Armani sighed as she sat up in bed, she had slept for the majority of the day seeing that she didn't have much left to doβ she hadn't worked much the last couple months since she couldn't handle her normal 12 hour shifts so she was either always at home painting or hanging out with the gang. She let out a yawn and stared at the wall blankly before she found the courage to finally get up. She rubbed her belly and opened the curtains letting the sun flow into the room. Nasir had picked up more hours to support the baby and the two had already decorated the baby's room days before.
Armani rubbed the crust out of her eyes and grabbed her phone off the nightstand which laid still plugged up onto the charger. She had noticed that Azariah had texted her and made a mental note to respond later. She scrolled on Instagram for a minute or two before she walked to the bathroom and brushed her teethβ her goal was to have a somewhat productive day which meant walking and getting fresh air.
After she brushed her teeth and finished doing her hygiene, she made her way to her and Nasir's shared walk-in closet and got dressed in a black tube midi dress with a red coach bag and some matching fur red slides. She grabbed her keys, her gun, and taser and put them all in her bag and finally left. She pulled up to Brooklyn Bridge Park and parked somewhere nearby, she crossed the street to the park and plopped down on an empty bench taking in the fresh air. She kept her purse on her lap considering that thieves were always lurking, and pulled out one of her favorite books which happened to be The Giverβ she had lost counts of how many times she read the book but she didn't like the movie considering the ending did still confuse her.
He walks up to a house and that's it? The End? What? She thought each and every time she reached the ending of the book.
Her phone rang about 35 to 40 minutes into her reading so she picked it up and looked at the caller I.Dβ it was Azariah so she pressed answer and told Azari to hold on as she pulled out her Airpod case. She slipped the airpod into her ear and adjusted the volume as she took in her surroundings for the third time.
"Okay I can hear you now." Armani said as she turned the page in her book.
"I said I know you saw my text girl." Azari said.
"Girl I honestly forgot to respond, wassup?"
"So Akeem's cousin Teniece is havin a lul kickback or whateva whateva and she said we was invited so you tryna go?" Azari said sounding hopeful.
"Girllll." Armani dragged. "Do you not see my stomach, my feet already hurt and I don't even know shordy."
"We can just pop in for some food and just chill, it'd be fun." She said.
"Girl...fine, Nasir not gon like that though, you know he's been real protective lately." Armani said as she tucked her book back into her bag and got up.
"Girl he'll be fine." Azari reassured
"I guess." She responded as she began to walk back to her car.
"I'll be on my way to pick you up in 40." She said.
"Okay." Armani said bye, hung up, and got in the car heading home.
Nasir had just gotten out of the shower wearing a towel around his waist as water dripped down from his pecs and down his abs to his V-Line when Armani walked in with her bare face and almost 9 month old belly looking somewhat exhausted.
"Hey baby." Nasir kissed her lips. "Where you was at?"
"At the park, my feet hurt but Azari convinced me to come w her to Akeem's cousin Teniece lil kickback" said Armani.
"And your sure you wanna go ma?"he asked looking over at her.
"Yeah baby, if she don't want to leave then I'll call to you come pick me up." Armani reassured as her phone went off.
She glanced down at her phone and saw that it was Azari telling her she was outside. "She here."
He nodded his head. "Aight ma, I'm boutta go uptown with Monty and them."
"Okay baby, see you later." She kissed his lips and walked, more so waddled, out the door.
"Hey girl." Said Azari. "How's nephew?"
"He need to get the hell out." She complained as she rubbed her belly.
"Nephew said he gon come when he wanna come so don't be tryna rush him." She said as she leaned over to rest her head on Armani's stomach.
"Uhn uhn he done kicked me in my head." Said Azari as she leaned back up and started the car.
"That's whatcho ass get." Armani said putting on her seatbelt as the two began to drive off.
"And we outta here." Azari said as she pressed down on the gas. "Yuhhh get into itttt!"
"Yuhhh get the hell out of it before you get a ticket." Armani scolded.
"Okay mom." Azari responded sarcastically as she slowly lifted her foot and the speed began to decrease.
"Guess I am ya momma cause you sho as hell listened."
"And did because don't nobody wanna hear Akeem mouth, so what I got 3 speeding tickets in two weeks which reminds me I need to pay them hoes before they take my car." Azari said.
"Bitch you still ain't pay em? Oh yeah they comin fa ya ass, bye bye mercedes." Armani waved to her dashboard.
"Don't do that, they aint talking a god damn thang but my money." She frowned.
"And you got nobody but ya damn self to blame," Armani shook her head as she looked out the window. "You turning into Monty."
