Bose, Chapa, Miles and I walked into the Man's Nest arguing with Mika walking slowly behind us.
The four of us continued arguing as we walked over to our lockers.
The five of us managed to crash my dad's man-truck into the river, how did we do that? We aren't even sure how since it all happened so fast but now we're all freaking out because he's going to be really upset.
The tube buzzed and My dad and Schwoz came up the tube arguing as well.
Schwoz was trying to calm My dad down but it wasn't working.
"Danger Force assemble!" My dad shouted not noticing us by.
"Hi." Chapa said making him jump and turn to us.
My dad pointed at us and shook his head.
"I don't suppose, any of you, know how my Man-Truck ended up at the bottom of Jandy River!" My dad yelled holding up his phone to show us a picture of his truck in the river.
We looked at the photo, then at him, back at the photo and shook our heads.
"No." Miles lied smoothly.
"Mind your business." Chapa glared at him.
"I have no idea." Bose shrugged and his lie made a lot of sense.
He didn't know a lot of things.
"What Man-Truck?" I asked pretending to be clueless.
My dad looked at all of us for a moment.
"Ok." He placed his hands on his hips. "Where you guys been all day?"
"Church." Miles shrugged.
"Mind your business." Chapa repeated what she said a few minutes ago.
"In my room." I crossed my arms.
"I honestly don't know." Bose said honestly.
"Alright, I'll start with you." My dad pointed to Miles. "You were at Church, huh?"
"Yep."
"Which one?"
"Went to three."
"Mmm, little church hoppin."
"Lotta church hoppin."
"You sing?"
"Couple of times."
"Which tunes?"
"Amazing Grace, How great thou art, couple Kanye songs." Miles listed and My dad nodded his head.
"Okay." My dad said letting him pass, before turning to Chapa.
"How bout you?"
"Mind your business." Chapa answered threateningly.
"Okay." My dad said letting her pass and stepping towards me.
My dad stared at me for a few seconds and I stared back.
He slowly narrowed his eyes at me and I copied him.
"Ok." My dad finally said after a moment of silence letting me pass and I skipped over to Chapa and stood beside her.
"How bout you dimples, you know anything about my truck being in the bottom of the river?" My dad questioned Bose.
"I don't know anything about anything." Bose said honestly and My dad nodded.
"That checks out." He mumbled as Bose ran over to the rest of us.
"Well, I believe you all. Now time to leave the room." My dad said and we silently cheered.
Everyone turned and started to leave when My dad started to speak again.
"One thing though, uh Mika!"
We turned back around as My dad walked over to Mika who stood at the top of the stairs by the back doors to interrogate her about his truck and I internally groaned.
Not because I didn't love Mika, of course I did and she was one of kg best friends but the girl could not lie to save her life.
"Mika." My dad said jogging up the stairs next to her. "I don't suppose you know, how my truck ended up at the bottom of the river, do ya? Mika, I love that truck more than I love Schwoz, Delilah and Leah."
"Ouch." Schwoz and I frowned.
"Now it's all wet." My dad whispered ignoring us, holding up his phone.
Miles shook his head at Mika while Chapa and I mouthed 'Don't do it'.
Mika bit her lip trying to hold herself together.
"It was us!" She caved and the rest of us groaned.
I huffed and crossed my arms.
"I knew it!" My dad yelled waving a finger around in the air.
"Okay, so you know how fast food always taste better in a car?" Mika quickly asked.
"Course." My dad answered walking down the steps.
"So we ordered some 'Nacho Ball' the close one not the nice one and we brought it back but it didn't taste right, so we decided to teleport inside the Man-Truck and it still didn't taste right, and we blasted some music and that seemed to do it, and the food was so good, the song 'Proud Mary' came on and the songs talks about rolling down the river and we looked up who Tina Turner is and we found out she's still alive and living in France and then Miles went 'Yes' and then we all teleported into the river!" Mika quickly explained.
"Well." My dad said walking towards the others. "I am very disappointed...in Mika." He finished pointing to the girl.
"What?!" Mika yelled shocked and angrily.
"Yes!" Chapa yelled and I laughed.
"I told you the truth." Mika argued.
"You did and that's good but you also snitched that's bad." My dad replied.
"That makes no sense!" Mika huffed.
"Lying is a very important part of being a superhero." My dad pointed at each of us with every word, "And that's why every mom in this town thinks Ray Manchester is a fighter pilot."
