"Hello. My name is Sol, and today, I'm here with W magazine for an ASMR interview."
Sol's first object is a globe, just the right size to fit on the table with the two microphones. Sol carefully spins the globe near the mics, catching the subtle sound it makes. She tapped her nails along the metal rims and stand of the globe.
"I've been acting for about 6 years now, but I've been singing much longer. I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to achieve so much success in a competitive industry like this. But a lot of people don't know much about my background." Sol rotated the globe and positioned Russia in front of the camera. She then points at an area in the country.
"I was born in Novosibirsk, Russia. This is where my dad's side of the family is from—well, some of them. I have other relatives who live in bigger cities like Moscow." She started tracing the outline of Russia's borders.
"I only lived there for the first two years of my life before we moved, so I don't remember anything from my childhood, but I do visit now that I'm older. From Russia, we moved to South Korea very briefly." Sol rotates the globe, and South Korea is now positioned in front of the camera. She lightly taps and scratches the globe's surface, then traces the country's outline as she did with Russia. "I don't remember exactly how long we lived in Korea for; I would have to ask my parents. I remember spending a lot of time with my grandparents from my mother's side. My siblings and I would go to their house after school and spend our nights with them. Being in that same house brings back many core memories that I will forever treasure. My grandfather is Korean, and my grandmother is Japanese, so everyone in the immediate family speaks the two languages. Living in Korea for the short amount of time we did is what really helped my grammar and further developed my Korean. This would later be useful for when I move back to Korea." Sol continues to play with the globe for a period of time to give a no-talking ASMR experience before moving on to the following country: Great Britain.
"Next, my family and I moved to the heart of England. Here is where I learned to speak English, which is why I have a British accent. We have moved so many times that my parents do not want to move again. We were planning to stay in England and even got our citizenship after living there for a few years. While I lived there, I went to a school where I felt ostracized because I knew no English. Then, I only spoke Korean, Japanese, and Russian. The language barrier made me want to improve my English even more. After I joined my school's choir, I finally began to make friends. My time in the choir was a lot of fun; everyone knew everyone, and it really did feel like one big family. I knew that even outside of practice, I could count on the girls from my choir for anything. This also marked the beginning of my interest in singing. Unfortunately, for our discomfort, we would move one more time, and this was the hardest move I had to make thus far. I was finally making friends and feeling as if I fit in with a new life I was building, but it all came crashing down as I was forced to leave everything and everyone behind to..." Sol spins the globe a couple of times for the sound and then stops at "Japan."
Sol's voice is like a warm embrace—soft, steady, and effortlessly calming. It carries a gentle, almost velvety tone that glides over your senses, wrapping you in a cocoon of pure relaxation. Each word is spoken with such ease and fluidity that it feels like a slow, comforting river, flowing smoothly without a single ripple of tension.
"While living in Japan, I joined a Korean music label with one of my friends. Together, we trained almost daily in a small dance studio in order to debut in a music group. The label had announced that they would take a few trainees to Korea and train there. I was so young then that I had no idea what this would mean for my future, but I convinced my parents to let me do this, and they agreed to let me move to Korea and live with my grandparents. Living with my grandparents full-time was one of the most unforgettable times in my life. It refined my personality, reshaped my behavior towards life, and made me into the person I am today. I ended up expediting my education and graduated high school early in order to focus completely on training. I trained for a total of five years, during which time I learned how to sing, dance, and do a bunch of other stuff. I took a significant risk moving to Korea and dedicating myself to becoming an idol, but it paid off because guess who debuted in Blackpink?"
Sol's next item was milk. She was given a tall glass, a bowl of ice with tongs, a silly straw, and two Binggrae strawberry milk cartons. Sol had the biggest grin on her face while looking at the drinks on the table. "One of my favorite things in the world is Strawberry milk. I've had these almost every day without fail for most of my life. I've already mentioned before how much I like strawberry milk. I can't stop talking about it."
