"Stop moving!"
The words Kwon taught her started to flicker in her head.
Survive.
Jackie kicked Park in his private area, making him let go of her right arm. She then smacked him across the face but the pain didn't affect him.
She then resulted in biting his arm and he yelled, pulling away. Jackie kicked him off the couch. She grabbed her phone and ran to the corner of the living room. "Get out!"
Park looked at Jackie, surprised she was able to get out of his hold. He grabbed his book bag and started to head to the front door. "You better not tell anyone about this."
He left. Jackie clutched her heart like it was beating out of her chest. Why couldn't she just catch a break?
She slid down the wall, tears filling her eyes. Maybe she should've just gave him what he wanted.
Jackie opened her phone and texted Kwon to see if they could meet earlier for training. She couldn't do this. Not anymore.
Jackie was actually earlier than Kwon at the gym. She was stretching in their designated spot. This was it. She wanted to learn to fight and she wanted to learn now. Not a stupid lesson.
She needed this. If Kwon had to break her spirit then so be it because it was already cracked.
Kwon walked over to Jackie who was already doing sit ups. "Ah. Someone didn't get to third base did they?" Jackie ignored him and continued to do the sit ups.
He took a better look at her. She was not the same cheerful person she was. She looked drained, tired. All the color that made her pop faded away. Then he noticed the bruise on her lip. "Stand up."
Jackie did as she was told. Kwon walked over to her. He grabbed her chin and examined the bruise. It looked like someone smacked her in the face. "Who did this?"
"No one." She said, not wanting to tell Kwon. Not only was she embarrassed but she was hurt. She didn't want to talk about it. "When I was walking out the door, I hit my face on it. Clumsy me."
She watched while Kwon stared at her. It was like he was trying to find out the truth. He let go of her chin and took a couple steps back. He started to wrap his hands. "Let me see you hit the dummy."
Jackie got into her position. She took a deep breath and hit the dummy three times in the row at the chest area. She had did way better than the last time. "Eidetic memory huh?" He questioned.
"Or maybe I'm just mad.." She mumbled to herself.
"Kick at the dummy."
Jackie got into position. When she did, she tried to side kick the dummy but the target didn't bend back when she did. "Your kicks need some work."
"Your face needs some work." She didn't even know why she said it but she did. She was mad. Jackie had never been this mad her entire life.
Tory Nichols tormented her. Then Ha-Young, then Cameron wouldn't give her the time of day and now Park assaulted her.
She was done.
Kwon tilted his head in amusement. He heard what she said. "Oh? Speak up. I can't hear you." Jackie was silent now. He got in her face and he forced her to look at him. "What? You don't have anything to say? What's got you mad today? Let me guess...you can't handle Ha-Young's comments anymore? Is it all just too much? You know...maybe you aren't cut out for this. Maybe you should just get used to everyone laughing at you. You're the school's mascot, American. Why don't you just live up to the title and give up?"
That.
Pissed.
Her.
Off.
Jackie clenched her fist. Kwon's eyes looked down to the her fist and he chuckled. He looked backup to her. "You want to hit me?"
"Yes."
"So, hit me."
Jackie pulled away to make some distance. She made a move like she was going to just walk away from him but she actually kicked him in the gut.
Kwon felt at his gut. He blocked Jackie's next attack which was a punch to the chest. Jackie tried to hit him again and he dodged.
When Jackie landed a hit to his chest, he realized how hard she was actually hitting. When Jackie tried to kick him again, Kwon grabbed her leg and pinned her down to the mat.
Jackie sighed at defeat. "I suck."
"You do." Kwon agreed. "But you passed the lesson."
He got up from her. Jackie looked at him confused as he helped her back up. "How? I didn't beat you."
"You think you can beat me in a span of two weeks with my thirteen years of training? Princess, you're funny." Kwon grabbed a water bottle and passed it to her. "You passed because you struck first and hard. That was the lesson. You even did it outside of fighting."
Jackie drunk from the water bottle. At least one thing went right from her day.
Kwon noticed she didn't get excited. She usually did when she passed. "What made you mad today?"
"I'm getting bullied because a girl can't handle I'm smarter than her...why wouldn't I be mad?"
"Oh?" He noticed the attitude in Jackie's voice. "What happened to the sweet tone I'm used to?"
"It might be gone forever."
Kwon made an expression Jackie couldn't really recognize. There was a moment a silence before he spoke again. "As annoying as you can be with the...sunshine's and rainbows you do...don't completely shut it off. That's what makes you human."
She honestly wasn't expecting that. Not from the guy that had complained by her energy since they met. "Okay..."
"You can have cupcake privileges back."
"Thank god."
