Y/N's POV

The sun was setting over the softball field, painting the sky in warm hues of orange and pink as you sat on the bleachers, watching the team pack up after another successful practice. The air was warm, carrying the familiar smell of freshly cut grass and the faint chatter of your teammates as they joked around and planned their next hangout.

Beside you, Yuwen sat with his arm casually draped over your shoulder, his usual cocky grin softened into something more relaxed. Ever since the chaos of last week—the confession, Taylor's meltdown, and everything that came with it—things had finally settled into place.

"Nice throw out there today," Yuwen said, nudging you lightly with his elbow. "You almost had me sweating when you caught that line drive. Almost."

You rolled your eyes, laughing. "Please. I saw the look on your face—you thought I was going to miss it."

"Me? Doubt you?" he said, feigning shock. "Never. You're the best on the team, remember?"

"Best besides you, of course," you teased, leaning into him.

"Obviously," he replied with a wink, but his tone was playful.

The banter felt easy, natural. It amazed you how quickly things had fallen into place after everything you'd been through together. Yuwen's cocky edge was still there—it was part of who he was—but now it came with a level of vulnerability and honesty that made you like him even more.

The Team's POV

From the field, your teammates watched the two of you with amused smiles.

"They're so gross," Kai said, shaking her head with a laugh. "Like, can't they save it for after practice?"

"Hey, at least they're happy," Tom said, tossing his glove into his bag. "After all the drama with Taylor, I think they deserve it."

"Speaking of Taylor," Kai said, lowering her voice, "anyone heard from her?"

The group exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of concern and awkwardness.

"Not really," one of the players admitted. "She's been keeping to herself lately. Maybe she just needs time."

Kai shrugged, adjusting the strap on her bag. "Well, let's hope she figures it out. Meanwhile, lovebirds up there better not forget we've got a game tomorrow. If they mess up because they're too busy making goo-goo eyes at each other, I'm benching both of them."

The group laughed, but it was clear from their smiles that they were rooting for you and Yuwen.

Yuwen's POV

As the team filtered out of the field, leaving just the two of you behind, Yuwen leaned back on the bleachers, his eyes fixed on the horizon. The sunset cast a golden glow over your face, and he couldn't help but feel a rush of gratitude for how everything had turned out.

"Hey," he said, his voice soft, "you ever think about how crazy it is? How we ended up here?"

You tilted your head, looking at him curiously. "What do you mean?"

"Like... everything that had to happen for us to get to this point," he said, gesturing vaguely. "The team, the practices, all the drama—Taylor included. If even one thing had been different, maybe we wouldn't be here."

You smiled, reaching for his hand. "Maybe. But I think we were always meant to end up here. One way or another."

Yuwen grinned, his cocky side flaring up for just a moment. "So what you're saying is, you were destined to fall for me?"

You laughed, squeezing his hand. "Sure, Yuwen. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

He chuckled, leaning in closer. "For the record, I think I was destined to fall for you too. Took me a while to figure it out, but... yeah. You're kind of the best thing that's ever happened to me."

Your cheeks flushed, and for a moment, you were at a loss for words. Yuwen wasn't usually this open, but when he was, it hit you like a line drive straight to the chest.

"I think you're the best thing that's ever happened to me too," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper.

Yuwen's grin softened into a smile, and he leaned in, brushing his lips against yours in a kiss that felt like it was sealing something permanent.

From that day forward, you and Yuwen became the team's "it" couple. You balanced each other out perfectly—his confidence with your steadiness, his playfulness with your determination.

Taylor eventually came back to the team, quieter and more subdued than before. While things between the three of you were never quite the same, there was an unspoken truce. Over time, the awkwardness faded, and the team found its rhythm again.

You and Yuwen continued to grow together, both on and off the field. Whether it was nailing double plays during games, teasing each other during practice, or spending late nights talking under the stars, every moment felt like a piece of your own happily ever after.

Because at the end of the day, the best teams are built on trust, teamwork, and a little bit of love.

And as long as you and Yuwen were on the same team, you knew you could face anything together.