Sol moved the ice cubes around near the mics, the sound of ice slightly echoing. She then grabbed the glass and tilted it as she put in the ice to minimize loud sounds. Sol grabbed the straw and stuck it in the glass, slowly mixing the ice inside the cup. Her gentle handling of all the equipment not only created incredibly satisfying noises, but it was also pleasing to watch. She touched each thing as if it were the most delicate object on earth. The final step was the milk. She opened the two cartons and poured the drink into the glass. She again stirred her drink with the straw before taking a sip. She was conscious not to make weird sounds while drinking.
"It tastes great, like always. When you see strawberry milk, the first thing you should think of is me. Think of Sol when you see it and drink it. It's basically become my brand at this point, and I love it too much for my own good," she chuckles. After drinking the rest of the milk, the staff clears the table.
Her new items were a wooden chopping board, a knife, celery, and carrots. They represented her passion for cooking and her cooking variety show. "Next, we're going to talk about cooking. Before I moved to South Korea to live with my parents, I made my mom teach me how to cook all of the dishes she made so I could make them in Korea. So whenever I got homesick or was craving Japanese or Russian food, I just cooked it at home, which appeased my heart. My family loved my cooking so much that I transitioned into being the cook of the house at my grandparents' house. I honestly really liked it because my grandmother would go to the market and buy anything I needed while I was at school, and then when I got home, I got to cook whatever I wanted for my family. Cooking for them made me proud of myself, and I finally felt as if I was doing something meaningful in return for my grandparents taking care of me. I was the girls' cook when I moved into our label's dorms. After we got home from practice or a scheduled game, I would make food for us all, and it felt really good to take care of them in that way. I also loved the compliments I got on my food." There's an intimate closeness to the way Sol speaks, like a whisper meant just for you, laced with a natural warmth that instantly soothes the mind. The slight breathiness, the unhurried cadence, and the perfect balance between depth and delicacy make it a voice you could lose yourself in for hours. It's the voice that melts away stress, leaving behind only a sense of peace—like sinking into a cloud-like bed after a long day. Sol's voice is pure ASMR magic, whether speaking softly, humming gently, or simply existing in quiet moments.
Sol picked up the celery first, tapping on it with her long nails. She looked focused as she switched between microphones while tapping and scratching the vegetable. She then slowly snapped the celery in thirds. "There is something so satisfying about the sound of celery. It's not my favorite vegetable, but it takes the cake for snapping noises." Sol put down the three pieces of celery and picked up the carrot. She scratched its surface and bent the carrot near the microphone without completely snapping it in half. For the next five minutes, Sol would expertly cut the vegetables in different ways. A rhythmic, crisp sensation—almost like the feeling of snapping a fresh twig between your fingers. Each cut is a clean, sharp break, like the crunch of biting into a juicy vegetable. The celery, being fibrous and full of water, creates a slightly hollow, snappy vibration, almost like stepping on a thin layer of ice that cracks underfoot. The denser and firmer carrot produces a deeper, more solid thunk, similar to pressing down on a thick, sturdy piece of paper until it folds with a satisfying resistance. Together, the two create a soothing, repetitive pattern—soft yet precise, like the gentle tapping of raindrops on a wooden surface.
"My love for cooking went from a home task, and it later turned into a variety show. We created a YouTube channel for me to post episodes from my variety show where we would host guests and other entertainers, and we would either battle against each other over who has the best dish or cook a dish we had never tried before. At the end of the episode, we would get approval from the crew or a celebrity taster to check how good it is. I always have a lot of fun shooting for it, and I wish I could upload more, but I am always busy traveling."
Sol was handed her next item, a fedora. "A fedora hat. This looks very similar to the one I wore in 'The Lover. '" She examined the hat, checking its fabric and quality. She played with the hat in any way she could get a sound out of it.
"Two years ago, I was in a movie called 'The Lover' based on a French book named 'L'amant'. I played the main girl who went nameless in both the book and the movie. She comes from a poor family who fell into debt after bad investments made by her deceased father. One day on her way to her school, she meets the chinamen who is much older than she and they become involved with each other. When I first read the book, I absolutely fell in love with the storytelling. The story itself made me feel very conflicted. Shooting for the movie was life-changing for me in many ways. The movie won Best Picture at the Oscars and generated almost one billion dollars in the box office. This film opened a lot of doors for me and brought my career to a whole new level, so I'm very grateful for it."
