"All right, settle down, everyone. Settle down" Tug spoke against laughter. All of the bears sat around each other with a warm smiles, Tug sat at the center of a spread out circle, Kenai laid Tug beside with (Y/n) laying on his side, while Koda sat down next to them.

Tug notices something, "Hey, don't throw your fish bones there. Somebody could choke on that" He says with a headless fish in his paws, they were starting the game.

"Look, okay, I'll go first" Tug says, "Okay, let's see. The most interesting thing that happened to me this year. Hmm..." He mutters under his breath rubbing his neck thinking.

"Oh, I know, I know. I know! Listen to this. It was when I finally knocked down that tree that was blocking the view from my cave" He says with a proud smile. "Now I got a family of chipmunks staying in my place." He adds as he waves off and laughs with the other bears. Tug looks over to a family of four chipmunks who glare at him angrily. Their glare causes Tug to clear his throat, "Yeah... All right, all right everybody, let me see some paws in the air. Who's gonna be? Come on." All the bear's besides Kenai raises their paws'.

"Tug, I got one!" A cub shouts.

Tug smiles, preparing to throw the fish, over to a small crowd, "Watch me. Hey, gotcha" Tug laughs and tosses the fish to an old female bear.

The old bear stood on her hind legs and hugged the fish. "This year I lost my dear husband Edgar" She says sadly with her eyes shut.

A voice tells out, "Quit telling everyone I'm dead!" Bears turn their heads back hearing the outburst, the old females' eyes opened as she looks up to the sky, "Sometimes I can still hear his voice." She continues.

(Y/n) shakes her head, Koda smiles excitedly getting ready to catch the fish, "I'm getting the next one."

She then tosses the fish over to a purple-ish old male bear with eye bags, he growls before shouting what seems to be gibberish, but in reality he said, "I almost froze while I was crossing a huge icy passage. It was something I only barely survived. BARELY!"

Everyone looks at him confused with the language he just spoke, he laughs wheezing. The bears nodded cluelessly with a forced grin, as he cackled out, tumbling onto the ground and he throws the fish in the air.

Koda chases the fish in the air, "This is it. I got it. I got..." The crowd awes seeing Koda fall trying to jump for the fish but misses the catch. The fish lands right next to him but someone else picks it up.

"I guess it's our turn" a male caramel bear said with a smug smile next to him was a velvet female bear, the male spoke, "This is the year I met the most gorgeousโ€”"

"โ€”No, you're gorgeous" The velvet bear says as she rubs her head against his neck, she backs away with her eyes half-litted he does the same with a smile, "You're gorgeous-er" he says.

"Get a cave!" Tug shouts.

The purple-ish bear groans, speaking, "These two are going to make me sick."

"If only Edgar was alive..." the old female spoke holding her paws, her eyes opened hearing his voice, "I told you, woman, I'm right here!"

"I love you, buttercup" The caramel bear smiles going in for a hug but ends up taking them both onto the ground, throwing the fish away.

"This has got to be it!" Koda shouts jumping up for the fish but misses and instead Kenai ends up catching it sitting down. Kenai smiles, "Here you go, Koda."

Koda sighs crawling into (Y/n)'s lap, "You gotta tell it, Kenai"  he says. "What?" Kenai questions looking around.

"Yes. You caught it, you tell it" Tug confirms.

"Didn't you play this game when you were a cub?" Koda asks. Kenai freezes, "Um..." looking towards the group.

"Come on, Keno" the old lady bear spoke alongside the other bears smiling.

Kenai waves his paws, standing on his hind legs "Okay, all right already. All right. You want to know what I did this year?"

"Yes" The bears urged.

"I went on the longest, hardest, most exhausting journey I've ever been on with the biggest pain in the neck I've ever met" Kenai spoke and looks down to Koda who looks up to him sadly it stung him, (Y/n) was about to send a rock to him, but Kenai picked up Koda and rubbed his paw on Koda's head, ruffling his fur, "What do expecting from a little brother?" He smiles making Koda giggle as everyone awes.

"Okay, buddy, your turn" Kenai hands Koda the fish smiling down at him, Koda stood on his hind legs, while Kenai sits back down.

Tug chuckles, "Let's hear it, Koda."

"Okay, okay, here we go" Koda waves smiling as he looked down at the fish. He whipped his nose clearing his throat then raised his brow, "This year I watched my mom in a life-and-death struggle battling the most fiercest creature ever. Alright your turn (Y/n)" Koda tosses the fish over to her as everyone else gasped.

"What?" Kenai shouts confused, (Y/n) raised her brow with a curious smile. Everyone began to murmur, Tug smiles waving his paws, "Wait a minute. I think we all want to hear the rest of that one, Koda."

"I thought you might say that" Koda says smiling as (Y/n) passes back the fish to him. Grabbing it Koda taps the fish tail on his mouth, humming, "Let's see."

