Victoria lay sprawled on her bed, her textbooks and notes scattered around her like a protective barrier against the looming stress of finals. The room was quiet, save for the soft hum of their shared music playlist playing in the background. Caitlin sat cross-legged at the foot of the bed, diligently typing away on her laptop, her own notes meticulously organized beside her.

Victoria glanced up from her notebook, her eyes catching a fleeting glimpse of Caitlin, who was stealing a glance at her. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "Caught you," she teased, her voice light and playful.

Caitlin blushed, quickly turning her attention back to her screen. "I was just...making sure you weren't slacking off," she retorted, a shy smile breaking through her facade.

"Right," Victoria drawled, closing her textbook and shifting to sit up. "Because you're so focused on your homework, you didn't even notice me looking back at you."

Caitlin's blush deepened, and she finally lifted her gaze to meet Victoria's. "Okay, fine. Maybe I got a little distracted."

Victoria leaned forward"A little?"

"Alright, a lot," Caitlin admitted, her cheeks still tinged with pink. "But can you blame me? You're kind of hard to ignore."

Victoria's heart skipped a beat at Caitlin's words. She moved closer, her hand reaching out to brush a stray strand of hair behind Caitlin's ear. "You know," she said softly, "you're not so easy to ignore yourself."

A comfortable silence enveloping them as they gazed at each other. Victoria broke the moment by grabbing a blanket from the bed and standing up. "Come on," she said, tugging Caitlin's hand. "Let's take a break and watch something"

Caitlin let herself be pulled up, and they made their way to the living room. They settled down on the couch, Victoria wrapping the blanket around them as they snuggled close. Caitlin nestled against Victoria, her head resting on her shoulder.

"Feeling nervous about the game tonight?" Victoria asked, her voice gentle as she traced soothing circles on Caitlin's arm.

Caitlin shook her head slightly, a smile spreading across her face. "Not really," she murmured. "Plus I have a pretty girl cheering for me"

Victoria's heart swelled, and she pressed a soft kiss to the top of Caitlin's head. "shut up" she laughed slightly.

Caitlin looked up, her eyes meeting Victoria's once more. "you're pretty"

Victoria smiled, pulling Caitlin even closer. In that moment, surrounded by the comfort of each other and the anticipation of the game ahead, everything felt just right.

The sun had begun its descent, casting a golden hue over the campus as the excitement for the evening's game buzzed in the air. Back in Victoria's dorm, the atmosphere was a mix of nervous anticipation and electric energy. Caitlin was lacing up her sneakers while Victoria rummaged through her closet.

"Fuck," Victoria groaned, stepping back and running a hand through her hair. "I forgot my Hawkeyes hoodie at home. I can't believe It"

Caitlin looked up, her expression softening. "Hey, it's no big deal. I've got an extra jersey in my bag. You can wear that."

Victoria turned to Caitlin, eyes wide with surprise. "You sure? I don't want to take your spare."

Caitlin stood up, walking over to her bag and pulling out the black and gold jersey. She tossed it to Victoria with a grin. "Positive. Besides, it'll look way better on you."

Victoria caught the jersey, feeling the smooth fabric between her fingers. She pulled it over her head, it was a bit loose but felt like a warm embrace.

Caitlin smiled as she took in the sight of Victoria wearing her number. "Damn, Vic," she said, stepping closer and tugging gently at the hem of the jersey. "You look really good in that. Might have to make it your permanent game-day outfit."

Victoria laughed, her cheeks flushing slightly under Caitlin gaze. "Well, if it means I get to wear your number, I might just take you up on that."

Caitlin's fingers brushed against Victoria's waist, lingering for a moment. "I wouldn't mind that at all," she murmured, her voice dropping to a flirtatious whisper. "might just be my good luck charm"

Victoria's heart fluttered, and she reached up to adjust the collar of the jersey, her eyes never leaving Caitlin's. "Then I guess I'll have to wear it every game," she said softly, leaning in closer. "Because I love being your good luck charm."

Caitlin's smile was radiant. She leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to Victoria's cheek. "You already are, Vic. You already are."

The moment lingered between them, a perfect blend of affection and anticipation, before Caitlin stepped back, continuing to get ready for the game.

