PROLOGUE

Kwon Jae-Sung studied one of the few American students that attended his school. Jacquline Baker. It's not like he really cared for the Americans. In fact he couldn't care less but this student was only slightly interesting. She was getting bullied by most of the student body.

While Kwon could be an asshole, he was never one to bully. Bullying was something people did because they had no lives and Kwon had better things to do.

But what was pissing him off was that she wasn't standing up for herself. At least try. She wasn't. Except just taking all the abuse she was dealing with.

He usually would just sit by and watch it happen. I mean, it was normally women and what was he going to do with the women that stood against her?

But then came Dong-Min. The schools most recent jackass since he found out he could throw a punch.

Kwon stood in the hallway, watching as Jackie had accidentally bumped into him. "I'm sorry!" Then realizing her English, she corrected herself. "I mean-I'm sorry."

Her Korean was okay but the accent needed a little bit of work. Dong-Min laughed along with his friends. "Did you hear that? American trying to speak. Say it again. I don't quite understand."

It was ironic considering his English needed a little bit of work. Kwon eyes the interaction because he knew Dong-Min had a short temper.

Jackie looked completely embarrassed. She averted his eyes but Dong-Min grasped her chin to make him look up at him. "Look me in the eyes, American."

Something about it just pissed Kwon off. He shouldn't get involved. He never does.

But then when Jackie tried to fight against his hold and he gripped her arms tightly, Kwon's opinion changed.

Immediately, Kwon moved in. He grabbed the jacket on Dong-Min and threw him in lockers. His friends started to be on their guard.

"Jae-Sung! What are you doing?"

"Leave her alone before I make you."

Dong-Min laughed like he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Aw. You protecting your bitch? She got a leash on you or something? How bout you do a trick for me?"

Kwon had it. "Here's your trick!" Kwon punched him square in the face, knocking him out.

Jackie watched as the team tried to defend him. One player came at Kwon but Kwon kicked him in the stomach, making him fall in the lockers.

Kwon grabbed the other players arm and twisted it, flipping them on their back. Then he elbowed the player that was coming behind him. He kicked him straight in the head, also knocking him out.

The last player tried to throw a punch. Kwon ducked the punch and spun around, landing his own punch in the player's throat.

The fight was over. Dong-Min started to come about from passing out. "Get better guard dogs from the pound next time."

Jackie watched in amazement. Kwon took on the whole group with too much ease. He started to walk away but she followed him. "Oh my god! That was amazing what was that?" She noticed Kwon was ignoring her. "Okay. Maybe you don't understand. What was that you did?"

Kwon stopped in his tracks, letting out a very annoyed sigh. He turned to her and the sudden action made Jackie bump into Kwon. He ignored the contact. "Your Korean is going to make me kill myself. Stop trying."

Jackie gave him a look of hurt. "Excuse me?"

"I mean stop trying to sound Korean and use the vowels when you speak. And stop sounding nervous."

Jackie blinked a little at the harsh advice. She cleared her throat, holding her books tightly to her chest. "Like this?"

"Better." Kwon tried to walk away again but Jackie grabbed his hand.

"Wait! Please! What you did was so cool!"

Kwon looked at her hand on his and back at her. "Move your hand." He said harshly and to her and Jackie removed it immediately. "Tae kwon do and karate. I learn from my dojo."

Jackie's eyes sparked with interest. "Really? Can I join?"

Kwon let out an amused laugh and he started to walk away again. "They will eat you alive, American."

Jackie wasn't going to let him slide. She got in front of him, making him bump into her. He let out an annoyed sigh, looking down at her. "I'm a fast learner."

"But not in Korean?"

"Well...to be fair I know Spanish, American Sign Language and French...Korean has been a tad bit difficult for me but I'm working on it. I'm even graduating early."

Kwon looked at Jackie's outfit. She looked like a damn cupcake decoration. Even though she was wearing her school uniform, she still stuck out like a sore thumb with her bright pink make up and bracelets she wore. Her hair was tied in a pink scrunchie.

He could never imagine this girl fighting. "You would not last a day."

Jackie nodded understandably. "Okay. How bout you teach me?!"

Kwon shook his head immediately. "Absolutely not."

Jackie tilted her head, curious. "Why not? You don't do much?"

"How would you know that?"

"Because you finish your school work sooner in order to leave school early. I pick up on a lot of things."

She was weird. That's all Kwon could think. "No."

Jackie huffed. "Why not?!"

"I cannot be around..." He gave her one look again up and down and almost threw up at all the pink she was trying to expose. (Which wasn't a lot because of school uniforms but it was enough to freak him out.) "Your energy."

Jackie gasped in offense. "My energy? I am a Pieces I'll have you know and my energy is fine! My horoscope said a change in my destiny is going to happen today and you are that change."

This.

Could.

Not.

Be.

Happening.

"You saved me!" Jackie said.

"No." Kwon lied. "I just can't stand Dong-Min and his buddies. They always try to pick on girls. I think that's weak."

"Still saved me." Jackie said matter of fact like and Kwon groaned, walking away from her. "You will not escape me, Kwon Jae-Sung!"

"American women..." Kwon grumbled in his Korean before walking into his next class.

Jackie needed an escape, a way out. She couldn't handle this anymore. She left her old school because of how violent it became.

Her classmates Miguel Diaz, Samantha Larusso, Tory Nichols, and Robby Keene all were involved in a school fight. There was more but that's all who Jackie remembered.

Jackie was friends with Miguel. She even had a small crush on him. That was until he dated Tory. Then Tory started to bully her.

After the school fight, her parents decided it wasn't safe. Her father got a job opportunity in South Korea and they decided they would move there.

Only Jackie was having a tough time adjusting.

No one liked her. She didn't understand why. She was nice and trying to learn the language while respecting the culture. She didn't know why she was so hated.

The only ones that did like her was the staff. She was respectful while being the brightest student. That was the reason the students didn't like her.

How could an American be liked more by staff than them?

Jackie was trying to practice herself in the gym what Kwon did. She wanted to defend herself. She didn't want people to mess with her anymore.

Kwon was behind her and studied Jackie's form. It was sloppy. Very. "You're doing it wrong."

"I'm fine."

"You're going to hurt yourself."

"Better me than everyone else-ow!"

Kwon shook his head at her stubbornness before walking towards her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and guided her to the bench. When she sat down, he sat with her. He started to feel her thigh muscle and she hissed a little.

"Did I break it doc?" Jackie asked slightly jokingly.

Kwon gave her a look before placing both hands on her thigh and massaging the area. "You pulled your muscle. You're not good with shit talking or fighting. What are you good at?"

Jackie glared at him but didn't say anything. The pain from her thigh was almost instantly going away by him massaging the area. The massage was also starting to feel good to her. Too good.

She bit her lip, looking away from him. "This is awkward."

"You're making it awkward." Kwon said but didn't pull away. "You can't learn to fight in a day."

"I'm a fast learner."

"Not that fast." Kwon took in a deep breath. He was going to regret this. He just knew it. "I'll train you."

Jackie's eyes widen at his statement. Never in a million years did she think she was going to hear that. "You will?"

From her excitement, Kwon was already regretting his words. "You have to be one hundred percent committed. Once you do this there is no turning back."

Jackie nodded, eager to learn. "I promise I will do anything you ask!" She pulled him in a tight hug.

"Get off of me." Jackie pulled away immediately and he dusted himself off. "Do that again and I'll feed you to bears."

Jackie saluted at him. "Yes, sensei." She jokingly said.

What did he get himself into?
