family reunion

DELILAH WALKED through the back door of the Man's Nest, music blasting in her ears through her airpods but she took them out and put them back in the case once she saw her father fighting with a pair of wired headphones while Schwoz stood to the side, while watching.

It's been 90 days since Danger Force was forced into retirement by their parents and Captain Man and Jinx were forced into fighting crime on their own leaving everyone in Swellview wondering one question and one question only.

What happened to the rest of Danger Force?

Some of the Danger Force members have slowly began to except the fact they aren't superhero's anymore but Ray refused to believe it, he kept calling the mom's wearing different disguises and coming up with different reasons to get Danger Force back together but so far it hasn't worked.

"Calm down, buddy!" Schwoz complained as he hugged a coconut that had a face drawn on it close to his chest.

"I don't want to clam down! I want to get Danger Force back!" Ray argued as he turned his attention to the scientist. "I'm worried about them, Schwoz. Who knows how they're gonna turn out without me?"

Delilah walked down the steps and over to the two men, holding onto the strap of her book bag tightly.

She was only allowed to see Mika, Miles, Chapa, and Bose during school. Angela Macklin was the one who came up with the idea and Celia and Alejandra was quick to agree since they didn't want their kids being connected to Danger Force, at all.

So that meant, not hanging out with best friends/ former coworkers, period.

Not at Hip Hop PurΓ©e.

Not at Duke. E. Dawg's.

Not at Swellview Park.

Not at the Man's Nest.

No where but the place that held children for eight hours, five times a week, to stick them with teachers who barely did their job, teach them things they will most likely never do again (unless you're Mika) after school like learning to solve for 'x' or 'y', with disgusting food and annoying people who smelt like they haven't showered in the 14-18 years they've been alive.

In other words, school.

Which sucked butt!

It hurt since Delilah and Chapa weren't allowed to go on dates for a while which left Chapa sneaking into Delilah's room every night and leaving early in the morning before school so her parents or Sage wouldn't figure out she was gone.

"They're doing fine. In fact Bose is a baby goat herder now." Delilah told her father, getting both of his and Schwoz's attention.

"Are you kidding me?" Ray asked, thinking Delilah was pulling his leg because how ridiculous it sounded.

"No, he speaks fluent goat," Delilah said, being completely honest.

"See, now that doesn't sound too okay to me." Ray grunted, as he tried to untangle the wires wrapped around his body. "Wait. Didn't you guys tell me that Miles started a cult?"

Schwoz shook his head as Delilah nodded making Ray look between them confused at the two different responses he was getting.

"Ah-ah-ah. Miles and his followers don't use the 'c' word. They prefer to think of themselves as a community of like-minded individuals." Schwoz corrected.

Delilah scoffed.

"In other words, a cult."

All day today Miles kept trying to get her to join his community while they were at school but she was already in one, she was gay.

Ray continued to grunt as he tried to cut the wires but he couldn't lift his arms since they were currently pinned.

Seeing him struggling, Schwoz stepped forward to help his boss.

"I don't need your help!" Ray wailed angrily.

"You got it, bro." Schwoz mumbled, holding up his hands in surrender and taking a step back.

"Mika's still fighting crime 'cause you know, she's Mika." Delilah told the two men after remembering what the ex-silver superhero has been up to.

Although, Mika never really got to fight crime because any time she tried her mother popped out no where and scared her.

"Yeah. That checks out." Ray mumbled as he continued struggling with the wires but while trying to get out of the wires he managed to get them tangled onto the ceiling where he was currently hanging upside down but Schwoz and Delilah made no move to help him.

"What about, Chapa? She doing anything cool?" Ray asked wondering what his daughter's girlfriend been up to.

Delilah looked up from her phone and chuckled at the sight of her dad hanging from the ceiling like a villain who got caught by Spider-Man, ignoring the little ache in her heart at the mention of Chapa.

"Chapa got arrested, like twenty times." Schwoz told Ray as he pulled out the remote from his back pocket, turning on the holographic screen to show Delilah and Ray all of Chapa's mugshots which were all silly.

"Wow, that is cool." Ray said impressed, looking at the screen.