The energy was electric as Victoria and Caitlin made their way to the gym, the sound of their footsteps mingling with the distant cheers and shouts from other students heading to the game. Victoria had her camera in hand, ready to take photos for the team's social media.

"Alright, ladies!" Victoria called out as they neared the gym entrance. The rest of the team was already gathered, their faces lit up with anticipation. "I need to take a picture of you guys"

The team gathered around, jostling for position as Victoria snapped a few pictures, capturing their determined expressions and vibrant energy. "Perfect!" she exclaimed, checking the shots on her camera. "You all look amazing"

A chorus of enthusiastic cheers erupted from the group, and Victoria grinned, feeling the excitement. Jada and Kate walked their eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Hey, Vic," Jada said, nudging her playfully. "What's this? You're only supporting your lover girl now?" She gestured to the jersey Victoria was wearing, a teasing smile on her lips.

Victoria rolled her eyes, a smirk tugging at her mouth. "Oh, please. Caitlin just loaned it to me because I forgot my hoodie."

Caitlin, not missing a beat, stepped up and wrapped an arm around Victoria's shoulders. "That's right," she said, her tone dripping with playful possessiveness. "She's here just for me"

Victoria laughed, gently pushing Caitlin away with a light shove. "Sure, Caitlin," she said, her voice full of mock exasperation. "Don't get too full of yourself."

Kate chuckled, shaking her head. "You two need to get a room. But seriously, Vic, you look great in that jersey. Maybe it should be your permanent game-day outfit."

Victoria's cheeks flushed a little, but she played it off with a casual shrug. "We'll see," she said, grinning at Caitlin. "Maybe if Caitlin keeps winning, I'll consider it."

Caitlin shot her a confident look. "Oh, we'll definitely keep winning," she said, her competitive spirit shining through. "Especially with you cheering us on."

The team rallied together as they hyped each other up for the game ahead. Victoria snapped a few more pictures, capturing the lively atmosphere and the strong bond between the players.

The minutes ticked down before the game, the locker room was filled with energy. The team moved through their pre-game rituals, the air thick with anticipation. Victoria stood near her locker, scrolling through the photos she had taken earlier, her mind half on the images and half on the upcoming game.

"Hey, Vic," Caitlin's voice broke through her concentration.

Victoria looked up, slightly startled. Caitlin never talked to anyone before games, always preferring to stay in her zone. "You okay?" Victoria asked, her brow furrowing with concern. "You're usually quiet before the games."

Caitlin nodded, a small smile playing on her lips as she came closer. She rested her head on Victoria's shoulder, her presence warm and reassuring. "Yeah, I just wanted to talk to you," she murmured, her eyes flicking to the screen of Victoria's camera. "That one," she said, pointing to a team picture. "That's the best one."

Victoria glanced at the photo, a candid shot of the team mid-laugh. Before she could respond, Coach Bluder's voice cut through the room. "Alright, ladies! It's time! Let's get out there and show them what we've got!"

Victoria stood by the door, ready to give everyone a high five as they headed out. Kate came next, an excited grin on her face. "Money Martin! come on make your favourite twin proud" Victoria cheered while laughing"

"You know it twin" Kate grinned, her enthusiasm infectious.

Kylie approached, her expression a mix of nerves and determination. "You've got this, Kylie," Victoria encouraged, her hands going to rub the girls shoulder.

Kylie smiled gratefully. "Thanks, Vic"

Sydney, the last one out, gave Victoria a confident smile. "Come on Syd you can do this" Victoria said, their hands connecting in a firm, final high five.

"Absolutely," Sydney said, her voice filled with conviction.

Finally, Caitlin stood by the door, her eyes meeting Victoria's with a mixture of gratitude and determination. "Thanks for being here, Vic," she said quietly, their high five lingering a moment longer.

Victoria squeezed Caitlin's hand briefly, looking into her eyes. "Always, you're gonna do amazing"

Caitlin's eyes softened, her expression turning tender. "Thanks, Vic. That means a lot."

Before Caitlin could move, Victoria leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. "Go get 'em, superstar," she whispered,  her voice filled with affection and encouragement as she called Caitlin by her old nickname. For a second Victoria was taken back to when they first met.

