"This is your final battle. Look above you." All of them comply at Ryoh's words. "Monsters swarm around the skies around their stronghold. Just getting will be a challenge, we could all die here. Any number of us along the way."

(Name) holds her flying broom tightly as she feels her heartbeat getting faster. She doesn't know if she's scared or excited to finally reach her goal. But she surely hopes it's the latter.

She feels a hand rests on her shoulder before giving her a gentle squeeze. "Are you scared?" Rayne asks, his eyebrows furrow in concern. (Name) relaxes as she flashes him a smile. "Not at all." She assures him.

"Are you going after the second son?" The sword cane murmurs, earning a hum of approval from her. "I'll guess we need to part ways then." (Name) nods her head as she pats his head gently.

"No dying, okay?" She smiles cheekily, earning a scoff from him.

"No dying."

(Name) winces as Dot screams in pain after his toe just hits the invisible barrier, and ouch, she can feel his pain just by seeing it.

"Curses! Now we can't get inside!" She deadpans at Ryoh's act. "If only we had someone whose magic could very specifically switch people's places with their own!!"

"Just ask Finn directly, no need to be so dramatic." Ryoh gasps at (name)'s words as he clutches his chest as if he's offended. "How could you, (name)?!" The crimson cane shrugs as she turns to the younger Ames.

"You... want me to go and secure a route for everyone from the inside on my own?" Finn asks, his eyebrows furrow as he starts sweating bullets. All six of them stare at him. "M-Me? Go all by myself? Into the heart of the enemy territory?"

Ryoh looks at him with determination in his eyes. "I know it's a lot to ask of you, but we need your power. Only you can save the world."

Finn trembles violently as he shakes his head vigorously. "No, no, no, no!" He exclaims in fear, but he is already inside the barrier. Ryoh headlocks a scared goblin as he grins. "How convenient that this goblin was taking a walk so you could swap with him," he mutters happily.

"Stop whining and find a way for the rest of us to get inside." Orter murmurs, pushing his glasses to his nose as Finn replies in tears. "But I can't! What if I run into someone?! I can't fight! I'll almost certainly die!!" He cries out.

"It's okay," Finn stiffens. "You can stay right there while we all die and the world meets its end." The younger Ames deadpans as he cries internally.

(Name) steps in front of him as she puts her hand on the barrier, where Finn's hand is rested against it. "It's okay, Finn. You can swap with me if you want. I can fight," she offers kindly to him.

Finn's eyes brighten for a moment, but when he looks down at her hand, he immediately notices the difference in their skin tone.

(Name) has gotten paler since last he met her.

He is not unfamiliar with her. She always visits his and Rayne's home even before he enrols in Easton. He's aware that her magic requires her blood, and that actually concerns him.

So how can he accept her offer when she can die just by using too much of her magic?

His hand that is on the barrier curls into a fist as he lowers his head. "...no, I'll do it." His words shock almost everyone. "I don't want you to waste your blood here, (name)-san. So... I'll do it." He says firmly, despite the shaky tone, he manages to stand his ground.

Those honey eyes flash crimson orbs in (name)'s gaze, making her breath hitch. She immediately looks away as she purses her lips into a thin line.

"Then..." she takes out a familiar crimson locket from her pocket. "Please wear this. The gem will allow you to use your magic power at a higher level," as Finn exchanges its place with a stick, he looks at the beautiful gem in awe.

Lance and Dot approach them, their eyes glue on the item. "Is that a magic item?" Dot asks curiously as Lance hums. "I've never seen such an item."

(Name) shakes her head. "The gem is made of my brother's blood," she mutters quietly. Finn flinches and almost drops the locket, but he manages to catch it before it lands on the ground. "W-Whose blood?"

"My younger brother," she replies curtly. "If you wear it, it will detect your magic power level and raise it into a higher one." She explains, short and detailed.

"I saw Mash wore it too, but he took it off before fighting Domina. Did you give him?" Dot asks curiously as (name) nods her head. "Mhm. But he returned it to me because he is already strong enough. He said he already needs to hold back his strength even without the locket," she smiles as she recalls his words.