"If no one's there to guide her to the good, she naturally goes to the bad." Schwoz said with a shake of his head making Ray sigh.

In Delilah's defense, she tried guiding Chapa to the good but Chapa was protesting. Until her mother let her see her girlfriend whenever she wanted, she was going to keep committing crimes.

"That's what I'm talking about. These kids are way better off together than they are apart."

Delilah couldn't help but agree with her father since he was right.

Danger Force was a team and have been for years, sure they may have gotten bruised and hurt but they always got back up and won in the end.

"Do you need us to get you apart from those cables." Delilah said with a smirk making Schwoz snicker.

Ray scowled at his daughter, he didn't have one daughter and adopt another for the two to constantly sass him all the time.

"Sick wordplay, but no."

Schwoz and Delilah shared looks and shrugged.

"Ok, bro. Namaste."

"See ya, dad."

The two happily pranced off leaving Ray hanging from the ceiling as he grunted and grumbled, trying to get himself down without any help.

β€”β€”

That night, Delilah was sitting at her desk in her pj's lost in thought. Her history teacher had given her and her classmates a project about their family history. Wanting them to get information from their parents and their grandparents to get an understanding of their upbringing.

The only problem was the fact Delilah was adopted.

Yes, Ray was her father but not by blood so they didn't have the same history and both of his parents passed away so speaking to her grandparents was also impossible unless she summoned the dead.

As much as she tried to deny it, it did hurt a little knowing Ray, Emilie, and Leah had a different history from her when they were supposed to be family.

It made her feel a little bit like an outsider.

The man who helped in the process of conceiving her, Drex.

He took off almost a year ago after Danger Force, Captain Man and Henry took down him and Rick Twitler but Delilah knew it was a matter of time before he came trying to get back into her life again, he would keep trying until he got his daughter back, but he helped abandoned Delilah along with her birth mother, whoever she was.

And for that.

She would never forgive him.

Either of them.

But that didn't stop her curiosity from growing.

Who was the mysterious woman that fell in love with Drex and abandoned her?

Did Delilah look like her? Well she must've because her and Drex shared no similarities whatsoever.

Or maybe she did look like him, or
maybe she looked just like both of them.

The poor young superhero was so lost in thought, she failed to notice her window opening and a figure slipping into her room with ease as if she's done it a million times before.

Probably because she has.

Chapa turned around and saw her girlfriend sitting at her desk with a dazed look in her eye and couldn't help but frown.

She could read Delilah like a book, she knew when she was happy, and she knew when she was sad and she was most definitely sad.

Not wanting whatever it was that was making her girlfriend so blue to take all of Delilah's attention away when she snuck out specifically for the girl, Chapa simply did the only thing she could think of.

Bullying her girlfriend.

"You're so gay." Chapa said causally as she flopped on Delilah's bed, announcing her presence, gesturing to Delilah's poster of Zendaya on the wall.

Delilah blinked in surprise by the sudden voice. She knew that voice anywhere and was certain it wasn't in her head. Chapa's comment was so random but also very much her.

She whipped her head to the side to see Chapa sitting there with a cocky smirk on her face.

"You're gayer."

"I'm as straight as they come."

"The delusion is crazy."

The couple broke out into a fit of laughter, both at ease in the other's presence. No matter how the other was feeling, being around the other instantly helped ease their mood.

"So what had you lost in thought to the point you looked like a kicked puppy? Spend 100 dollars in Sephora again?" Chapa teased making Delilah roll her eye fondly.

Leah came in town one day with Charlotte and the three girls went to the mall and somehow found their way into Sephora and spent one hundred bucks each when their limit was twenty dollars, thirty at most.

But could you blame them?

They were just girls.

"First of all, that happened once-"

"Still happened."

"As I was saying," Delilah jokingly narrowed her eyes at her, "Second, I was just thinking about school."

Liar.

"Liar." Chapa said the exact word she was thinking, "C'mon, tell me."

Delilah wasn't ready to tell Chapa about the face she was starting to wonder about her birth mother, not because she didn't trust Chapa but because she wouldn't understand.

