[Unlucky ] - [IU]

Kang Haein walked down the sidewalk with a confident air, her designer fit turned heads as she passed. Dressed to the nines in Miu Miu jeans, a sleek Chanel blazer, and accessorized with Versace shades and Vivienne Westwood jewelry, she owned the streets like a runway.

With her trusty Birkin bag slung over her arm, she reached her sleek pink Mercedes, effortlessly commanding attention. Snatching the keys from the driver with a nonchalant flick of her wrist, she slid into the driver's seat.

As Haein cruised down the road, her phone buzzed with a call from her best friend.

"Couldn't they just wait a little longer," Haein sighed before answering."Go on, Jia, why'd you call?" she asked, her tone tinged with impatience.

"Girl, hurry up! We turned on live on Insta for you."

"I'm on my way to the party, just wait for me,"

"I'm telling you, we have a surprise for you. IU is literally singing for you on Instagram. Okay bye Kisses," Jia teased before ending the call.

Unable to contain her excitement, Haein grinned from ear to ear as she joined the live stream. As IU's voice filled the car, Haein couldn't help but sing along, her own voice blending seamlessly with the music. With each note, her excitement grew, and she felt a surge of joy as 15k viewers tuned in to share the moment with her.

Caught up in the music and excitement of the moment, Haein failed to notice the traffic light turning red until it was too late. With a quick exhale, she slammed on the brakes, but the collision was unavoidable.

Stepping out of her car, Haein surveyed the scene with a cool demeanor, hardly flinching at the sight of the damage. Meeting the other driver's gaze, his striking appearance caught her attention immediately.

With his jet-black hair framing his chiseled features, his fair, clear skin seemed to glow under the sunlight. His eyes, wide and expressive, held a depth that drew her in, while his lips, perfectly shaped and adorned with a subtle curve.

Haein couldn't help but admire his good looks, a fleeting moment of appreciation crossing her mind before she returned her focus to the matter at hand.

She maintained her composure, a hint of annoyance in her voice."As you can see, there's no significant damage," she stated matter-of-factly, her tone dismissive.

Without waiting for a response, she turned on her heels and walked away, leaving the scene behind without a second thought.

The man in front of her seethed with anger. "Yours is fine, but mine?" he exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice.

His friend, with short black hair and an undercut, chimed in. "No, it's not your car. That's why it's a nuisance," he said, trying to defuse the tension.

The driver shot his friend a glare, clearly not appreciating the comment. Haein, feeling a bit bored, decided to have some fun.

"If it's not your car, then whose car is it? What are you doing in someone else's car?" she teased, a mischievous glint in her eye.

"That's none of your business, miss. The real question is, what are you doing when it's a red light?"

"Uhh, show me your license first, if you even have one."

"Oh, so you're playing tough now, are you? Not before you prove you're not just some spoiled brat," he shot back, a smirk of superiority etched on his face.

Haein's jaw clenched, her patience waning. "Yeah, true, I ran a red light. But you should've checked the road first, dimwit," she spat, her words like venom.

He bared his teeth in a mocking grin. "Jay, what's this airhead blabbering about now?" he muttered to his friend.

"Jake, she said you weren't paying attention," Jay replied, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Jake's eyes narrowed with malice. "Your friend's got a mouth on him. Shame you're too dumb to understand," Haein shot back, relishing the sting of her words.

Jake's face contorted with rage as he shot daggers at Jay before storming back to the car, the air thick with animosity.

"Listen up, missy. I'm in the right here. Why is that? Because you ran a red light. Red means stop, but I guess you never learned that, huh?" he sneered, his words like a slap in the face.

Their gazes locked in an intense standoff, each refusing to yield an inch, they were abruptly interrupted by the sound coming from Haein's phone.

Jia's voice echoed through the speaker, "Haein? What's going on?" Haein's lips curled into a wicked smile as she raised her phone towards the man beside her.

"Guys, I'm being given a traffic lesson by some maniac on the street," she announced, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

The man's eyes widened in disbelief as he attempted to snatch the phone from her grasp, only to be met with Haein's mischievous giggles.

"He's not only a maniac, I think he's a car thief too. His friend said it was someone else's car," she continued, her voice laced with amusement.

"Who are you calling a thief? I'm a mechanic! I was supposed to hand over the car until you crashed into it,"

Haein turned the camera towards Jake, a smirk playing on her lips. "Do you see whom we entrust our cars to?" she quipped, her voice dripping with mockery.

"Oh, let me hand over my car too. Where's his shop?"

Jake finally managed to wrestle the phone from Haein's grip, his anger boiling over. "Don't get on my nerves. I'm filing a report," he threatened, his tone menacing.

"No."

"We'll file a report, and my insurance will cover it," Jake declared, his tone dripping with authority.

Haein rolled her eyes dramatically. "Oh, sure, blame it on me. But who's to say you didn't crash this heap of metal before today? Your driving skills don't exactly scream 'safety first,'"

"Don't test me. Let's handle this like adults, or I'll have no choice but to involve the authorities,"

A flicker of fear crossed Haein's face, quickly masked by defiance. "Fine, you win." she shot back, her words laced with venom.

As she attempted to make her escape, Jake blocked her path with a smirk. "Don't worry,I'll be back with the papers. Try not to cause any more accidents in the meantime," Haein huffed in frustration but said nothing as Jake walked away, leaving her to stew in her own annoyance.

She waited until they were distracted, then seized her chance. With a mischievous grin, she quickly reversed her car and peeled away, leaving them in a cloud of dust. But to her surprise, they gave chase, their determined headlights looming in her rearview mirror.

As Haein drove along peacefully, her serenity was shattered when she glanced into the rearview mirror and spotted the familiar sight of Jake's red car. Her heart sank, and she sighed in annoyance.

"This guy again? Why is he after me?" she muttered to herself, frustration evident in her voice.

The chase began, with Haein's car darting through traffic as she attempted to lose Jake's relentless pursuit. Despite the tense situation, Haein couldn't help but find amusement in the adrenaline-fueled game of cat and mouse. She giggled to herself, feeling a rush of exhilaration as she skillfully maneuvered through the bustling streets.

Meanwhile, Jake's expression was a mixture of frustration and determination as he struggled to keep up with Haein's swift maneuvers. With each twist and turn, he grew increasingly agitated, his grip on the steering wheel tightening with every near miss.

Despite his best efforts, Jake found himself constantly losing sight of Haein's car as she skillfully outmaneuvered him at every turn. His frustration boiled over, his curses filling the confines of his car as he struggled to keep pace with the elusive Haein.

After the chase through the city streets, Haein finally found herself at her mother's gravesite, seeking solace in the quiet serenity of the cemetery. As she approached the tombstone, she paused, a wave of emotions washing over her.

Tenderly placing flowers and food offerings at her mother's resting place, she spoke softly, her words a whispered tribute to the woman who had shaped her life."Mom, I miss you so much," she murmured, her voice filled with longing.

"If you were alive, things would've been different. They're not bad, but they could've been better if you were by our side."A bittersweet smile crossed her lips as she continued, her gaze fixed on the engraved letters of her mother's name.

"Dad is doing well, surprisingly," she confessed. "And I... well, I'm managing, I suppose. Though there are times when I wish I wasn't here... It's all my fault."

In the midst of her contemplation, her phone rang, the sound breaking the quiet stillness of the cemetery. With a sense of anticipation, she glanced at the caller ID and smiled, her heart warming at the sight of her father's name on the screen. With a sigh of relief, she answered the call, ready to connect with her family once more.
