Chapter Four
WATCH YOUR BACK

     Ryan had decided he would go and see Miguel. He wanted to make sure the boy was doing well but he also wanted to get his side of the story. Moon was right when she said that maybe what Ryan saw wasn't what actually happened. He did leave after 2 seconds of watching them.

     "You got this Ryan. Just walk in there and play it cool. He's your boyfriend for God's sake. Well, ex-boyfriend." Ryan shook his head. He couldn't believe he was talking to himself. He was going to go in there and act like he always did.

     Ryan approached Miguel's room and he heard voices inside. His eyebrows furrowed and he slowly peaked through the doorway to see Sam talking to Miguel. Now he wouldn't have thought anything of it if he didn't see the girl handing Miguel a card with a heart on it.

     Ryan shook his head and turned around, quickly leaving the hospital floor. He was stupid to think Sam wouldn't be there. She had probably been coming every day since Ryan stopped. It made sense. They probably realized they liked each other still after they kissed.

     Ryan knew heartbreak was inevitable. He was still young and had a lot of life ahead of him. He just never expected it to hurt this bad.

     Taking out his phone Ryan clicked on his sister's contact. She answered after a few rings. "Hey, are you busy? I need to talk to you."

     "Sorry, I have a car wash to crash." She hung up and Ryan looked at his phone in frustration.

       Mara sighed before walking into the car wash that was set-up for Miguel. She was wearing a blue tie-dyed bikini top and jean shorts. Her sunglass sat squarely on her face and a smirk rested on her lips. It was time to have some fun.

     "What the hell are you doing here?" Mara looked over to see Sam and Demetri storming over to her.

     "What does it look like? I'm helping out."

     "You better not start anything."

     Mara chuckled and took off her sunglasses. She folded her arms across her chest and bit one end of the glasses. "The only one I see starting things is you, Larusso. I'm here to help out a friend. I suggest you step out of my way and let me."

     Demetri glared at her. "I don't know what's gotten into you lately, but I'm not gonna let you ruin this."

     "And what are you going to do?"

     Sam stepped in front in front of Demetri and before she could talk Mara put her finger to Sam's lips to shush her. "I would be careful what you say to me Larusso. I didn't get a chance to have my way with you." She traced a finger along Sam's jaw. "And trust me it's not in the fun way."

     She smiled and put her sunglasses on before walking past the two and finding a car to wash. She saw Moon at one and smirked before approaching the girl. "Pass me a rag please?"

Moon looked up at her and Mara smirked as she watched the girl's eyes drift down before snapping up. "Uh yeah." She got a rag and handed it to Mara. "You look good."

"I know." Mara turned and started to wash the car beside her. She made sure to lean over it, getting soap on her stomach. She could feel Moon's eyes on her and she was enjoying every minute of it. She heard the revving of a motorcycle and she looked up to see Hawk, Assface, and another Cobra watching from afar.

She smirked at her boyfriend and leaned over the car farther, biting her lip. Of course, she gained some attention from the people around her, but she only cared about Hawk who she could see flip up his visor.

     Standing up straight, she turned to Moon who tried to play off the fact that she was staring at the purple-haired girl. "You know, Moon, it's not a crime to stare. I understand."

     "I wasn't staring," Moon replied washing the car in front of her.

     "Of course you weren't."

     The car wash went by quickly in Mara's opinion and she stayed behind until it was just her, Nathaniel, and another boy. The other boy walked away and Mara stopped Nathaniel. "Hey, I appreciate what you guys are doing for Miguel. He'll really appreciate it."

Nathaniel nodded but looked at her wearily, not believing the nice act she was putting on. He was right because right as she finished her sentence they were surrounded by three motorcycles.

Hawk hopped off his bike and grabbed Nathaniel. Looking at Mara he smirked at her. "Thanks for keeping him distracted babe."

She winked at him. "It was my pleasure." Flipping her hair over her shoulder she walked off ignoring the commotion that erupted behind her.

     Mara was walking down the hall at school the next day when she saw that girl from the day before talking to Hawk. They were too far away for Mara to hear what they were talking about.

She watched as the girl laughed at something Hawk said and gently touched his arm. Either Hawk didn't notice or he didn't care since he didn't move away from her.

"Looks like Dylan's moving in on your man," she heard someone whisper in her ear. Mara turned to Max.

"Her name is Dylan?"

"Yeah. She's on the wrestling team. You're not gonna let her get away with hitting on your boyfriend, are you? I would think with that Cobra Kai mentality you have and all, you wouldn't allow it."

Mara glared at Dylan. "Trust me. I won't."

"If Mohawk dude ends up being no good, I'm always free to hang out. I have a bit of wrestling skills myself."

Mara pushed him into the lockers beside them and walked off. Max winced and held his shoulder. "Feisty. I like it."

        Mara stretched and prepared to go on their run for cross country. She was still angry about the Dylan situation and Gia being beside her did nothing to calm her already rising anger.

     Gia glared at her and Mara turned to her and gave her a more terrifying one. "I wouldn't push your luck, Gia. I'm already angry and you don't want to anger me anymore."

     Gia smirked and stretched out her arms. "Why? Did daddy not pay you enough today?"

     Mara clenched her jaw and got in a starting position as Coach started to count them off. Coach counted down and then they were off. Mara was ahead of the group in the first 5 minutes having not missed a day of training. Surprisingly, Gia was beside her able to keep up, but not for long.

     What the Asian girl didn't realize is that she didn't have the same strength and stamina Mara did. She would run out of energy before she even reached the halfway point.

     Mara noticed Gia speeding up and trying to run past her and the Abrams girl just picked up her speed. She wasn't running nearly as fast as she could.

     Gia pushed herself harder so she was shoulder to shoulder with Mara and she grunted as Mara shoved her shoulder into hers. Gia glared at her and shoved her back causing Mara to stumble and fall behind slightly.

     With full anger, Mara sped up and shoved Gia roughly causing the girl to fall and roll into a few bushes. Mara smirked at her as she ran past and continued down the trail.

     Mara finished the run first and took a deep breath. Coach patted her on the back congratulating her. The rest of the team followed soon including a muddy Gia who had a few scratches on her legs.

     "Ms. Williams? What happened to you?"

     "Mara shoved me into a bunch of bushes."

     Coach looked at Mara and Mara shook her head with a sad look on her face. " I would never do something like that Coach. You know me. She kept trying to trip me and I pushed her off and she tripped and fell."

     "What," Gia exclaimed. "She's lying!"

     One of Mara's teammates stepped up behind her and looked at Coach. "She's not lying Coach. I saw Gia trying to shove Mara and throw her off."

     Another teammate came behind Mara. "Yeah, I saw it too. We don't do that here." The girl turned to Gia. "We're supposed to be a family."

     Mara smirked at Gia and the girl looked around in disbelief. Coach looked at Gia with an angry expression. "We do not accept that kind of behavior on this team, Ms. Williams. This is your first and only warning. Practice dismissed."

     Once Coach was out of sight Mara turned to Gia and approached her, the two girls who stood up for her flanking her on both sides. "I told you, Gia. This is my turf." She leaned in with a devilish grin.

     "So watch your back."