Koda sets down the fish and hugs himself recalling, "It was probably the fifth or sixth most coldest day in my entire life" Koda stands on all fours, "Me and Mom were eating fish, having a great time. When of a sudden she pushes me into the bushes and tells me to be real quiet. She says, "I smell something." So I started sniffing" He reenacts the scene, "There's something in the woods running towards us, getting closer and closer." Koda says causing a cub to hide behind its mother everyone laughs.

"And then, out of the tress, jumps a hunter!" Everyone gasps, Kenai looks at Koda his slightly widen eyes, he looks over to (Y/n) who stopped smiling her heart slowed down. All of the bears stop eating and stare at the cub as he continues. "And now there's nowhere for Mom to go. The monster had her backed up against this giant glacier!"

At that moment, Kenai's mouth hung, Koda's story, his mother, the separation, that monster was him.

"The monster attacks, but Mom's too quick for him. And before he can do it again, she stands up real big and yells, "Go away."

Kenai flashes back remembering himself yelling and falling over a ledge. "Kenai!" He remembers Sitka's call.

"Mom smells more of them. There's a whole pack coming right at us."

Kenai stood in shock completely frozen along with (Y/n), her eyes became glossy remembering his mother.

"Sitka, no. The bear. Behind you!" Behind a log Koda watches with his eyes widen and his mouth gaped open.

"She runs to stop them before they get to me. They're all around her, poking her with sticks."

Behind Sitka, Koda's mom stood on her hind legs ready to attack Sitka, (Y/n) came to his defense and used a tree branch to push Koda's mom away.

Over by the ice, Sitka and (Y/n) stand trying to keep Koda's mother at bay.

"Sitka!" Kenai shouts seeing him stab his spear into the ice.

"The whole thing broke and fell off. It fell to the water. There was ice everywhere! She couldn't hold her breath any longer, and pow!" Koda spoke.

Kenai and Denahi look over the ledge looking for any sign of Sitka or (Y/n) but nothing, all they saw was Koda's mom spring out from the ice cold water and heading to land.

"I've never been so scared in my life!" Koda adds.

"I'm going after the bear"

Kenai looked back up slightly and around not seeing anything, then on its hind legs the same bear from earlier arose, sniffing and roared out slightly.

(Y/n) spoke, "Probably just a squirrel, looking for its long lost nuts."

"Koda?" His mother calls out.

Kenai remembers yelling out and grabbing his spear. Jumping over, heading after the bear, ignoring (Y/n)'s plea, filled with blind fury.

"Sitka wouldn't want it. Nor would she..."

"They're not here" Kenai went against his own brother.

"...because of that monster."

Koda's mother charges towards Kenai with (Y/n) hanging onto her neck. Koda's mom roars out, (Y/n) shouts, and Kenai yellingโ€” it all ends with Koda's mom roaring out loud as ever, causing echos.

Before all goes quiet.

Kenai sat with his eyes wide and his mouth gaped he knows what happed to his mom and Koda doesn't. "Whoa. Fell off a glacier? I've never seen anything like that. Can you imagine?" Tug asks. Panic slowly rose up to Kenai's face as he heaves looking around, Kenai then looked down to Koda hearing him call, "Kenai. What's the matter, Kenai?"

Koda turns over, "(Y/n) do you know if?..." (Y/n) wasn't at her spot anymore instead she stood and slowly backs away, leaving Kenai to panic but he inches away from the crowd.

"Koda, what happened next?" A female asks.

"Was she okay?" Another asks. Koda's face lights up at their questions liking how they were intrigued. As Kenai and (Y/n) back away, Kenai bumps into Tug startling him and he backs away pushing (Y/n) back in the process.

Tug looks down to him,"Hey, Kenai, what's wrong? Where you going?" He asks, Kenai keeps backing away before running. (Y/n) laughs nervously, "He has to find a spot to doing his business, I gotta help him" she says before running after Kenai.

Koda continues on, "She got out of the water only. That's how we got separated. Right after that I met (Y/n), I only knew her as a hunter though, but that's besides the point and Kenai..." Koda says as bears surround him, Koda finally notices that Kenai wasn't there anymore along with (Y/n).

"Kenai?" He calls.

In the forest, Kenai sprints passing trees and bushes, panting as he runs in a direction, Kenai runs until he's at the edge of a cliff.

As stars start to appear, Kenai's ear perks up. "Kenai?" (Y/n) shouts in a distance. Kenai panics as he looks for a way down the ledge and across the valley he could see the mountains where the northern lights touch, it was his chance to get his life back.

Kenai looks back down to the salmon run and sees the bears he could hear them laughing and chattering. "Kenai?!" (Y/n) calls out, getting closer to him. Kenai paces at the edge trying to find a way down. He sighs unable to find a way down and lays himself onto the ground.

Behind a tree, (Y/n) finally found him. She carefully walks up to him and sat down beside him, (Y/n) sighs, "Come here" she says softly and tugs on his collar. Kenai lifts his head up to her confused, (Y/n) pats her lap gesturing it causing him to pause for a moment, Kenai scoots over to her and sets his head on her lap.