Chapa grew up with two parents who adored her and Sage. Two parents who had their children as models as kids, two parents who were actually related to her by blood.

Chapa knew everything about her family and so did Delilah, but just not the family that she was biologically related too.

She just wanted to understand, who was she really? Did she belong in Swellview or somewhere else.

"I'm not lying, thinking about our history project."

Before Mika, Miles, Chapa and Bose had to quit Danger Force and when they were sent to public school, Schwoz hacked into the school system and got them all the same schedule so they had every class together and lunch which came in handy now that they were all only allowed to see one and other at school.

Was it illegal on Schwoz's part? Yes, but he didn't get caught so it's ok.

Chapa groaned loudly at her girlfriend's words, covering her face with Delilah's stuffed panda that she had won for the girl at an arcade on one of their dates.

She came to spend time with her girlfriend, not hear about school.

She was just stuck there for eight hours today.

"I'm sorry, am I annoying you?" Delilah asked sarcastically as she stood up and walked over to her bed, plopping beside the girl.

"You've turned into Mika!" Chapa cried out, removing the panda from her face to look at her girlfriend.

Delilah whacked her stomach in a silent way of scolding her, for talking about their friend that way.

"Hush, you."

Chapa sat up with a smile, her gaze locked on Delilah's face. She was so pretty, from her caramel skin, chocolate brown eyes, dark wavy hair, plump pinkish lips, down to the beauty mark above her nose and upper lip.

Delilah's cheeks flushed at the way Chapa was staring at her, adverting her eyes due to shyness.

"What are you looking at?" She asked making Chapa smile.

"My pretty girlfriend."

Delilah smiled at her words. She didn't need anyone else in the world when Chapa made her feel as loved as she did.

"Wait," She suddenly realized something and Chapa looked at her questionably, "How are our kids?"

Chapa hummed and pulled out her phone, showing Delilah a picture of Jovi. The husky's paw was in Chapa's hand in the phone.

She swiped her finger across the screen to see a picture of Poseidon, the black cat was glaring at the camera with her green eyes.

Wasn't a surprise, Poseidon was mean.

"Jovi is his usual happy self. Taught him how to shake and steal my mom's wallet," Chapa said as she remembered what her pets have been doing since the last time Delilah saw them.

"And Poseidon is still a demon, she bit me yesterday for moving her scratching post."

"That checks out." Delilah said as Chapa showed her the bite on her hand, "Ouch."

Poseidon got her good.

"She needs anger management." Chapa grumbled as she looked at the two idents on her hand from her bitch ass cat, her words not mine.

"Just like her mom, you two should go together."

That caused Chapa to shove her off the bed.

"Asshole!" Delilah cried from the floor, looking up at her ceiling.

"Yeah, I love you too." Chapa replied lazily as she laid back on the bed, staring at her phone.

The former red superhero couldn't help but smile at her wallpaper. It was a selfie of Delilah that she had taken of herself and Chapa went through Delilah's camera roll, found it, sent it to herself and made it her wallpaper.

"So, want to watch the Equalizer until we fall asleep?" Delilah asked as she got back on her bed with her ipad.

"Now that seems enjoyable." Chapa replied, kissing Delilah's cheek making the girl smile as the show started.

β€”β€”

A few days passed since then and Swellview's very own Celia O'Brian-Willard was missing. Angela and Alejandra hadn't heard from her at all which was weird since the three mother's had a tight bond and a great friendship and even her own son, Bose hadn't heard or seen his mother in a few days.

She hasn't sent him an inappropriate gif in days which was weird, he normally got at least twenty in the span of one hour.

But Celia wasn't the only mom that went missing.

"What else are we going to do?"

"I don't know, but-"

The sound of Mika and Miles arguing filled the air as Chapa climbed up the tree that lead to Mika's bedroom, climbing inside to see Mika, Miles and Bose.

"You're late." Mika scolded the short haired girl, since Chapa was supposed to be there twenty minutes ago.

"I had to pick up a friend." Chapa said with an eye roll.

Mika, Miles and Bose shared confused looks.

A friend?

