Jungkook's POV:

Finally.

I was finally getting out of this boring hell hole.

My nursing assistant, Amanda, had gotten all my belongings together and all I was waiting on was the nurse to bring me my discharge papers.
After that I was a free man.

All I wanted to do right now was to go home and enjoy a movie or something on my couch with Y/N.

Hmm...

Since when did I picture being at home with her there?

Right now, going home and her not being there didn't seem that appealing.
I would actually go back to work instead of going home.
But I knew she was going to be there with me, and I looked forward to it.

What was she doing to me?
And where was she?

She didn't realize how fast they were able to get the papers around, I'm assuming since she wasn't back yet.
She wanted to be here when I got discharged, but she had also seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else...
Was she starting to find me annoying to be around?

For the past few days Y/N had been excusing herself for about two hours in the afternoon.

I figured she was just going to go get cleaned up or
something, but she always came back with the same clothes and didn't look any different other than the smile that she couldn't remove.

Her joy seemed to be growing, almost as if she was...

No.

She wouldn't be leaving me here to go and see... Namjoon.

A knock on my door made me drop the dreaded thoughts and I looked up to see my nurse for today, Cindy, come in with a handful of papers in her grasp.

"Alright Mr. Jeon, here are all of your prescriptions, instructions, and such. All the information you need is here on these sheets and if you have any other questions, feel free to give Dr. Min Yoongi a call at his office. The number is on the front."

she smiled and looked at me over her glasses.

"You are officially free to go."

I nodded.

"Thanks."

I took the papers and stood up to where my lonely bag was sitting.
Y/N had taken most of our belongings to the car earlier today so I didn't have much to haul out last minute.

Cindy nodded and walked out, when Amanda came in after her.

"Hey squirt."

I called her, giving her the nickname because of her size, not age.
Although I was sure she wasn't much younger than I was.

She smiled brightly crossing her arms.

"I don't think I'll miss you calling me that."

I chuckled.

"I'm sure you will."
I grinned, then lifted the bag.

"Do you need any help?"
she asked nicely.

I was surprised at how attentive the CENA's were here, or at least this one more than the rest. Plus she had taken very good care of not only myself, but of Y/N.

"No, Lee had grabbed the rest earlier."

I stopped and once again wondered where my wife could possibly be.

"Say, Squirt, do you know where she is?"

I looked to her for an answer and she nodded.

"Yeah, she's on the third floor."

Third Floor? I gave her a confused look.

"What is she doing up there?"

"Last I heard, she was reading to the patients. Want me to take you up there?"

I nodded and walked towards the door where she was.

"Yes, if you are able."
She smiled.

"Sure thing!"

Amanda had led me to the elevators and up a floor.

That part was easy, but she walked off and lead me to a hall off to the side where I saw the sign thatannounced it's specialty.

𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭

What was she doing here?

Wait... didn't she come up here a few days ago to see the Doctor that was taking care of me?
That young, skinny, wimpy man?
One that had a build like Namjoon did? Not one like me...

"She's down this hall to the right. There is an open area where she reads to patients."
she patted my large arm with her tiny hand.

"Take care of yourself, Jungkook. And take care of that wife of yours."

her brown eyes gave me a look of her truly caring.
I nodded at her.

"Thank you, Amanda."

"My pleasure."
she smile and turned to go back to the elevator and back to work.

I took a deep breath and started down the long hall.
I was surprised to find most of the rooms were empty as I passed by.

Then suddenly I heard a few small footsteps followed by something little running into the back of my legs.
I quickly turned and froze.

There sitting on the ground was a child.
A small scarred child.

I swallowed hard as I didn't even know how to react to the sight of her.

Her face was marred just as her hands were, her strawberry colored hair was patchy on her bad side, but her gentle green eyes were open wide with a bit of fear.

I quickly cleared my throat and squatted down so I could seem less intimidating.
I also gave her a small smile, hoping the fear in her eyes would disappear.

I knew I was large and scary, but it honestly killed me to see such a small, innocent child afraid of me.

"Are you alright?"

I asked, my deep voice booming regardless of how gentle I tried to sound.

It looked as if she had run into me on accident and fallen onto her butt.

She didn't say anything.
She just stared.

I sighed and ran my hand through my longer hair and tried to think of something else.
I stopped though, when I noticed her eyes caught sight of the bandaged around my forearm.

"What's that for?"
I heard her sweet voice finally speak, and it was like music to my ears.
She had such a dainty voice.

"This?"

I asked, pointing to my arm.

"Yeah. What happened?"
She asked, not seeming afraid anymore. I took that as a good sign.

"I was in a fire and got burned."

Understanding and... excitement flashed over her face as she stood up and came right up to me.
Her tiny hands came over and gently touched it.

The light touch didn't even hurt, but I just stood still and let her examine the bandage.

"Does it hurt?" she asked.

"A bit, yes."
I honestly told her.

Her hand lifted up and her emerald eyes looked up to meet mine.

"It won't hurt after a while."

she told me, causing my heart to sink.
Damn.

Here I was feeling sorry for myself for having a few new scars, when this poor child was scarred more than I could ever imagine.

"What's your name?"
she asked, now smiling brightly.

"Jungkook." I answered her.

"And what beautiful name do you hold?"
I asked, feeling at ease with this small girl.

"Lily!" she giggled.

"You're handsome."

she blurted out and I could see a small tint of red on her left cheek that was unharmed.

I couldn't help but be surprised by the words of such a little girl.
She found me handsome? Me?
A tall, mean looking, large, loud man?

"Well, thank you. You're quite beautiful yourself, princess."

As if my words were from God himself, her face lit up like a bright star.

"You like stories, Mr. Kook?" she asked.

"Sure, I guess."

I shrugged.
Shock came over my face when she stood, grabbed my hand and began to pull me towards the end of the hall.

My tall body had to bend over a bit for her tiny hand to still keep hold of my gigantic one.
She held on tightly to my last two fingers as we made it to the end of the hall and turned right where a large open area was.

My entire being froze.

There in the middle of the room on the carpeted area, was none other than my wife, Y/N.

She sat with a small boy, who was also covered in burns, in
her lap and a book in her hands.

Surrounding her were about twelve children of different ages all sitting as she read to them.

Her auburn hair was down and fell over her shoulders, her grey eyes bright as morning light as they read over the lines of the book.

The smile on her face made the entire room fill with joy. Her heart was bare before me here, in this moment.
Her sweet voice calmed the room with love and affection and the story she read seemed to come alive for the children all around her.

She was beautiful.

I could no longer deny the attraction I had towards her.

Seeing her here, with all these children, the life that poured out of her was breathtaking.

Sure, she wasn't as skinny or tall, or even as good looking at Jiyeon was...
But she was more beautiful and gorgeous than she ever would be.

How in the hell had I convinced myself that she was anything like Jiyeon?
Here I was, trying to compare her to my Ex when in all reality, that was an insult.

Y/N was nothing like Jiyeon.

Never would be.

This woman was loyal and caring, smart and hard working, stubborn and trusting.

Compassionate. Loving. Lovely.

Ha! Who would have thought seeing a woman with children like I was now would make my heart beat faster and my breathing labored.

A small tug on my hand caused me to look away from the angel I had found, and focus on the smaller one beside me.

"Would you sit with me, Mr. Kook?"

I swallowed hard and nodded.

I lowered myself to the ground and within a second, Lily was crawling into my lap.

Damn. This wasn't good.

Something was happening to me, and I knew I was too far gone to ever go back.
