"It's a little creepy," Brett commented.

"It's not when you remember just how often you all like to go missing," Dax responded as he dripped some of the blood onto the map.

"I, for one, don't care how creepy it is if it gets us them back," Malia commented.

"Just shut up so I can focus," Dax sighed as he shut his eyes, "Faire Γ  voir lΓ  rΓ©6," Dax's head tilted to the side as he tried to locate them. He could feel the pain building up as he chanted quietly, but he was ignoring it. His eyes snapped open and his hands pressed on his temples as a loud ringing filled his ears, "Damn," Dax muttered.

"What the hell?" Brett asked with wide eyes as he kneeled next to Dax.

"I'm fine," Dax pushed him off a bit.

"Your nose is bleeding?"

"Really?" Dax asked as he wiped his nose. He looked down at his fingers to see they had blood on them, "Can't find him," Dax said as he stood up.

"What do you mean?" Scott asked.

"They're cloaked," Dax answered as he wiped his nose and washed off his hands. He gathered his things.

"What does that mean?" Scott asked.

"It means, Scott," Dax outburst as he threw the map of Beacon Hills down, "It means I can't find them with a locator spell!"

"We're back to doing this the old fashion way is what you're saying," Malia sighed.

"If you mean by scent, then yes," Dax sighed as he ran his hand over his face.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"Dammit," Dax breathed as he punched a tree. He shook his hand slightly before his fingers tangled into his hair, "There's nothing. No tracks, no scent. There's no way to find him."

"All Scott has to do is howl and Liam can howl back," Brett assured Dax as he placed his hands on his boyfriend's shoulders.

"Only if he heard me," Scott reminded them as he walked up. Dax cursed again as he kicked the tree.

"Okay, let's stop abusing the tree," Brett said softly as he pulled Dax closer to him.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"Hey, is Kira okay?" Stiles asked as Scott walked into his house, but Scott didn't respond. Instead, he continued past them and went up the stairs.

"Scott?" Theo tried, but there was still no response. Dax and Brett followed him up the stairs and into his room.

"Sorry, I'm only on chapter two. I'm kind of a slow reader," Corey apologized as he looked down at the book in his hands.

"Nah, that's okay Corey," Mason smiled.

"He's right. We don't have time for that anyway," Scott said as he stormed in.

"No, Scott- don't!" Lydia said, but it was too late. Scott put his claws in the back of Corey's neck.

"What the hell?" Dax said loudly as he physically cringed at the thought of claws going into his neck.

"Don't get too close," Brett said as he held Dax back.

"What is he doing?" Theo asked as he, Stiles, and Malia came into the room.

"Tapping into Corey's memories. It's usually something only Alphas do," Lydia said as she glared a bit at Scott.

"And vampires," Dax added as he leaned in closer to Scott and Corey.

"Is it as dangerous as it looks?" Theo asked as he stepped into the room.

"Probably more," Stiles answered honestly.

"Does anyone know if it's working?" Mason asked.

"Dax, what did you mean vampires too?" Brett asked.

"Don't you guys remember... oh right, I only did it to Scott and Liam," Dax sighed as he stood up, "I can do that, but it's not dangerous or deadly. I did it for Lori a while back."

"Explain a little more please," Stiles flailed his arms around.

"It's nowhere near easy, but I can invade all of your thoughts. It's as easy as flipping a switch when it comes to humans, you guys are a bit harder, cursed werewolves are right above you, then young vampires, then witches, and I could only get into an older vampire's head if I drained their blood first," Dax listed off casually.

"That's not creepy whatsoever," Stiles sighed. Scott jumped back with a gasp. Stiles caught him as Corey stood up and went in Lydia's direction.

"Is he okay?" Scott gasped slightly.

"What the hell did you do to me!" Corey yelled.

"You'll be alright," Scott returned.

"There's blood," Corey said slightly scared as he placed a hand on the back of his neck.

"Horrific smelling blood at that," Dax commented as he grimaced. Brett gave him a fed-up look.

"You'll heal," Scott answered as he stood up.

"Scott," Stiles said.

"He'll be fine!" Scott yelled. Everyone looked to one another concerned, "Listen. I think it worked. I saw something," Scott panted as he drew on a notepad. Brett and Dax gave one another concerned glances, "There were tunnels. Pipes on the walls. There were these two huge blue pipes at the entrance. Two on both sides."

"I know this. I've seen this before," Stiles commented from next to Scott, "It's one of the tunnels I used to skateboard in. Remember? My dad caught me one time, told me to never go back?"