"That just sounds like lying to impress woman." Miles said and we agreed with him.
My dad clicked his tongue at him twice.
"Exactly. I need to be able to trust," He pointed at Mika. "That you can lie."
Mika groaned and looked down when I got a brilliant idea.
"Give her a letter!" I yelled.
"No!" Mika argued.
"Yeah." Miles laughed.
"To the snitch board." My dad declared and everybody walked over and sat on the couch.
"Way ahead of you." Schwoz said pulling up the board on the screen.
Our faces were on the side of the screen with our names below it.
Everyone minus Bose and Mika had no letters in their boxes.
"Come on." Mika groaned not wanting another letter.
"Oh, according to this, you snitched one, two, three, four times! Already." My dad smiled with every word.
"The ketchup stain I made on the couch." Miles glared at his twin.
"The raccoon fight club, I was running in the basement." Chapa flatly added.
"That was horrible!" Mika pointed at her.
"How I snuck out to go roller blading in the middle of the highway." I said throwing my arms up.
"You could've gotten yourself and others hurt!"
"That I import illegal hair products from China." Bose built onto the conversation. "Trying to obtain my luscious locks."
"And that I do the same thing." My dad gestured to his hair.
"Those are literal crimes-" Mika began but was cut off.
"Mika, last name." My dad pointed to Schwoz.
"Macklin."
"Mika Macklin!" My dad yelled. "For snitching a fifth time, you receive another letter! Oh, one more snitch and you get an 'e'."
"H." Schwoz corrected him.
"H." My dad changed his answer waving him off. "Then-"
"The shoes of shame!" Chapa excitedly yelled and everyone cheered.
The shoes of shame was a pair of air forces that were plain white and kinda bright when you wore them and because we all hated the plain shoes my dad used them as a punishment.
"You have to wear the ugliest shoes known to men for an entire week." Schwoz laughed and Miles opened the box that contained the shoes to show his twin.
"No!" Mika screamed. "Those are hideous, there so plain and white."
Miles tossed the shoes to Bose, who passed them to Schwoz, who passed them to My dad.
"Then don't snitch." My dad held out the shoes to her.
"Okay!" Mika yelled before turning her head. "Well, I don't want to be a snitch or anything but there's a kid looking at us through the glass door."
"Ahh!" Everyone shouted turning around looking at the door noticing the kid.
"Where did he come from?" Miles questioned pointing at the kid.
"Don't know, let's punch first and ask questions later." My dad said running over to the door with us following.
"Exactly!" Chapa agreed.
"No, no, no." Schwoz denied opening the door. "It's my nephew Zed. What are you doing out there? You could catch a cold, you don't have a baby beard anymore." Schwoz says placing a hand on his nephew.
"Baby beard?" Chapa asked turning to My dad and I.
"Schwoz's family, total freaks." My dad grumbled and I nodded in agreement.
"He brought me a message can from mama." Schwoz says walking away with us behind him, "This is either really good news or really bad."
"It's really bad!" The voice of a woman said through the can after Schwoz opened it. "Schwoz, it's mama, I don't want you to worry for me."
"Sick turn coming." My dad mumbled to Chapa and I.
Mama Schwoz was nice and all but she was really clingy when it came to Schwoz.
"But I'm sick."
"Told ya." My dad smirked.
"My doctor says I have melty bones!"
Schowz gasped and covered his mouth. "Melty bones runs in my family."
"Yes, you should get checked."
Each of us froze and looked around wondering how she knew he was going to say that.
"Please come home to mama, I need you! Okay, how do I hang this thing up? It's probably this button that says hang up-"
My dad smacked the can out of Schwoz's hand and stomped on it.
"Schwoz, I'm so sorry." Mika said her voice cracking.
"Yeah, I'm sorry to pal." My dad said patting Schwoz's shoulder.
"But you can't go visit her."
"What?" Mika and Miles questioned.
"He can't go?" Chapa adds and I stared at My dad in disbelief.
"You monster!" Miles shouted when My dad bent down and picked up the can.
"He already used up all his vacation days." My dad explained as he walked to the metal door.
"You barely give him vacation days." I mumbled and the team agreed with what I said.
"But he just had to get his appendix out! Couldn't wait until Thanksgiving." My dad finished, throwing away the can.
"But it's his mom and she's got melty bones." Mika protested.
"Oh, she always does this." My dad denied. "She always calls him home cause she's 'sick' but when he gets there she comes up with fifty reasons why he can't leave, and then I got no Schwoz for like two maybe one whole day!"
