ANGELICA'S POV
The wolf didn't make it in time even if it was treated due to blood loss, so we just brought the man into his room. I looked at his bracelet as a brush of confusion painted my mind.
"And who might you be?" Jonathan suddenly asks me with his brows furrowed at the injured spot.
"I'm Angelica Park. I wasโ" he cuts me off.
"I already know that, but I'm asking him." I am shocked; I thought he was talking to me.
"Oh" is the only word that came out of my mouth.
"How long has he been injured?"
"Not long ago, like, thirty minutes" I answered his question.
"Why are you still here?"
"I'm the one who helped him. That's why I'm here; I won't leave as long as he is okay."
"Stop whining; he's gonna be okay. So go back to what you're doing." Jonathan glared at me.
"Butโ" he hisses at me, and his brother grabs my hand and leads us outside his room.
"I'm sorry, but you have to go. The people will be curious if they find you missing too. There aren't many people here, so go back and close your restaurant."
"Fine, but I'll be waiting outside. Okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, so go now." Nicholas pushes me slightly and gestures for me to leave. I sighed, feeling guilty about leaving the boy in there. I saunter, and there's no one outside, nor in the shops, as one television plays.
"Reporting live, as of now at 2:18 pm, there's been an incident of a rabid wolf attacking a citizen. Rumors have spread, and it might be the downpour of the Beon-Yeong Mall." I ruffle my hair in guilt and frustration because I still am worried about that boy earlier.
"I'm still a little bit worried about the boy" I sighed deeply, knowing I had to close down. 2 days have passed, and the news about the encounter in the mall dissipates. But we've been hitting rock bottom since that incident.
"Man, all this food is gonna go to waste if we don't do anything to it." A great idea comes into my mind and claps happily.
"Okay! So what we're gonna do is cook all this and give it to the people working here." I cheerfully smile at them, some of their spirits are lifted, and this one new intern interrupts.
"Like that's gonna happen, what if they already did that?" all of them look at him.
"Dear, I'm the one who's in charge of foods, beverages, appetizers, desserts, and all. I'll call all owners to meet with me, so cook with your heart in it!" I clapped his shoulder and dialed their number. They all agreed and did a full-course meal for everyone working here and the few people who shop here. I don't understand why I even am a part of the Mall.
"Hope you guys like what we did. We put our hearts into it. So dig in!" I smile at them as all of us owners talk about coming into another idea when the same thing happens tomorrow.
"If a few people come in tomorrow, let's try selling them outside. We can't guarantee that we can sell all of our foods and beverages inside, so we have to divide the people working inside and working outside." My best friend, Madison, suggested a brilliant idea that everyone agrees on.
"Okay, so we'll divide the members tomorrow! Let's go dig in." We all cheer, and I sit next to my best friend.
"You know, Maddie?"
"Hmm?" She chomps her food down in one gulp.
"Something's weird with our boss." Madison chuckles at my words.
"He's always weird, don't you know that?"
"Really?"
"Yeah... no, just kidding. I might get fired by spitting nonsense." I scoff.
"I have a pet dog, and I made him a necklace, then the very same necklace with a bell on it is on his wrist." Her eyes widen at me, and she gawks at me.
"Hey... Don't kid with me," Madison laughs nervously. I just look at her thoughtfully.
"Is that real?" I nod when a voice comes right next to me and asks that.
"Oh my gosh, you scared me. You idiot, you know how I get easily surprised, right?" I look at him and see that it's our boss. I stood up abruptly from shock and embarrassment.
"You're... calling me an idiot?" My eyes widen in fear that he recalls that.
"Heh, well, you know Sir Jonathan... It's not like that; I just spit what's on my mind when I get surprisedโ" he cuts me off
"And what did you say?" He points at the bracelet he's wearing.
"Ah, that... It's just the same with my pet dog." He scoffs at me like it's not true.
"Oh, this?" Jonathan raises it and chuckles at it.
"And what if it is your dog's necklace?" I gasped so loudly that even my best friend was shocked.
"That's... mean" I cannot believe what I just heard.
"This, the filthy-looking necklace, was just hanging around outside. And maybe that dogโ"
"That's enough, Jonathan. I'm not going to respect you as you apologize." My eyes are watering at the sudden memory of that wolf getting struck. He's taken aback, his mouth hanging ajar, and so does everyone around us.
"I think I'm going to call this a day. Have a good rest after." I glared at him as I wiped my tears before going back to the mall.
Jonathan's POV
"You know, sir, that's mean, and that might be a joke to you, but for her, it's not. And, stop being weird, gee..." Madison stands up and leaves as the rest of the people do the same, but only one remains. I grin at him to see the loyalty that's left in him.
"Next time, Sir, improvise." He takes his leave, making me feel bad for her. Was that too harsh? I look at the bracelet she made. I think deeply as my brother comes out of the building.
"Heyโ"
"No, apologize." Nick leaves immediately as he answers the call.
"Oh, come on! I'm the boss here!" I shout at him.
"Yeah, and that's why it makes it even worse!" Angelica shouts back, I got... yelled back, maybe that was harsh.