"It's the water treatment plant," Lydia said as she looked up from the drawing pad.

"Gross," Dax commented. Brett pinched his side.

"He didn't take his meds this morning," Brett sighed.

"I for one think I am behaving very well," Dax smiled brightly.

"That's where we're going to find Liam and Hayden," Scott said as he looked down at his drawing. In the next few seconds, everyone was following Scott down the stairs.

"Scott... Scott, slow down. Just think for a second, okay? Mason shouldn't be going," Stiles tried to reason as they chased Scott.

"Liam's my best friend. I'm going," Mason said as he walked past Stiles.

"Correction, you are not going," Dax crossed his arms, "You have known about the supernatural for five minutes, and I will seal you in my basement if I must."

"Well, if Stiles is not going, I could use the help," Scott shrugged slightly.

"No, I'm coming just as soon as I talk to my dad. They're moving the body, and he wants to make sure that this time, no one steals it."

"How's he gonna do that?" Malia asked.

"I don't know, but whoever took the last one was strong enough to flip my jeep," Stiles reminded them.

"We can bring Theo," Malia pointed to him.

"You guys realize you're going to have a tribrid on your side right?" Dax asked slightly confused.

"And an extra beta," Brett added in.

"They can hurt you, remember?" Scott reminded Dax.

"Can't they hurt you just as much?" Dax asked, "Vervain won't kill me."

"Someone should stay here and make sure the dread doctors don't make a house call for Corey," Theo said as he looked back to Corey, "I'll stay."

"Scott, Stiles is right. We need to slow down and think," Lydia said.

"I am thinking- about how Liam and Hayden could already be dead."

"You could have hurt him, Scott. Really hurt him," Lydia tried to reason.

"I have to find Liam," Scott answered as they started to walk out.

"No, Mason I was serious," Dax said as he took a step in front of Mason, "Brett and I will be there. You are staying," Dax said with a slight growl.

"No-"

"He wasn't kidding about sealing you in the house," Brett said. Mason glared at the two of them.

"If he is hurt when you bring him back-"

"Don't worry I'll be blaming myself too," Dax said as he and Brett walked out.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"Put this on," Brett said as he gave Dax his talisman.

"Normally I'd argue, but I'm thinking I would take it right now," Dax said as he took the necklace from Brett. He put it on. The four teens walked into the water plant together.

"Do we know where we're going?" Brett asked.

"This way," Scott said as he went down some stairs. Malia, Dax, and Brett followed him. Scott slowed down once they reached the hallway with the pipes Scott had described earlier.

"They might be cloaked, and with all these chemicals it could take all night to find them," Dax sighed as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Liam!" Malia called.

"No splitting up," Brett said as he grabbed Dax's hand. Dax nodded.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Splitting up isn't a good idea," Dax sighed.

"It's the only way to cover enough ground," Scott said, "We each take a tunnel, and since you guys are so against it, you can go together."

"This is not a good idea," Dax muttered as he and Brett walked down the tunnel furthest to the right.

"No kidding," Brett sighed before yelling, "Liam!"

Brett and Dax continued wandering around yelling for Hayden and Liam. They weren't getting anywhere and the chemical smell was getting worse.

Dax and Brett looked up surprised when they saw Malia and Scott, "Okay, we need to make sure that we're not covering the same area," Scott panted.

"You need your inhaler, don't you?" Dax asked.

"Quiet, I think I hear something," Scott panted.

"It's just the lights isn't it?" Malia asked.

"Come on, this way," Scott said as he led them away.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"I'm telling you, we've been here before," Brett sighed.

"What are we doing?" Scott asked as he panted.

"Running around like chickens with our heads cut off," Dax answered.

"I'm pretty sure that was a rhetorical question, D," Brett glared.

"When there's no way," Scott stopped talking as he leaned over and tried to catch his breath.

"Scott, you need your inhaler," Malia said out of concern, "Scott, use it. Use your inhaler."

Scott fell to his knees and supported himself a bit with his hand. He dug into his pocket and pulled out his inhaler. He shook it before using it. He took a moment to catch his breath, "This is all my fault. We're never going to find them. It's my fault."

Brett looked around at Malia and Dax slightly uncomfortable; like it was something he shouldn't be seeing, "I will beat you senseless if you keep telling yourself that, man," Dax said as he held out his hand to help him to his feet. Scott took his hand and pulled himself to his feet, "We keep looking and we don't give up because the second we give up, we lose," Dax reminded them. Brett and Malia nodded along with what Dax said. Scott nodded.