"You still have me." I piped up with a smile and My dad scoffed.
"You can't build robots." He sighed and I sent him a offended look and crossed my arms.
Chapa raised her hand. "I'm the most heartless one here, but that's pretty cold my dude."
Everybody nodded and pointed at her in agreement trying to get My dad to see that this isn't cool.
"Okay, you can either go home now." My dad began. "Or for her tasteful memorial service, your choice."
"Dad!" I scolded. "You can't say things like that. If my boss you said that to me I would've given him a piece of my mind."
"Ehh...true but it's Mama Schwoz! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go dry my truck out!" My dad shouted storming off.
We stared after him and scoffed.
"That dude really gives no hecks." Bose said and Chapa and I nodded.
Schwoz fell onto his knees and started to cry.
"Schwoz." Mika softly said placing a hand on his shoulder.
Schwoz looked up at her, immediately no longer crying.
"Yeah snitch?"
"I'm just going to say, we will do anything to help you see your mom again." Mika whispered bending down to his height for a hug, she turned and gestured for us to join in.
"Yeah!" We all agreed, walking over to them and joining the hug.
"Schwoz!"
Everybody looked up and saw My dad peaking his head in the room.
"Stop hugging the snitch and come help me dry my truck!"
Schwoz got up and ran after My dad leaving all of us staring after him sadly.
"Poor little Schwoz." I said sadly, feeling bad for the scientist.
"We gotta do something." Chapa said as we walked around the room.
"Yeah, but how?" Miles asked crossing his arms. "She's so far away."
"I'm sure if we put our heads together we can think of something." Mika suggested.
"Good idea!" Bose cheered grabbing Chapa's and I's head and banging them with his, Mika's and Miles.
"Ow!" Everyone cried out.
"To literal." I groaned, grabbing my head and rubbing it.
"I think it's working!" Bose yelled.
"No it's not." Chapa denied.
"This can will self distruck in two seconds."
Everyone turned around and looked at the trash can.
"Wow, that can really doesn't give-" Miles started but the can exploded cutting him off, everyone fell to the ground other then Chapa and I.
I wobbled slightly but Chapa helped hold me steady.
"You guys are weak." Chapa scoffed and I laughed shaking my head.
——
The team and I ended up bringing Mama Schwoz to the Man's Nest so she can surprise Schwoz. I was fixing Mama's Schwoz blanket so she was comfortable.
My dad and Schwoz came up the tube talking about how My dad's enemies won't find him and cure him.
"Mama!" Schwoz cheered once he spotted his mom.
"Schwozie!" Mama Schwoz cheered as Schwoz jumped into her arms causing the team to quickly move out of his way.
My dad started snapping his fingers signaling them to come over to him.
All of us shared looks before walking over to him.
"Who's responsible for this! Hmm." My dad quietly yelled, looking at Mika. "Mika, you feeling a little snitchy."
"Oh, I think you know that I am." Mika sassily replied.
"I'll tell you who brought her here." Miles said earning My dad's attention. "Me, Miles Macklin."
"Oh! Oh! He snitched on himself give him an 's'!" Mika cheered excitedly.
" 'S'!" Bose yelled kicking his leg and arms in the air and Chapa gave him a look.
"It doesn't count if you snitch on yourself." My dad waved off Miles's snitch.
"Who makes up these rules?" Mika angrily asked.
"Look after a number of unsuccessful attempts of trying to teleport to Schwoz's home country-" Miles began.
"83." Chapa flatly said.
"Not important." Miles pointed at Chapa. "I made it there and I brought her and her melty bones back here so she can see her son, Because we love Schwoz." The team nodded in agreement. "And yeah, she screamed a lot when I grabbed her, and yeah, she tried to scratch me with one of her little melty arms...and where was I going with this?"
"She's a normal sweet mom, who just wants to see her son." Chapa explained to My dad.
"Exactly." Miles whispered.
"She is rubbing his belly like a dog." My dad pointed behind him.
I looked and saw Schwoz sitting on his mom's lap while she rubbed his belly.
Schwoz's tongue was sticking out of his mouth like a dog.
"That's a little weird." I said adverting my eyes from the sight.
"It's a lotta weird." My dad spread his arms. "I can't stand that lady and you know it, Delilah, she's always trying to find ways to body shame me or throw food at me."
"Ray!" Mama Schwoz called out and My dad rolled his eyes.