(Y/n) strokes his head softly leaning back and looks at the northern lights, as she stokes his head Kenai, sighs content but guilt washes over. "I'm a monster" he says.

(Y/n) looks down at him as she continues to stroke his fur, she closes her eyes, her mouth slowly gaped open, "I forgive you..."she whispers, she feels Kenai's eyebrows raise and tenses up, she hears him sniff, and let out a whimper. "Rest, Kenai, we have a long journey ahead" she adds still caressing his head.

Later on, the sun was very closes to setting. Kenai had moved off of (Y/n)'s lap and laid on the ground with her laying on his side asleep, Kenai was awake and laid upset, sadden, feeling guilty about his actions.

From an edge, Koda slowly creeped up to Kenai and (Y/n) with a mischievous smile. Koda roars and jumps onto Kenai's back, "Scared you again, huh?" Koda laughs as he lays on Kenai's back. Kenai lifts his head.

"Yeah..." Kenai says dully, "Care not to wake her up by the way."

Koda couldn't pick up on the tone, and asks with a bright smile, "Where have you two been? You look horrible" Koda a says hugging him.

"Koda..." Kenai spoke softly as he got up to sit down causing Koda to slip off, and making (Y/n) wake up rubbing her eyes.

Koda spoke over his sadden call, "My mom says when you eat too much fish, just lie down."

"What's going on?" (Y/n) yawns stretching.

Kenai looks over to the happy cubs seeing him take a seat right by him, Kenai turns over to (Y/n), in more regret than ever, she could tell what he was going to do and sits over by Koda pulling him onto her lap.

Kenai speaks,"There's something I, uh... You know that story you told me last night?"

Koda beams, looking back up from the ledge, "Yeah."

"Well, I have a story to tell you" Kenai says.

Koda smiles adjusting himself in (Y/n)'s lap and grabs a plant, "Really? What's it about?" Koda begins to eat some of the berries a he does it starts to snow, Kenai starts and rubs his paw.

"Well, it's kind of about a man, and kind of about a bear. But mostly it's about monster. A monster who did something so bad..."

Kenai begins to tell his side of the story looking up to the sky.

โ™ช Everywhere I turn to hurt someone โ™ช
โ™ช But there's nothing I can say to change the things I've done โ™ช

Koda looks up to the sky as well seeing Kenai point in a direction.

โ™ช I'd do anything within my power to โ™ช

โ™ช I'd give everything I've got โ™ช
โ™ช But the path I seek is hidden from me now โ™ช

"Koda, I did something very wrong" Kenai admits as his eyes become glossy.

โ™ช Brother bear, I let you down โ™ช

Koda stands up and backs away slowly, "I don't like this story" he says as Kenai looks down ashamed.

โ™ช You trusted me, believed in me and I let you down โ™ช

Kenai shook his head slightly, "Your mother's not coming." He says lowly.

โ™ช Of all the things I hid from you โ™ช
โ™ช I cannot hide the shame โ™ช

Koda looks at Kenai his mouth hung and his ears went down with his brows, tears forms at his eyes and he looks at Kenai absorbing and is hurt beyond repair. "No. No!" his voice breaks as he leaves (Y/n) lap and backs away more and more tears threatening to fall.

โ™ช And I pray someone โ™ช

โ™ช Something will come to take the pain awayโ™ช

Kenai and (Y/n) turn around to him, "Koda..." (Y/n) calls as tears fall from her face as well. Kenai tries to walk up to him but Koda runs away. All they could do was watch him leave.

โ™ช There's no way out โ™ช
โ™ช Of this dark place โ™ช

Koda sprints along the layer of snow. He runs throughout the forest crying.

โ™ช No, no future โ™ช
โ™ช I know I can't be free โ™ช

Kenai and (Y/n) then soon come along searching for Koda following his paw prints. (Y/n) shutters in the cold but look down seeing prints, she kneels down and touches the ground.

โ™ช But I can't see another way โ™ช
โ™ช And I can't face another day โ™ช

Koda runs up into a tree and hugs it at he stands on branch crying.

"Koda? Koda?" Kenai and (Y/n) call out. "Koda!" They call. Kenai and (Y/n) look around, with (Y/n) now on his back, there wasn't anymore tracks that they could follow so that left them off to wanted around searching.

Kenai's voice breaks, "Koda, I wish I could... If there was just some way... I'd give anything if... If I could just..."

Kenai sighs hanging his head. Kenai looks to the ground lifting up his paw and looks at his print, as he looks at it Kenai grazes his claws along his paw print making it look like a human handprint. As he looks down he feels (Y/n) shiver on his back, as she lays down on him.

Kenai looks up, whispering, "I'm sorry, Koda. I'm so sorry." He apologizes shaking his head, and starts walking towards the mountain.