Suddenly, the three jumped in shock when a familiar petite figure climbed through the window just like her girlfriend had did just seconds before and smiled at them.

"Hey, I'm the friend." Delilah said cheekily with a wave and the others breathed a sigh of relief.

The five friends all smiled, walking into a group hug.

It was hard to adjust from seeing each other all the time to only being confided to seeing each other at school.

"I know we're not supped to hang out outside of school anymore, but I haven't seen my mom in days." Chapa said to the group as they separated from the hug, "Also I missed you guys."

"Something going on," Miles said in a firm voice since Bose's mom was now missing along with Chapa's before he turned to her, "And we missed you too."

"Bose's mom is also missing!" Mika informed the couple in a hushed tone just as the door opened to reveal the twin's father.

"Hey, kids," Herm said before realizing Chapa, Delilah and Bose were also in the room, "Hey, not my kids."

"Hey, Daddy!"

"Hey, Big Herm." Chapa beamed as she approached her father's best friend, fist bumping him.

"Chapa-loppa!" Herm chucked as he addressed all the teenagers, "I just woke up from a nap, and I cannot find my wife anywhere.
Have you seen your mom?"

"No." Mika frowned.

"Mommy?" Miles said in a whisper.

"Ah, she'll turn up." Herm waved it off, "I mean, it's not like she's been kidnapped or something."

All of the kids awkwardly laughed along with the man.

"That's a good one!"

"Why would you say that?"

"As if that would ever happen!"

"And even if she was kidnapped, it's not like you kids could do anything about it!" Herm continued to laugh and so did the kids.

"'Cause we're kids!"

"Not in Danger Force anymore."

Due to all the kids talking over one and other, Herm didn't hear his son's comment about no longer being in Danger Force.

"All right. I'm going to take another nap." Herm said with a chuckle, taking something off of Mika's bed with a smile and walking out the room.

Chapa quickly closed the door behind him and turned to her friends and girlfriend wide eyed.

"Someone kidnapped our moms!"

"My mom is dead."

Everyone paused and turned to the girl who didn't seem phased by her own dark comment.

"What? It's true." Delilah said once she saw the looks on their faces, shrugging her shoulders.

...

"What kind of sick, twisted, lowlife piece of trash would kidnap all of our moms?" Chapa asked after a moment of silent due to her girlfriend's comment.

And suddenly, it clicked.

"Oh, my god!"

β€”β€”

The five teenagers stood in the Man's Nest staring at Ray who was still hanging from the ceiling.

"It wasn't me!" Ray said in disbelief, baffled by the accusations thrown his way.

"Oh, really?" Chapa said doubtfully, her arms wrapped around Delilah's waist and her chin resting on the shorter girl's shoulder.

"The guy who's mad at our moms for pulling us out of Danger Force." Bose pointed out.

"The guy who would go to ridiculous lengths to get what he wants?" Mika added.

"The guy who wrote 'kidnap their moms until they change their minds' on his white board that says 'Sick Plans for Getting D-Force Back?'." Miles questions further, slamming a pointer stick on the white board that had all of Ray's ridiculous plans on it.

"Yeah, I she not crossed that one out. I haven't got around to it yet." Ray hummed in thought, "And no, I don't need your help getting out of here."

"You sure? You've been up there a few days." Delilah told her father, since it's been at least a day or two that he's been up there.

She's been offering to get him down for the past few days but he kept telling her no.

"Yes, I'm sure!"

β€”β€”

Chapa, Delilah, Mika, Miles and Bose watched in disgust as Ray sat on the couch, scarfing down the wires that once had his body tied to the ceiling.

"...He ate the whole cord..." Miles said in disbelief.

"...And the headset..." His twin added in.

"Told you, I didn't need any help." Ray said cockily, in the middle of his chewing.

"You're going to need to see a doctor." Bose slowly told his former boss.

"Why, so he can high-five me?"

Chapa couldn't help but smile. She hated to admit it but she missed her girlfriend's dad more than anything, his craziness and weirdness was nice after their solitude.

"I've missed you buddy." She chuckled, as she hugged Ray.

"Same."

"Let's bring it in!" Bose cheered he joined the hug