FLASHBACK

It was the summer before their freshman year when Caitlin first visited the campus for an informal meet-and-greet arranged by Coach Bluder. Victoria was already there, helping her grandmother set up for the event.

Coach Bluder called Victoria over just as Caitlin walked in. "Victoria, I want you to meet someone very special. This is Caitlin, the new recruit I've been telling you about."

Victoria looked at Caitlin, recognizing her from the numerous stories her grandmother had shared. "I've heard a lot about you," Victoria said with a warm smile. "You're like a superstar."

Caitlin grinned, the tension in her shoulders easing at the friendly reception. "Oh yeah?" she replied, a playful glint in her eyes. "Well, I hope I can live up to the hype."

END OF FLASHBACK

Caitlin walked out with a wide grin on her face. Victoria followed behind, sitting down on her seats as she watched the game unfold.

The gym was alive with excitement as the game entered its final minutes. The Iowa Hawkeyes were in the lead, and the crowd's cheers reverberated through the air, a sea of black and gold. Victoria stood in her seat, her heart pounding with anticipation and pride.

With just seconds left on the clock, the ball found its way to Caitlin. The crowd held its breath as she maneuvered to the three-point line. Time seemed to slow as Caitlin took the shot, her form perfect and confident. The ball arced through the air, and as it sailed toward the basket, Caitlin pointed to Victoria, their tradition that always filled Victoria with a surge of joy.

The ball sank through the hoop, sealing the victory for Iowa. The crowd erupted into deafening cheers, the energy in the room reaching a fever pitch. The final buzzer sounded, and the Hawkeyes had won the game.

Victoria barely had time to process the win before the court was flooded with ecstatic fans. She scanned the crowd, her heart racing, searching for Caitlin. And then, through the sea of faces, she saw her.

Caitlin pushed through the people, her eyes locked on Victoria. When they finally reached each other, Caitlin threw her arms around Victoria, pulling her into a tight embrace. The noise of the crowd faded away, leaving just the two of them in their own bubble of happiness.

"You did it, Superstar," Victoria whispered, her voice filled with pride. "You were amazing out there."

Caitlin hugged her tighter, her breath warm against Victoria's ear. "I couldn't have done it without you, Vic," she murmured. "You're my good luck charm."

Victoria laughed softly, her heart swelling with emotion. "I'm so proud of you, Caitlin. You played so well:

They pulled back slightly, just enough to look into each other's eyes. Caitlin's smile was radiant, her eyes shining with joy and gratitude. "Thank you " she said softly.

"Always," Victoria replied, brushing a stray strand of hair from Caitlin's face.

Caitlin leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Victoria's cheek, her lips lingering for a moment. "Let's go celebrate," she whispered, her voice filled with happiness.

The gym was still buzzing with excitement as the Hawkeyes celebrated their hard-fought victory. Victoria, her heart still pounding with joy, moved through the crowd, congratulating her teammates. She found Gabbie first, throwing her arms around her in a tight hug.

"You were incredible, Gabbie!" Victoria exclaimed, her eyes shining with pride. "That block in the third quarter was a game-changer!"

Gabbie laughed, returning the hug. "Thanks, Vic! having you in the crowd in something else"

Victoria laughed, her excitement infectious as she moved on to congratulate the others. She high-fived Jada, who grinned back at her.

As Victoria continued to make her rounds, Caitlin stood a little apart, watching her with the biggest heart eyes imaginable. The way Victoria's face lit up with genuine joy and pride for each teammate made Caitlin's heart swell. She couldn't help but admire the passion and love Victoria had for the team, and for her.

Kate sidled up to Caitlin, noticing the adoring look on her face. With a knowing grin, she nudged Caitlin gently. "So, plan on asking her out anytime soon?" she teased.

Caitlin blinked, momentarily flustered, before a small, shy smile spread across her face. "I've been thinking about it," she admitted, her eyes never leaving Victoria. "She's amazing."

Kate laughed softly. " Just go for it, Caitlin, it's obvious even to coach"

Caitlin nodded, taking a deep breath. "Yeah, I think I will. Thanks, Kate."