"Girl hell nawl, but tomorrow Monty said we gon meet his lil fling."
"Awl shìt, now THAT is something I can get into." Armani said.
The drive wasn't particularly long but it wasn't short neither but when they arrived, the block was full.
"I thought a kickback was supposed to be a couple people, not half the city in one neighborhood, and I bet you she one of them leave the drama at home bitches." Armani said as she walked beside her best friend. "And try to be dumb and act surprised when they start fighting or shooting like nawl bitch you is the problem."
Azari laughed. "On my momma she gotta be one of them bitches."
"I said wowww!" Armani said as they walked up to the house. "How the hell she fit all them people in this tiny ass house."
"Uhn uhn Armani be nice." Azari looked at her.
Armani sighed dramatically. "Yes ma'am but if somebody try me can I set if off innis muhfucka?" Armani looked at her hopeful.
"Okay Cleo." Azari said as they approached the porch.
"Hey bitchh!" Teniece said as she walked over with a bottle of beer which her breath reeked of .
Is this bitch named tennis? Armani thought as she stood and looked around.
"This is my best bitch Armani." Azari said.
"Hey girl." Teniece greeted.
Hey tennis, lemme stop bein mean, big speak. Armani thought.
"Hey." Armani said.
"Awn you havin a baby?" Teniece asked.
"Yes."
"Boy or girl?"
"Boy." Armani answered again as she took in her surroundings.
"Awwn how far are you?"
Armani and Azari looked at eachother thinking the same thing.
"Okay feds, mind ya business." Said Azari.
"Well damn, okay, everybody is out in the backyard so y'all can go back there and chill." Teniece said with a slight frown on her face.
"Okay." Azari said and the two walked back there.
"Hey momma." Azari greeted Akeem mom.
"Hey momma." Said Armani as she hugged her.
"Awwn hows grand nephew?" Asked Akeems mom.
"He's good." Armani grinned.
"Teniece was over there tryna be fed and shìt asking all them questions." Azari said.
"Nosey ass lil girl." Akeems mom shook her head.
"Azariah!" Somebody yelled making the two turn around.
"Come on." Azari said as Armani sighed dramatically and waddled behind her friend.
"Hey y'all." Azari greeted.
"Whos your friend? She finer than a muhfucka." Said one of the guys who was reclined in the slightly faded white plastic chair wearing a wife beater and smoking a cigarette.
"None of ya damn business Rasamuel." Azari said.
"Aye ma you pregnant?" He asked making Armani look at him with a duh face.
"Do the baby gotta daddy?" He asked.
"Yes nigga." Armani said.
"I think he needa step daddy." He said.
"Niggas just want to die huh?" Armani looked at her friend.
"Her husband isn't fucking with that weird shìt and Armani isn't fucking with yo broke ass so go find somebody with no morals." Azari defended her friend.
"Damn cuz, she on yo ass." Laughed one of the dudes. "You is fine though."
"Excuse me Marcus?" Said some girl walking over with a cup full of something.
"What? Ian gon lie and call ha ugly, that's what cho hating ass be doin." He shrugged.
"So you gon flirt with my nigga?" She looked directly as Armani.
Armani looked bored as she let out a yawn.
Azari looked at her ready but waited for Armani signal.
"Ms girl, I am married, get you some confidence." Armani said.
"Nawl cause I wanna fight." She said.
"Mane you always wanna fight somebody bro, sit cho shish kebab looking ass down some whea, can't Neva take yo stupid ass no where." Said the dude that complimented Armani.
"But baβ
"Sit the fuck down and cool out son." He said.
She scoffed and sat down with her arms crossed making Armani cough to mask her laugh.
"Think some funny?" She asked standing up.
Azari got in front of her. "Home girl DONT even play on my bestie top cause I put people on life support so If you wan go I dare you to try me."
The girl sized Azari up before she sat down quiet but looking mad.
"It be them short bitches that's mad at the world and shìt." Azari said. "Imma fuck with y'all later, come on mani."
"Aight ma." They nodded their head.
"Why these bitches so weird?" Armani said as they sat down beside Akeem's mom.
"Cause these ugly ass kids don't got no morals or home training." Akeem's mom answered.
"Momma!" Azari said.
"What?" Akeem's mom looked confused.
"You being mean now." Armani laughed.
"What? They don't, and theyon got morals cause they wanna fit in so damn bad. See you see me, I don't give a damn bout nobody, I do what I want to do not cause somebody influenced me. That's that kid shit and this new generation needs to learn that and what morals are along with self respect."
