Chapter Six
I LIKE NAUGHTY

โš ๏ธ TW: This chapter contains physical abuse, homophobia, and biphobia โš ๏ธ

"Never underestimate your enemy. Even if you think they're weaker than you, you always have to stay one step ahead of them. That's the only way to guarantee a victory. Is that understood?"

     "Yes, Sensei."

"Good. Now let's see if you truly understand the lesson." Mara watched as Kreese walked over to the middle of the mat where a plant was sitting on top of a pole. "I want you to kick this tree off the top. Red, you start."

Red tried to do a standing kick but ended up falling and ripping his pants. Mara shook her head. "Pathetic," she grumbled under her breath.

     "Rickenberger, show him."

Doug did a spinning jump kick and ended up falling on his arm. Mara rolled her eyes at him.

     "Stop your sniveling."

Hawk stepped forward. "I can do it, Sensei."

"Well, what're you waiting for?"

Mara watched as Hawk walked up to the pole. Sensei looked at him confused. "Don't you want a running start?"

"Don't need one." Hawk kicked the pole causing the plant to fall and break. Mara smirked at her boyfriend.

"Not bad. Not bad at all."

Hawk backed up and stood in his spot beside Mara and looked at her with a smirk before turning back to Sensei.

"But he cheated," Doug complained.

"Shut up," Mara told the boy. "Unlike you, he actually did what he was supposed to do."

Sensei nodded and walked in front of each student. "If your mind is agile, so are you. That's the best way to beat your enemy. Not just with brute strength. But you have to fight smart. Do that, and you'll always come out on top. Class dismissed!"

Mara walked into school the next day confidently. She wore a black lace tank top with a sage skirt. Her combat boots clicked against the floor as she made her way to her first period.

She decided to wear a black choker today. She thought it matched her current mood.

She ignored both Moon and her brother as she sat down in class. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Moon's gaze wander down her body, secretly admiring her outfit.

Mara leaned over and Moon stiffened. "I can send you a picture later if you want," she whispered. "It lasts longer."

She sat straight in her seat and smirked as she noticed Moon's wide eyes. She leaned back in her seat and twirled her pen between her fingers. The teacher was giving some kind of lesson, but Mara wasn't paying attention. She flipped her hair over her shoulders, exposing her low-cut top.

She felt multiple eyes wander over to her and one glare. She could guess who that was from. "Mara stop," Ryan whispered.

She turned her head slightly. "Stop what?"

He glared at her and that only amused her more. "I can't turn off my attractiveness, Ryan. If you're mad that you're not getting dick anymore just say that."

"That's not what this is about. This is about you being inappropriate," he harshly whispered making sure the teacher wasn't hearing them.

Mara just shook her head at him. "I think you should keep worrying about yourself and stop worrying about criticizing every little thing I do."

"I worry about you, Mara. Is it such a crime to care about my sister?"

She licked her lips and turned around. "I'm still waiting on that apology, Mr. Caring."

"Ms. Abrams." Mara looked forward at the teacher. "Can you solve this problem for us since you have no problem talking in my class?" She pointed to the board. "You might need a little time toโ€”"

"1,047."

"Actually it'sโ€”"

"Point 2. 1,047.2."

"That's correct." The teacher looked away and continued her lesson not bothering to look back at Mara.

Mara left the bathroom stall and went to the sink to wash her hands. She dried them and then looked in the mirror, fixing her lipstick. The door opened and Mara rolled her eyes already knowing who it was. "What do you want? I don't have time for your shit today."

"God. I came in here to use the bathroom. You think you're so special, don't you? You walk around here all high and mighty acting like you're not some spoiled rich bitch who wants attention. You're privileged and you pretend to have such a hard life. Since you want one so bad I'll give it to you."

Mara glared at her. "Why can't you just back off? I've never done anything to you."

Dylan chuckled. "I'm going to ruin you, Mara Abrams. And take your boyfriend all for myself." She walked out and Mara glared before turning to the mirror and punching it as hard as she could.

She hissed and pulled her hand away. Her knuckles were bloody and the mirror was broken with blood in between the cracks. "Damn. That's gonna leave a mark."

Hawk was texting Mara as he headed to lunch. They usually walked together, but Mara told him she had to go to the nurse's office. Something about punching a mirror.

"Hey, Hawk." He looked up to see Dylan walking toward him with a smirk.

"Uh, hi." He kept walking and she grabbed his wrist pulling him back. He snatched his hand out of her hold.

"I was wondering if I could talk to you about something."

"Can you make it quick? I need to go make sure Mara is ok."

Dylan rolled her eyes and stepped closer to him. "I was wondering if you could tell me more about your dojo. I was thinking about joining and well I heard you were the guy to come to for everything."

"Not really. Ask Mara. Her grandfather owns the place."

"I'd much rather ask you." She stepped forward and dragged her fingers up his arm slowly.

He backed away from her. "Look I don't even know you that well. I'm sure you could go on our website and get all the information you need."