Mash looked worried at that time. He was afraid that the locket's power would make him a killer. He himself needed to hold back, so why would he want to increase his strength to another level?

Finn nods his head as he wears the locket and places the gem carefully on his collarbone. "Thank you, (name). After I succeed in bringing you guys inside, I'll return it to you." He smiles. "It's your brother's blood, it must be important to you."

(Name)'s eyes widen for a moment before they soften. A smile adores her face as she nods her head. "Yeah. Thank you," she says gratefully.

As Finn finally leaves, Ryoh nudges her arm gently. "Is it okay?" He asks, his face holds concern as (name) hums. "It's fine," she replies curtly. "Finn and Flynn, they're almost the same..." She smiles softly. "Both of them are little brothers to me."

As Finn pushes the large door open, everyone else is waiting for him with a proud smile, except for three certain tsundere guys.

"I-I'm sorry... to have taken so long...." the young Ames pants heavily. Lance closes his eyes, "An Easton student should be able to do at least this much." He mutters as Dot grins at the half-blonde. "You did it, Finn! I knew you had it in ya!"

"O-Oh... that..." the latter stumbles, almost falling onto the ground if it's not for Ryoh catching him. "Great job!!" He compliments the young lad.

Finn seems to be flattered by that. "I... I don't deserve praise from a divine visionary. Honestly I was really close to giving up partway..." he furrows his eyebrows, his honey orbs are shaking. "...ditching everyone... and saving myself. I'm such a wimp..." he mutters, upset of himself.

Ryoh smiles softly as he comforts the younger male. "You're human. Every human feels that way. But it takes a man to see it through."

(Name) deadpans as she approaches them. 'Am I a man then?' She sighs internally.

As her eyes meet Finn's, she offers him a smile and gestures at him to come to her. "Let me treat your wounds," she offers. Finn nods his head before he takes off the locket she gave him before.

"Here," he hands it to her gently. "Thank you, (name)-san. The locket helps a lot," he smiles. "I can exchange places in a wider range."

(Name) takes the locket before keeping it in her pocket. "You're welcome, Finn." She smiles, ruffling his hair gently.

After that, Ryoh comes to talk with Finn, so (name) gives them some privacy and walks away from them. She stares down at her hands before clenching them.

Fabian... I can finally avenge you.

"(Name)," she flinches as Ryoh approaches her. Has he talked to Finn? That's quick.

She hums, but she's not looking at him. He grabs her hands gently, only then, she pays attention to him.

"Promise me," he mutters. "Don't do anything reckless. Promise me you will stop when you reach your limit. Ask for help if you need it." He breathes out, his tone slightly shaky. "Promise me... that you won't keep it to yourself again."

(Name) feels her chest tighten at his words. She wants to assure him, to promise him that everything will be alright.

But Ryoh is not a fool. Those sugarcoated promises won't get him.

"I... can't promise anything."

(Name) feels guilty. She's not the only one who mourns over Fabian's death. Ryoh mourns over his friend's death, too. After all, he carries more burden than her. Fabian asked Ryoh to take care of his family. To take care of her and Flynn.

But he failed.

The unpredictability of the (last name)s failed him. Not only one, he failed to save two of them.

(Name) is aware that Ryoh blames himself for her brothers' deaths, even though she never blamed him. Not only that, she even burdened him by attempting suicide two years ago.

She remembers that night. When the light cane knocked on the door of their house, all bloody; the red liquid was not even his own- it was Fabian's, who was limping in his arms, not moving, lifeless- apologising, crying.

Ryoh Grantz, the light cane, the narcissist, had cried because he lost his best friend. He had cried because he couldn't be a man and do anything to save his friend.

"(Name), please..." She feels the tremors through his hands. "I can't lose you too."

I don't want to lose myself too, she wants to say that. I don't want to die here. I want to live, with my friends, with my family, with those who I care for. But-

"I can't promise you anything," her breath hitches. "But I'll try."

Ryoh exhales shakily before he takes the crimson locket from (name)'s robe. He puts it on her as the gem falls to her cleavage that is covered by her shirt.

"Use it, (name). Flynn wanted you to use it." Ryoh mutters quietly.

"I'm planning to," she replies. "I assure you. This time, I'll avenge him."
