๐ข๐ข๐ข. the roof

Soojin walked on the last step of stairs that make way to the roof of Green Home, taking out her phone, and skipping the song that played, because she didn't even like her. She was wearing a big, dark sunglasses, that hid her eyes, even tho the sky was covered by clouds. But it was warm outside. In her hand, she was holding a red can of cola.

The girl saw a boy, standing on the edge of the building. His right foot was in the air, as he was balancing. Soojin chuckled to herself and walked to him. She put down her headphones, standing on the edge, next to Hyunsoo.

"Hey," she didn't look at him, she looked at the cars down on the street, and she held out her leg, "You jumping?"

"What?" he almost fell off the building, surprised by a sudden voice

"I asked if you're gonna jump," she twisted her head to him, "If so, I want to let you know that even if you jump, you're gonna cause a lot of troubles for others that live here. So try to die in other way or other place"

It already was a week since a boy moved to Green Home. Soojin been in his apartment three times, watching boy playing video games on his computer. They weren't talking much, they enjoyed each others' presence in silent.

Soojin turned around. Not that far away, she noticed a young girl, dancing in the skirt with her pink ballet shoes. She was moving with natural grace. Soojin looked at Hyunsoo, who also noticed the dancing girl.

"It's Eunyoo, Lee Eunyoo," said brunette twisting her head back to the girl, "What I know about her, is that she lives with her brother, and she got expelled from her school. She's pretty, isn't she?" she took a sip from can

Soojin looked at Hyunsoo, who just shrugged. She adjusted her sunglasses that almost fell off her nose, when she jumped on the ground. Eunyoo stopped dancing, when her foot got stuck to a gum on the ground. She sighed angry, trying to take it off. The girl started untying her shoe.

"Ya!" she yelled, noticing two teenagers close to the edge, "Is this yours?" she raised a hand with a shoe

"Yeah, sure" said Soojin sarcastically, walking slowly to her

"Well, then maybe it's your friends?" said Eunyoo, pointing with her head at Hyunsoo

Both girls looked at him. He shook his head, "No"

"Shit"

Eunyoo clapped on her hands, trying to get rid of the dirt. She sat down on the ground, near the exit of the roof, and took out the pack of cigarettes. She held them to others.

"Want one?"

Soojin nodded her head, and took one cigarette. Eunyoo shook the pack in direction of Hyunsoo, but he shook his head, "No"

"Hold it," said the brunette girl, passing the can to the boy. He took it from her, holding the can with both his hands.

Soojin took out a green lighter from her pocket. She lighted it up, and close up her face to it, putting the end of the cigarette in the fire. Hyunsoo watched her attentively, and Eunyoo watched him with a slight smile on her face. Soojin straightened her neck, exhaling the smoke.

Eunyoo pulled her hand with the cigarette, but brunette shook her head, "Aish, I'm not sure if it's for kids, you know" the younger girl kick her on the ankle. Soojin laughed quietly, and threw her a lighter.

She turned to Hyunsoo, taking a can from him, "Thanks. You want a sip?"

He shook his head, "No"

"You are a loner?" asked Eunyoo, looking at the boy, "You've met your match. She's also a loner"

She looked at Soojin.

"I wouldn't describe myself as a loner," brunette took a sip from the can, "And stop being nosy, Eunyoo, not everyone likes chatting about nothing, 24/7. If he doesn't want to talk, that's fine."

"I just thought handsome guys weren't loners. Maybe he's an asshole," she chuckled and looked at Hyunsoo, "Are you?"

"No"

Eunyoo chuckled again amused. She exhaled a white smoke, waiting for someone to say something. When both of the teenagers stayed silent, she got up from the ground, irritated.

"Gosh, you are so boring, I can't" she took her ballet shoes, "Later"

She walked on the stairs to the building and went down. Soojin waved to her for goodbye. She sat down on the ground, patting next to her so Hyunsoo would know, she doesn't mind him sitting there.

The boy sat down, without looking at brunette.

"It's a beautiful day today, isn't it?" she sighed, leaning on her elbows. Hyunsoo twisted his head to her, "The sun isn't burning your skin, the clouds are giving you the shadow, but it's still warm"

"But even that you are wearing sunglasses," murmured the boy

"Hyunsoo...." the girl clicked her tongue, "Sunglasses are made not only to protect our eyes from sun, but also to protect our secrets," the boy looked at her confused, "Besides...." she straightened up, "Don't they just fit me just right? I think I look pretty cool in them. What do you think?"

Soojin put both hands under her chin, making her jaw seem slimmer. She smiled, squinting her eyes, but the boy couldn't see that.

"You look okay" murmured Hyunsoo

"Thanks," she adjusted her sunglasses, "You look okay too"

The teenagers sat in silence. Soojin took out her phone, and opened the camera. The can of cola was standing between teenagers. She pointed it at the view, when clouds uncover a bit of almost yellow sun.
Hyunsoo watched her cogitating. She bit her lip, focused on taking pictures. The boy looked at her brown hair, when she touched them to tuck one string behind the ear, having a feeling that they must be very soft in touch.

Soojin rapidly twisted her head to a boy, feeling his gaze. He flinched a little surprised, but the girl smiled.

"What? You want a picture?"

She pointed a camera on him, and took one blurry picture of him. Hyunsoo quickly raised his hand, covering the lens, and turning his head away. Soojin chuckled, and put down the camera, looking through the photos she took. The screen was too dark, and even when she made it lighter, it was still too dark, because of her sunglasses. She didn't think before putting them on her head. She scrolled to the next picture, smiling to herself.

"I don't think you should hide from the camera, you're really photogenic"

Soojin raised her phone to the boy, turning to him. But he had a surprised and worried look on his face. She stopped smiling, realizing that he is looking at her eye. The girl turned her head, hiding the face in her hair, taking the sunglasses off the head, and putting them back on her nose.

"Shit, I'm sorry," she murmured, holding her head down. She put the phone back to the pocket

"Why do you apologise?"

Soojin looked at Hyunsoo. She pursed her lips. Why did she apologise? That was a good question. She had no reason to do that, she wasn't guilty.

"My friend hit me accidentally with a ball, when we were playing," that was the lamest excuse she could possibly think of, "Don't worry"

"I didn't say I'm worried" murmured Hyunsoo

The girl's face dropped a little. She felt extremely dumb.

"Oh yeah, right. Sorry," she got up from the ground, "I better be going. Bye Hyunsoo"

The girl walked behind him to the stairs. She quickly ran down them, disappearing after a few seconds.

Hyunsoo stayed alone on the roof with a feeling of guilt. He had no idea why he said that. It sounded very rude, and it wasn't his intention.
The truth was that he felt a sick feeling in his stomach, when he saw a big black eye on Soojin's face. Was this the man who was always screaming in her apartment did that to her?

Hyunsoo looked at the can of drink that the girl left on the ground. Then he noticed a small rock that was laying not far away from him. He took it in his hands. He took a swing, and throw it. The rock hit on some doors, making a lot of noise.
