He smiled, so I got up and asked for his name
"That don't matter", he said, "'Cause it's all the same"

Said, "Can I take you home where we can be alone?"

And next, we were movin' on, he was with me, yeah, me
Next, we were movin' on, he was with me, yeah, me, singin'

"I love rock 'n roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock 'n roll
So come and take your time and dance with me"
Ow!

------

For the rest of the day, I hung out with my brother until PE. Sadly, that was my last class of the day, and I had it with Bill, Stanley (the guy with the curly hair) and, to make it even worse, Richie.

After changing into shorts and a white t-shirt, I walked out to see everyone warming up. I strolled over to my new friends and decided to start a conversation. "So, is school always this thrilling, or is today just special for me?" Bill and Stanley laughed at my joke, Ritchie just glared. "Nah, it's always like this. You're lucky we only have four months left. It's usually torture at the beginning and middle," Stanley said.

I then noticed a group of girls huddled together, gossiping about something, and I figured I'd have a little fun. "Hey, When does class start?" I asked. "Never. We usually just stand around the whole time or run around while the teacher sleeps through it," Stanley said.

"Great."

So, I pranced over to the group of girls, acting as girly as humanly possible-if that's even a thing. "Heeyyyy, I'm new here!" The blonde girl in the middle looked at me like I had three heads. "Um, hi?" she said. I smiled, straightened up, and asked, "Who are you talking about?" The girls started giggling. "That whore, Beverly Marsh," one of them said. Beverly, huh? Pretty name.

"I heard she's fucked more guys than humanly possible." Well, they sure do talk a lot. "She's right there." They pointed to a pretty girl with orange hair-hey, I'm not the only one!- She seemed pretty normal, like someone I could totally be friends with, so I decided to have her back.

"Bet she doesn't cum as much as you talk smack about people that are clearly better than you," I said casually, without even breaking a sweat. It took her a minute to catch on, but by then, I'd already started walking over to Beverly.

"Hi, you're Bev, right?" I asked. She gave me a look like I was about to call her every name in the book.

"If you're here to call me a whore or some shit, get the fuck away from me," she snapped.

Yikes, talk about defensive.

"chillax. I think you're totally tubular. Besides I don't think you're the type of girl to do any of that, honestly. You probably haven't even had your first kiss yet, let alone whatever they're spreading about you," I said, trying to make her laugh.

"Thanks... Aren't you, uh, Lily?" she asked, looking at me a little more curiously now.

"The one and only," I answered with a grin.

"Yeah, Richie couldn't stop talking about you during math. I swear. Nice to meet you!Sorry about them their such bitches," she added, glancing over at the gaggle of girls who were still whispering in the corner.

"Yeah, . Sometimes the bitchy blonde Barbies can't stop talking trash about anyone, especially if they're not in their clique," I said with a smirk.

Pause did she say Ritchie was talking about me?

"Yeah, so true," she laughed. "Anyway, why did you come over here?"

My train of thought was broken

"Well, for one, you were sitting alone, and two, it gets kinda annoying hanging out with guys all the time," I said with a shrug. She laughed again, and I swear, it was the most contagious laugh. She should've been way more popular than she was-so why wasn't she?

I decided then and there I was going to be her friend. "So, does that mean we're besties now?" I asked, giving her a playful smile.

"Yeah, you're cool," she said, clearly amused. Success! New friend unlocked.

For the rest of the period, I hung out with Beverly until it was time to head home. On my way out, the guys-Richie, Eddie, and the whole crew-walked up behind me, all curious about what I'd been doing for half the class. I just shrugged and said, "Making some friends." To my surprise, they actually believed me.

When I got home, Charlie gave me an earful for telling my homeroom class that we were related.

But honestly? No regrets.

For the first time in a long time, I actually had fun at school.