They began searching the plant again.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"Hey, they got them," Dax said as he stopped in his tracks. He had a big smile on his face as he looked down at his phone. Brett smiled as Dax.

"Let's go then," Scott ushered them on. Malia and Scott walked ahead of Dax and Brett.

"Your pretty good at those in times of need speeches," Brett smiled as he rubbed Dax's knuckles.

"Well when you've heard enough of them, it's really just about paraphrasing," Dax shrugged. Brett pulled Dax into a quick hug before they began walking again.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Dax took a breath of relief when he saw Hayden and Liam passed out on the couch. He hugged Theo briefly. Brett rubbed his back as they all looked around the room.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"See, I don't have to take my meds to be helpful," Dax said with a big smile as they walked into his house.

"You still threaten to bite people when you don't take them," Brett chuckled.

"One time," Dax sighed, "One time and I'm never living it down," he complained.

"It was more like four times," Brett reminded him with a smirk as he took a step closer to Dax.

"So what?" Dax asked as he slowly backed away from Brett slowly, "It's not like I was actually going to hurt them. Maybe just a nibble."

Dax's smile widened as he backed himself into the wall. Brett's body pressed against his, "Have I mentioned that I am in love with you?" Brett asked softly as he looked down at Dax.

"I think I still need to hear it," Dax smiled as he got on his tiptoes and connected their lips. Dax panted as he parted his lips and Brett's tongue slipped into his mouth. Dax tugged off Brett's jacket as they made out.

"I'm glad to tell you," Brett spoke against Dax's lips, "Over and over and over again."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Dax and Brett were tangled in Dax's sheets. Dax was staring at the ceiling and Brett was asleep next to him. His soft snores were filling Dax's ears in between his racing thoughts.

He couldn't help but wonder who was next. They barely knew anything about the dread doctors. Dax took a deep breath as he slowly removed himself from Brett's gripped. He carefully climbed out of bed. He slipped on some boxers and sweat pants.

He was almost out of the room when he heard Brett roll over, "What are you doing?" Brett grumbled.

"Midnight snack?" Dax's words came out as more of a question than a statement.

Brett rubbed his eyes as he pushed himself onto his elbow, "Come lay down."

"I wanted to try to finish reading my uncle's journal from the 1700s. See if I can get anything else on the dread doctors," Dax admitted as he stared at the floor.

"You can do that after you've gotten a full night's sleep."

"But-"

"We're both exhausted, D. We were running around a water plant all night like madmen looking for Liam and Hayden. I'll help you read up on them, just in the morning."

"Only if you don't help me," Dax said.

"Huh?"

"There's stuff in there I don't want you to see," Dax admitted as he sat down on the bed.

"Nothing from some old book can change the way I think of you," Brett said. He scooted closer to Dax but stayed lying down. He rubbed Dax's thigh.

Dax let out a dry chuckle, "I'm working wonders for it not to change the way I see my own mother, Brett. I don't want you to see that."

"Alright, I won't help you if you cuddle with me."

"Deal."

Dax slid off his sweatpants and climbed back into bed next to Brett. He ended up falling asleep to Brett drawing circles on his arm.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>

"No, come sit with me," Brett whined as he sat down, "I'll watch tv, and you can read that old book. Promise I won't look."

"Are you okay?" Dax asked as he picked up the journals and walked over to the couch where Brett was sitting down.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Brett asked before taking a bite of his toast.

"I don't know, you just seem a bit more clingy than usual," Dax narrowed his eyes as he sat next to his boyfriend. He placed two of the journals on the coffee table keeping the third in his hand.

"There are creepy doctors that like to perform experiments on genetic chimeras. You are three species rolled into one."

"Brett, I'm okay," Dax said as he kissed Brett's cheek. Brett nodded and pressed his nose into Dax's shirt inhaling deeply. Dax laid his head in Brett's lap and got comfortable while Brett turned on Netflix, "Grey's Anatomy?"

"It's a guilty pleasure," Brett admitted, "Lori made me watch it with her first."

"Does she know you watch it of your own free will?" Dax asked as he wiggled his eyebrows.

"No, and you're not going to tell her," Brett said.

"What makes you say that?"

"A few things," Brett said as his finger traced Dax's chest. Dax glared at him before opening the journal and beginning to read. Brett chuckled before turning his attention onto the tv. He finger-combed Dax's hair while he watched.