"Mama Schwoz!" My dad forced a smile on his face as he turned around to face her.
"Oh have you gained weight?" Mama Schwoz asked causing me to laugh loudly but My dad sent me a look causing me to quickly shut my mouth.
"I've gained muscle actually, and that weighs more that fat so..."
"Maybe." Mama Schwoz shrugged smirking.
"Well this has all been terribly fun, but uh I'm having a bad time, and these kids have a lot of work to do down at superhero school, so Mama Schwoz, you mind?" My dad raised an eyebrow.
"I don't mind." Mama Schwoz retorted rubbing Schwoz's stomach again.
We stared at them for a minute before heading to our lockers to go downstairs.
——
Everyone was now downstairs and somehow Mama Schwoz convinced Schwoz to bring her bed down so she can watch our training and Schwoz made Bose and I use our powers to carry her bed downstairs and now my back was killing me.
My dad and Chapa were at the front and Chapa held a blaster to My dad's face.
"And when the villains says 'Which arm'?" My dad yelled. "You say this arm!"
He grabbed Chapa's arm that was holding the weapon and flipped her over onto the mat.
"Woah!" Chapa gasped as she hit the mat.
"Ehh...." Mama Schwoz disagreed while Schwoz gave her medicine and My dad turned to her annoyed.
"What's with the 'Ehh'?" My dad questioned.
"Well, that's not how I would disarm someone, but..." Mama Schwoz trailed off.
"Okay, why don't you come up here and show us how it's done?"
"Can't bones are melted." Mama Schwoz sadly cried out.
"Pretty well established at this point sir." Bose said to My dad from his seat.
"But if they weren't, I'd just kick you in the zipper." Mama Schwoz sweetly smiled.
"Pfft, that's never gonna work-"
"Zipper kick!" Chapa yelled kicking him in the zipper and My dad gasped, falling onto his knees.
"Ooohhh!" The team yelled when My dad kneeled over in pain.
"I wanna go!" I yelled running up next to Chapa in excitement.
"No way, you'd enjoy it too much!" My dad snapped causing me to pout.
The other three ran up excitedly asking to go next.
"Everybody back up!" My dad yelled pointing the blaster at the kids, making all of us take a step back.
"And I'll appreciate it, if you stayed out of my business!" My dad grunted but I shook my head.
"No, let her teach us more stuff." My dad smirked and the others happily agreed.
The emergency alarm went off making us groan and walk to our chairs.
"Thank god there's a crime." My dad mumbled. "Alright I'll see everybody upstairs, mostly everybody, mostly!"
Everyone ignored him and went upstairs to get ready for the mission.
——
The next day Chapa and I were talking while on the way to Hip Hop Purée, there was a small cup of mini pretzel bites in my hand that I begged Chapa for but we ended up sharing them.
"I can't believe you never had pretzel bites before!" I shook my head looking up at the taller girl.
"I never took an interest in them, but they are good." Chapa said as she ate another one.
"These things are the king's and queen's of my childhood." I told her with a smile, "Leah and I would beg my dad to bring us some back after his missions with Kid Danger."
"Ok, now they aren't that good." Chapa laughed and I joined in.
On the way to the restaurant we met up with Bose who had golf clubs on his back to give to Mama Schwoz.
We headed inside and saw the twins at the counter.
"Hey, you ready to head back?" I asked the twins.
"Yep." Miles nodded taking the big bag of food off the counter.
"Delilah and I just bet our entire piggy bank for a horse race for Mama Schwoz." Chapa smiled at me.
"She made you bet with your own money?" Mika asked in disbelief.
"She actually made Delilah, borrow some to bet more." Chapa explained and I nodded proudly.
"I hustled the man out of two hundred extra dollars so me and Chapa get $100 each." I grinned before frowning. "If three-legged-dreamer doesn't win the race, I'm in real trouble."
"Oh god." Mika mumbled placing her hands on her temples. "Wait-borrow from who?"
Everyone turned to me for a answer but I narrowed my eyes at all four of them.
"Some things you just don't gotta know." I replied darkly and the others stared at me wide eyed.
Chapa even took a small step away from me.
"Ok, can we roll? Mama Schwoz wanted these golf clubs like yesterday and it's today, so I'm late." Bose groaned.
"Don't worry dude." Chapa patted his shoulder and Bose smiled sadly.
"How will she play golf if she has melty bones?!" Mika asked angrily and we shrugged.
"She said she wanted to feel the weight of the