Dylan watched in frustration as the boy walked away from her. If she wanted to get under Mara's skin she would need to work a lot harder.

Demetri walked into the lunchroom with his science project. He was slightly struggling to carry it, but luckily his table wasn't too far. "Hey, you ready to rock?"

He sat the project down and everyone at the table looked at it. Max, Ryan, and Yasmine looked confused while Moon just had a smile on her face. "Our Earth Science Presentation."

"I'm ready to go back to a world where we don't have to talk on a regular basis," Yasmine told her science partner.

She felt someone hit her arm and she looked over to see Max shaking his head at her. "Sorry."

"Hey, hey! My popularity's on the rise, while yours is steadily declining. But, uh, maybe we can meet in the middle, like a sexual Venn diagram."

Moon laughed and Yasmine just made a disgusted face. "So what's under the sheet," Moon asked him.

"I'm glad you asked." He pulled the cover off and held his hands up. "Behold, what scientists believe to be the Valley when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Go ahead, press the hadrosaur egg."

Yasmine pressed it and the sound of birds screeching could be heard from the model. Smoke came out of the top and everyone at the table chuckled at the impressive display.

"Not bad. My parents may not have to pay for my A this time."

"Your parents will never have to pay for an A again."

Gia and Sam both came over to the table and looked at the model. "Wow. Did you make this Demetri," Gia asked.

He nodded at them. "This thing is a masterpiece. I mean, everything's to scale. And at 8,251 individual pieces, this meticulously assembled model represents the exact moment before the asteroid hitโ€”"

Demetri was interrupted by a soccer ball crashing into their table and destroying his project. Demetri's mouth dropped open and he looked over to see Hawk coming towards them. The boy caught his soccer ball and looked at his old best friend. "I'm sorry man. Looks like my ball just got away from me."

"That took me three weeks to build."

Hawk shrugged and looked at his soccer ball before looking back at Demetri. "Eh, took my ball three seconds to destroy." The boy walked away with a smirk and Demetri turned back to his table.

"Do you have another one," Yasmine asked him.

Demetri's blood started to boil and he started to walk over to Hawk when a hand was placed on his chest. Mara smirked at him and tilted her head to the side. Two girls stood behind her with menacing looks on their faces. She walked forward and Demetri was forced to back up, his back hitting the table.

"Where do you think you're going?" She looked behind him to see the destroyed project and she pouted before looking back at her former best friend. "Aww, did someone break your toy?"

Gia and Sam both glared at Mara and Yasmine, Ryan, and Moon looked worried. Max just leaned back in his chair and smirked as he watched the scene unfold.

Demetri glared at her. "What's gotten into you, Mars?"

Deciding to ignore the nickname she slyly looked behind her. Demetri followed her gaze to Hawk. "Gross."

She patted his chest. "Don't worry. You'll get there one day." She looked around the table and smirked. "I'll see you all later." She went to walk off, but Ryan grabbed her wrist.

The whole table watched as both twins glared at each other. "When did you start being the bully?"

She glared at him. "I'm not nearly as bad as you were. I'm standing up for myself, just like granddad taught me to." She snatched her wrist out of his hand and walked away, the two girls from the cross country team following her.

Ryan sat down and looked at their table. "Do you see what I mean? Kreese is the problem. He's completely brainwashed all of them."

Demetri angrily stormed over to Hawk who was holding Mara by the waist. Gia and Sam followed after him. "Another week, another pissing contest. Although I shouldn't be surprised since you love pissing so much."

Hawk let go of Mara's waist and approached the boy. "You landed one kick. You got lucky."

Sam crossed her arms and glared at him. "Better back off, or you won't be lucky."

Mara stepped up beside her boyfriend and looked at Sam. "Sweetie, stop being so angry all the time. It's gonna give you wrinkles."

Gia glared at her. "We're not afraid of you. Back off or you'll regret it."

Mara chuckled and ran her finger down Gia's face. "The only thing I regret is not bashing your head into that locker hard enough." Gia backed up and Mara laughed at her and sat on the table behind her. She picked up her apple juice and took a sip. "I think I might have a bit of a blood kink."

Hawk chuckled at her and turned back to the trio in front of him. He saw Counselor Blatt walking over and he smirked as an idea popped into his head. "Like you'll start anything princess," Hawk said to Sam knowing she was the most prone to anger. "Actually why don't you go sleep around with someone new and break his heart?"

Sam shoved him and Doug and Big Red caught him. "What's going on here, Miss LaRusso?" Sam turned around and shock covered her face. "You know our new guidelines against physical contact." She turned to Hawk. "Did she enter your personal bubble without your verbal consent?"

"Yeah, she definitely triggered me in my safe space."

"What are you talking about? He started by destroying my science project." Demetri pointed to the legos on the floor.

"That was an accident! You probably shouldn't bring your toys to school anyway."

"I don't want excuses. I just want you all to respect each other."

"She's right, guys. We should stop the aggression. Micro and macro." Hawk folded his hands in front of him and looked at them with sad eyes.

