back and forth, Juniper felt as if someone was watching her. She looked around, not seeing any peacekeepers nearby.

A sudden wave of coldness went down her spine. She looked behind her towards where they walked from before, the direction of the graveyard. She saw a familiar figure that disappeared quickly with the crowd.

Juniper began walking over to the graveyard again. Cashmere called for her, but Juniper didn't answer. Looking to the grassy area in an industrial city, she noticed a man at one of the graves. It wasn't who she had seen. The person she had seen was wearing all white and had short brown hair. Though they were far, their aura seemed to comfort her.

Juniper walked closer to the man, he seemed to be praying. He was down on his knees. Juniper read the gravestone. Her heart sank.

HERE LIES

Nina Sonnet

Victor of the 67th Hunger Games
50 ADD - 75 ADD

Beloved & Loving Daughter

"You must be Abraham Sonnet." Juniper softly spoke. The man raised his head slightly, turning to face Juniper who stood above him. Juniper noticed some of his features that resembled her late friend.

Nina had barely mentioned her parents, Juniper just knew that after Nina's games- her mother had passed away. Juniper knew Nina's father had struggled with the death, but he always remained strong for his daughter. Now, he sat before Juniper. He had lost both of his girls.

"You are Juniper Plinth." He stuttered. He slowly stood up. His legs were shaking and he blinked a few times, as if she would disappear before his eyes. Juniper nodded.

"I'm... sorry about Nina." Juniper managed to speak out, looking at the headstone then back up at the man. "She was an amazing friend, I just wish I had saved her when I had gotten the chance."

The man didn't answer, he just put his arms around Juniper's neck and pulled her in to a hug. Juniper hesitated, but put an arm around his torso. He silently sobbed, and Juniper stood there to comfort him.

This man had lost his wife and his daughter. Juniper didn't want to imagine what that had felt like for him.

"Daddy?" A little girl voiced. "Who's that?"

The two pulled apart from the hug and Juniper noticed a little girl. She looked exactly like Nina. Short black hair, a white dress, brown eyes. She had the same exact features as Nina Sonnet did.

"This is one of your sisters friends, Nila." Abraham wiped some of his tears away, smiling. Juniper smiled, kneeling down to get eye level with the girl. She was probably no older than ten, if Juniper were to guess.

"Hi, you're very pretty." Nila complimented Juniper, who smiled.

"You are too, the most beautiful girl I've seen in such a long time." Juniper said. "It's nice to meet you, Nila. I'm Juniper."

"Nina talked about you!" Nila's face erupted into a smile. "She talked about you all the time. You and... Um... Lenin?" The girl tried to think of another name. Lennox.

Juniper smiled, but deep down her heart hurt. She missed Lennox. She didn't know how she had kept up a brave face for so long. People must've thought she was selfish and didn't care about the people that were taken. She seemed so unaffected on the outside. Nina's death. Lennox, Johanna, and Lilo being captured. Juniper wasn't close with Annie or Peeta, but she still wished they were here in some way.

"Lennox." Juniper said. She stood back up. "How are things here?"

Abraham looked at his daughter and took her hand. He seemed hesitant to answer.

"Not well." He admitted. "After the games, Peacekeepers barged into the houses in Victors Village, all of the victors are gone. Every single one, some of the family too."

What?

Even if the victors weren't apart of the planning in the arena, they were still facing the consequences of what the victors inside the arena had done.

"I was afraid Nila and I were next, they've been patrolling the village every single day. If anybody mentions a victor or anything about the rebellion..."

"You two can stay with us." Juniper offered. "We have a safe place for you guys, I promise no harm will be done to you there as long as I'm around."

"No, there's no need." Abraham shook his head.

"Please, I insisit." Juniper said. "It's the least I can do for you guys."

Abraham hesitated, but nodded his head.

"But before we can go there, I need to do something. Could you maybe help us out?"

โ—ใƒปโ—‹ใƒปโ—ใƒปโ—‹ใƒปโ—

Juniper, Serenity, and Cashmere- with the help of Abraham Sonnet were able to find a place to stay down for the day. He had brought them food and volunteered to send some information to his friends about the performance tomorrow. He promised they were with the rebellion.

