" won't you stay? "
" you know i can't. "
they were the only ones who allowed for their lives to collide with each other.
his feathers on his wings were uneven, sticking out at all the wrong places. the boy scowled in disgust at the absurd view of his tail, that always sprung out despite his desperate attempts to tuck it in. the signature trait of a classic devil , it's horns. which he greatly despised. all he wanted was to escape from the hell that held him tight in its unforgiving grip, quite literally.
the mirror was a form of deception. the mere piece of glass was able to find so many faults in an otherwise perfect body, always making sure they spent hours and hours checking their reflection through the looking glass.
he heaved out a heavy sigh, before pulling his usual attire over his head. he stood out from the rest, choosing to wear a light blue blouse , painted with white roses. he slipped on the pair of white shorts, as he pulled his socks up to his ankles.
unlike his fellow devils, he preferred to dress in brighter and much more soothing colours. rather than drowning himself in dull shades such as black, accompanied by a sickeningly bright red that matched most of their wings.
now, he was always taught from young that heaven was a beautiful place, where rainbows were always seen, where pure angels roam around the area. and the clouds. the Cumulus clouds looked like fluffy, white cotton balls in the sky. the clouds up in paradise were beautiful in sunsets, and their varying sizes and shapes made it entertaining for him to observe.
however, today was a different day! jeongin wasn't going to just watch the clouds from afar. he was going to touch them! maybe they would melt on his fingertips or feel as soft as a feather.
the only thing that stood between jeongin and his goal was the laws set up by the holy ones that ruled the afterlife. both angels and devils were strictly prohibited from visiting one another. no angel were allowed near the entrance of hell, while devil's were warned that entering the gates of heaven was a taboo.
on the other side, an angel was combing through the locks of his jet black hair, adjusting the black sweatshirt that hugged his toned body just right.
he placed his harp in the back of his pocket, before leaving heaven.
you see, chan wasn't like the type of angels that most had pictured in their heads. while most angels had a heart of gold, chan's pureness was just slightly tainted with a hint of mischief. there was nothing more enticing to him than the feel of sinning. while angels would commonly be seen wearing all white form head to toe, Chan preferred to dress in all black. moreover, being surrounded by the clouds that he gotten used to seeing everyday, he couldn't help but wish for a change.
the other angels would gather in groups, whispering in houses voices and making theories about the forbidden place, hell. this only fuelled chan's determination and curiosity.
he decided that today was the day he should explore hell. to see if the devils were as bad as the angels said to be.
the devil and angel flew to their desired destinations, wishing that they would succeed in their plans. thoughts clouded their head, oblivious to the direction they were flying in.
the two boys clashed into each other, skin brushing against skin as their wings almost came in contact with each other.
the shy devil bowed his head to the mischievous angel, babbling more than a thousand apologies.
" a shy devil? that's new. "
jeongin looked up, blush coating his cheeks as he stared the gorgeous man before him.
jeongin's hands flew to his blouse pockets as his eyes darted around. he couldn't believe that such a perfect angel existed.
he took in the soft glow that radiated around Chan, the way the halo shone brightly above his head. and the enchanting harp that was peeking though chan's back pocket. he wanted more than ever, to touch his wings. they were purely white and beautiful, unlike his.
" w-what are you doing here? why are you wearing black? aren't angels supposed to dress in white? a-also , what does clouds feel like? are they nice? -"
jeongin rambled , nervously fiddling with his fingers.
" well kid, im Chan. i suppose that your name is jeongin? you're quite the talk in town, everyone in heaven has developed quite an interest to you, my devil. i prefer to dress in black. it's no fun wearing the same colours and black signifies so many things..
would you like to come feel the clouds with me? they are nice.. i was just about to visit hell. "
chan answered calmly, amused as jeongin's eyes widened, adrenaline pumping through his veins.
" hold my hand dear. "
" o-okay "
the feeling of chan's slender hands wrapped against jeongin's same slender ones. warmth spread through the pair's bodies as their hands connected, causing a light blush to coat their already reddened cheeks.
" angel, touch these clouds. they're pretty, just like you. "
the pet name chan gave jeongin heavily contrasted with jeongin's respective title but he nonetheless like it. it made him feel warm and fuzzy when Chan called him pretty.
jeongin reached out his hand uncertainty, extending his fingers to brush against the clouds. just like they were described, the clouds in heaven were.. beautiful. so soft, fluffy and light. jeongin admired the the cotton-like mist that landed on his hands, while Chan extended his grin.
" t-thank you hyung! was so s-so beautiful.. do you want to v-visit h-hell? "
chan shook his head while petting jeongin's soft hair.
his heart panned against his chest, instantly feeling himself turning into a puddle at the devil's innocence. something about him felt so different.. it must be silly to think that he had fallen in love with the shy devil. but he did..
" won't you stay? "
chan asked, looking at the younger with pleading eyes.
" you know I can't "
jeongin sighed sadly, clearly disappointed that he couldn't stay beside the angel he had grown a strong attachment to.
the silence that fell onto them was broken due to the chim of the ringing bells. the two boys connected their hands again, whispering a teary goodbye.
" i can't stay, sorry Chan. "
" it's okay jeongin. i hope to see you soon.
jeongin nods, watching chan's wings beat fast, shooting him into the sky , his wings taking him further and further. before he knew it, Chan was gone.
for a few seconds, jeongin was dazed. did he really talk to an angel? did he really touch the clouds? jeongin himself didn't dare to believe what had happened. that was until a small feather floated down the heavens. jeongin reached out his palm to catch it. the feeling on his palm was so soft to the touch and faintly felt like the presence of chan.
# hope you enjoyed this! thank you for the kind words and i hope you're doing well <3
