I hope she is alright, carrying the weight of humanity on her shoulders? Was it too soon?
Lightly shading a few trees, my eyes trail along the landscape picture that I somehow managed to draw down. My eyes heavily lidded, threatening for sleep and some rest. Just sitting in such a luxurious bed was beyond what I could ask for, and having the lamp was brighter beside the bed than ours from before.
Tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, my hair messily rests upon my shoulders.
I wore a large loose fitting shirt on that reached just above my knees, which I was thankful to wear something else besides the uniform. It felt more comfortable, and less constricting for myself to move in. With my shoulder gauzed and in a sling, it was difficult to do tasks I couldn't do with my left arm.
A soft creak gently echoes in the silence, as my eyes slices up to see him.
"Levi......you're alright," I breath out, with relief while watching him walking to the end of the giant queen bed. He carefully takes his boots off, lining them neatly at the foot of the bed before making his way around to me.
Sliding a hand from my jaw, to the nape of my neck he leans down.
"Doing okay?" he asks deeply, while I hum softly in response. Leaning up I press a soft lingering kiss upon his lips, before pulling away gazing into his eyes.
"Yeah.........."
He lifts himself before peeling his forest green cloak from around his shoulders, and placed it on the hook not far from the bedside table. Following with his jacket, he carefully takes the straps off before making his way around the bed.
"A change of clothes is in the ensuite," I inform him, keeping my voice low to not cause any disturbance for those who're sleeping.
"Thank you, won't be long,"
With that he leaves me alone again, as I sat back against the headboard and fluttered my eyes closed with relief. I wonder how it went with Kenny, and if he found out who the man was to Mikasa or even to Levi. This world is filled with secrets, that it can surprise you that you might be a long lost relative or even someone important from a wealthy family or something.
However the look I noticed on Levi's face, seemed troubled and distant.
Did something happen?
Closing my book I placed it on the side and adjusted myself in bed, grimacing from the slightly movement my arm gives. Still hurts like a bitch, but it was gonna be difficult to sleep with.
The door creaks open again as the light switches off, as I felt the sheets being moved to the side. Within moments arms wrap around me delicately, as he buries his face into my chest without another word. Surprised by his sudden affection, my hand hesitantly threads through his raven hair tenderly.
"Did anything happen?" I ask softly, combing my fingers through his hair.
A heavy discontented sigh causes his shoulders to rise slightly, before he lifts himself up seeing his face more clearly. My hands drift to caress his cheek, before cradling his face noticing he wasn't his usual self.
"When you're ready to tell--" before I could finish, he shook his head.
"It's fine.......we...." he struggled to find the words, pursing his lips while the melancholy of his voice left me hanging with dread and anxiousness for him. "....we found him, but......he wasn't too well....."
A heavy pause fills the air, as his eyes focused solely on thin air in front of him.
"....and?"
"He kept going on about that we're all drunk on something," he continues to explain, while I listened to him with everything. "The shit he kept rambling on, it was all so stupid.........."
"So........who was he to you?"
His eyes flicker to mine, "Kenny Ackerman..........was my uncle," his voice almost breaking, while my eyes slightly widen with surprise. "My mother's brother, so.....I guess that's where I came.....from."
"Wait....did you say, was?"
He nods stiffly, while my chest tightened in response now knowing his relation to the an.
"So......that's means....he's....." I trail off, already knowing the fate of Kenny.
It pained me to know he knew nothing of his history, but now he discovered his true name that I was worried he regrets being born. I knew about his mother's passing, but he remembers nothing of her, but her death. That's all I knew about him, but now he has blood that holds a mystery.
"You don't have to talk, if it hurts......." I assure him, but he shook his head.
"You're mine, you should know what I'm thinking," He insists, which surprised me more knowing he hates to talk about this kind of stuff. He took my hand in his, and caress his thumb over my knuckles softly. "Besides......he saved my life when I was young, so.....without him I don't think I would've ever survived the streets alone."
Worriedly I gaze at him, "Levi....."
"My last moments with my mother were memories, I wish i could erase because it was too painful to see her weak and frail," he heavily sighs, while noticing his jaw clenching tightly. "The old man came.....not identifying himself at first, but took me in as if I was his own. Fed me......dressed me properly, taught me how to defend myself and made sure I took my survival seriously.........I just never understood why he cared til now....."
Here I was complaining about my life, when Levi struggled without anyone except Kenny to teach him the way of life.......but the most brutal way......
He falls silent while squeeze his hand, comfortingly.
I turn to him crossing my legs together, as the sheets twist slightly around my waist while I shuffle closer.
"I don't think he would've saved you, without a good reason," I spoke up, my thumbs caressing over his knuckles softly. He seemed to doubt it for a moment, before taking my small hand in his slightly larger one. "Even though he gave me a bad impression on the person he was, despite the man he was, I think.......he truly did care about you to some extent."
He scoffs softly, while I gave at his eyes tenderly.
"Don't forget.......I'm here for you, now," I softly ensure him, while his breath hitches in his throat. "I may not have good qualities of a good girlfriend, but I want to help and support you with everything we go through......no matter how or small it the situation it is......."
His jaw clenched while his eyes search in mine, wondering if what I said was too good to be true.
"You're such......a dumbass," he sighs, before tugging me into his lap. Carefully my hand rests against his chest, while our noses were almost touching. "Everything about you, is what keeps me living on..........you're mean everything to me.....so don't bullshit me with your self doubts about yourself......okay?"
His eyes soften, his brow hiking slightly up with concern.
"Okay........"
Soon warm lips envelope over mine softly, slowly melting beneath his warm touch that gently caresses me. Warm tears well, threatening to spill while I tried holding onto him afraid to let go. His thumbs circulates over my cheeks tenderly, while a contented sigh drifts from my lips when he pulls away.
"Thank you......for listening,"
I softly smile, "I'm always here to listen okay, just let me know if you ever need to talk or vent to me," ensuring him, with my support and hand.
He buries his faces into the crook of my neck, and presses a soft kiss to my shoulder.
"Thank you.....again....." he muffles warmly, against my skin.