Abraham also owned the theatre. The business was very slow, but once Nina had won and the name Sonnet became more well known in the district, the Sonny Theatre exploded with popularity.

On the way to the theatre venue, Juniper, with the help of Nila- picked a few flowers and made a bouquet to lay on Nina's grave.  Juniper kissed her hand and laid it on her headstone. She said a few thankful words in her head to her friend, promising to avenge her, and the group continued towards the theatre.

They had to go in through the back way with the help of Abraham due to the amount of people waiting out front.

Juniper seemed a bit more nervous than usual. She was backstage, her foot was tapping on the floor and she was picking at her nails. She didn't know why she was getting stage fright now of all times.

Everyone was in the audience waiting for her to come out, Cashmere included. So she couldn't really talk to anybody. She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths.

What if she gets captured? What if they don't like what she has to say? What if she gets blamed for Nina's death?  What if all of this is for nothing, and she can't save the people she loves.

"You always try to stand for what you think is right and try to protect the people you love. I love how you don't care what people think about you, you just go with it."

Juniper didn't know why Finnick's voice had popped into her head. She was sure he hadn't said that to her before, but it was in her mind. The phrase repeated over and over again, and after a minute, her breathing had calmed down.

Her name was announced and she took a deep breath, holding her guitar in hand and walking out onto the stage. She wasn't sure if anybody would cheer, but they did. She walked up to the microphone and smiled, waiting for people to allow her to speak.

"District Five, thank you so much for having me. It's truly an honor to be here performing for you all today." Juniper smiled, taking in the amount of people that stood before her. Instead of being below her- they all stood in rows eye-level and way above her.

It was scary, like they were looking down on her. But their support and love for her seemed to power over the fear she had of them.

"I only have a few songs I'd like to play for you all today, I'll get right into it. I don't want to talk you ears off just yet."

Juniper did her normal songs, just like she had done in District Four. She didn't rehearse the speeches in between, they had just come naturally to her as the performance went on. However, she performed a fourth one that her grandmother had taught her, Lucy Gray had written it before she had run away.

"District Five just needs a push."

Juniper remembered something that Plutarch had told her previously. District 5, the district of electricity, had a direct connection with the Capitol. She knew Beetee was having trouble getting through to the Capitol connections. District 5 could play a vital part in the rescuing of the victors.

"Are you, are you coming to the tree. Where they strung up a man, they say who murdered three."

"Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met up at midnight, in the hanging tree."

"Are you, are you coming to the tree. Where the dead man called out, for his love to flee?"

"Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met up at midnight, in the hanging tree."

Juniper knew Lucy Gray had written the song, however, her grandmother knew nothing of the actual meaning behind it other than assumption. Juniper had guessed it was about Snow.

"Are you, are you coming to the tree? Where I told you to run so we'd both be free."

"Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree."

"Are you, are you coming to the tree?"

"Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me."

The necklace of rope, the hanging tree, it gave her memories back to when her grandmother told her about Sejanus Plinth, who was hung because of a suspected betrayal to the Capitol.

"Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met up at midnight, in the hanging tree."

Juniper finished her last song and an applause erupted a short moment later. She bowed a few times and took the microphone into her hands.

"District Five, before I go I want to tell you something that's been on my mind."

"The government who looks over us has no right to starve you and punish you for no reason! They have no right to take away your freedom. The Capitol was meant to be everybody's government. Something to protect us, but they never did. They make us and our children fight to the death in a game that provides a kind of entertainment to them."

People cheered, throwing their fists into the air and the area filled with yells in agreement.

"I must thank you all, my friend, Nina Sonnet... She loved you all dearly and I can't thank a better audience tonight here other than you all." Juniper gestured her free hand around the room, gesturing to every single person. "Thank you for taking care of her for so many years, I know she's looking down at you right now smiling."

"I want you all to find your voice, when you're ready. It might not be now, but I want you all to know who and what you're fighting for. Just remember that, alright?"

Juniper smiled as the audience cheered and began filing out. She packed up her stuff and they all left out the back way. Juniper's odd feeling was gone now, she felt as if it was Nina looking down at her. She hoped she had made her proud.