"Oh, give me a break," Sam spat at him.

"Hey. Consider this a warning, Miss LaRusso. And get these Legos off the ground, someone could get hurt."

Counselor Blatt walked away and Hawk smirked looking between the trio. "For you pansies, no space is safe."

Demetri, Sam, and Gia tied their shoes as they got ready on the bleachers. They were playing soccer in gym class today and Gia was happy as she used to play soccer herself.

"These gym shorts pinch in all the wrong places," Demetri complained.

Sam smiled at him. "Come on. Have a little school spirit."

"Oh, yeah. Go Mountain Lions!" He roared and Gia giggled.

The trio looked to the side to see the Cobras walking in. Hawk had his arm around Mara's shoulders as they walked in front of everyone.

"I wish we could do something about those cretins," Demetri spat.

"We can," Sam told him, still glaring at the group in red.

"How? Counselor Blatt will give us detention just for breathing near them."

"I don't see her anywhere, do you? Besides, what's a soccer game without a little physical contact?"

Gia smirked at her and turned to their team. "They think we're doormats. Let's prove 'em wrong."

The game started and it was Miyagi-Do versus Cobra Kai in full swing. Sam tackled one of the Cobras and stepped on him as he lied on the ground.

Hawk dribbled the ball upfield and kicked the ball straight past the goalie. He cheered and ran back to his side of the field. He caught Mara's eyes and sent her a wink and she just smirked at him and shook her head.

Gia dribbled the ball upfield and Mara came behind her and stole it before passing it to one of her teammates. She looked at Gia and shrugged her shoulders. "Gotta do better than that, G"

She ran off and caught Moon looking at her on the sidelines. She shook her head at the girl and kept running.

Gia had the ball again and she ran straight towards Mara and kicked the ball in the girl's face. The ball hit Mara in the nose and she fell backward. She reached up and felt the blood on her mouth before looking at Gia and smiling. Her teeth were stained with blood. "You're a naughty one aren't you?" She stood up and walked closer to Gia. "I like naughty."

She smirked and ran off and Gia took a deep breath before running over to Sam. The game continued and Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do continued to fight. Hawk had head-butted Demetri and Sam has kicked a boy in the face and that's when the whistle blew.

"You know what? That's it! Everyone to the principal's office now!"

They all started to walk off the field and Gia and Sam got in front of Mara blocking her path. "What happened to you, Mara," Gia asked. "You were so nice to me when I first came to town."

"And you were the one to help me with Aisha. You cared enough to take me to the mall and be my friend. Now you're justโ€”"

"One cold-hearted bitch." Mara cut Sam off. She looked between the two of them and smirked. "And I love it."

Mara came home after Cross Country practice. She hadn't gotten detention and neither did any of the Cobras. Sam was pissed at that since she was the only one who earned detention.

She walked into the house and she heard the sound of things being thrown. Furrowing her eyebrows she rounded the corner to see her dad in her room throwing her books on the ground. She looked over at Ryan's room to see some of his things on the ground too.

"What the hell are you doing?"

Her father looked at her and glared before continuing what he was doing. "Can't believe I have two fags for kids. I mean at least your brother picked a gender but you can't choose can you? You're a slut."

She walked into her room and started to pick up her books that were thrown across the floor. She looked over and tears welled her eyes as she saw the birthday present Hawk got for her laying on the floor. Broken. It was a picture of them on a glass with their initials and an infinity sign. The glass was broken now. The picture had a giant crack down the middle.

She picked it up and turned around to face her father with shaky hands and tears running down her face. She glared at him. "You're a sorry excuse for a father and an even shittier person."

He glared at her. "What did you just say to me? Say it again! I dare you!"

"You're a fucking piece of shit!"

She felt a sharp pain blossom on her left cheek and she fell to the floor. She held the area as she looked up at her father in horror.

"What the hell?" Ryan stood in the doorway an angry look on his face. He had just come home and heard the commotion, coming down the hall just in time to see the scene unfold.

Their father just shook his head and walked past them. Ryan rushed over to his sister and tried helping her up, but she pushed his hand away. "I'm fine." She started to get up and he frowned at the small sniffles he heard coming from her.

"Mara I'm just trying toโ€”"

"I said I'm fine!" She glared at him. "I don't need your help or anyone else's."

She turned around and started to walk back to the front door. Ryan followed her. "Where are you going?"

"For a run." She slammed the door shut and Ryan sighed.

Mara sprinted down the road trying to control her rage. She hated everything. She hated Miyagi-Do, she hated her father, and she hated herself for being too weak to stand up to him. She was done letting people walk all over her. She was done giving them second chance after second chance. It wasn't fun and games anymore. This was what her grandfather had been preparing her for. The real world.

And she would show it no mercy.

Here is the outfit Mara wore to school!

A lot to unpack this chapter. Hawk was not lying to Mara about not noticing Dylan touching him. He was actually ranting about her which is a very Hawk/Eli thing to do.

Also we see Ryan sort of getting the same treatment by their father.

Any predictions?