The staff removed the fedora and gave Sol a scratching pole for cats and a lint roller. "I am much too familiar with these two," she begins.
"I have a whole zoo at home. I have two cats, five dogs, and two ferrets. They are one of the most precious things in my life. When I moved out of the dorms, one of the first things I did was adopt more pets. I love animals; they bring me so much life and comfort. The only way they could ever hurt me is if they start ignoring me. Otherwise, I find them to be better company than people at times. Whenever I'm home watching TV in my living room, this is what I hear."
The ASMR of scratching a cat scratching pole is a textured, almost hypnotic sensation—like dragging your fingertips across a rough, woven fabric. The fibers resist and release with a rhythmic rasp, creating a satisfying, grainy sound, similar to the way sandpaper lightly brushes against wood. It's a combination of soft friction and controlled roughness, a whispery, scratchy symphony that feels grounding and deeply relaxing.
Using a lint roller, on the other hand, is the complete opposite—smooth, sticky, and delightfully crisp. As the roller glides across fabric, it produces a light, tacky pulling sound, almost like peeling off a fresh piece of tape. Each roll has a faint, airy pop as it lifts dust and fuzz, while the peeling of the used layer adds a soft, papery rip, like unfolding a delicate sheet of parchment. Together, these sounds create a contrast—one rough and textured, the other smooth and adhesive—both equally satisfying in their own way.
This section of Sol's W Magazine ASMR interview has become the most-replayed part of the video—and for good reason. The combination of Sol's naturally soothing voice and the ultra-satisfying sounds of scratching a cat scratching pole and using a lint roller has captivated viewers, making this moment an instant ASMR classic.
The textured rasp of the scratching pole contrasts beautifully with the smooth, crisp rolling of the lint roller, creating a perfect balance of rough and soft ASMR triggers. But what truly elevates this moment is Sol's gentle, rhythmic approach, ensuring each sound is intentional and deeply relaxing. Viewers have been replaying this section endlessly, describing it as "pure audio bliss" and "the most satisfying ASMR ever" in the comments.
Unsurprisingly, this part of the interview has become a viral sensation, drawing in millions of views as people repeatedly return to experience the uniquely comforting sounds. Sol's effortless way of engaging with ASMR triggers has cemented this moment as one of the most iconic and rewatched segments in W Magazine's ASMR series.
The table is completely cleared, leaving Sol with nothing and giving her a moment to talk and make sounds by herself. Sol gets close to the right mic while scratching the one on the left.
"I speak seven different languages," she begins. "In my family, we were raised to know how to speak Russian, Japanese, and Korean. I learned how to speak English, French, and Italian when I lived in England. Back in 2017, I began learning how to speak Tagalog, and now I am fluent for the most part." Sol then switches sides, speaking to the left mic while scratching the microphone on her right. "Additionally, I am also learning other languages. I am learning Mandarin and Portuguese. My Mandarin has advanced a lot since I have friends who speak the language, and they help me, but my Portuguese is not yet sufficient. I can understand others speaking the language, but I still struggle a little bit. My goal is to become a fluent speaker and not have an accent." Sol switched one last time. "I decided to learn new languages because they interest me. I think being able to speak multiple languages is the coolest thing ever, and I want to learn as many languages as possible. Learning new languages also allows me to connect with Blinks from foreign countries. We have a large fanbase in the Philippines, and the first time we went there, I was able to talk to Blinks and connect with them. I think they really appreciated it, and breaking down that language barrier allowed for more connections and interactions with them. I hope than with learning new languages, I can also take part in projects in other countries. I think it would be a really nice experience to shoot a movie in a different language. It could help expand my range as an actor."
When she taps on her nails, the crisp, rhythmic clicks are gentle yet precise, like tiny raindrops tapping against a glass window. Each tap carries a soothing balance of sharpness and softness, creating a hypnotic and deeply satisfying sound.
As she rubs her nails together, the effect is entirely different—softer, more delicate, like the faint rustling of silk or the whisper of leaves brushing against each other in a light breeze. The friction is barely there, yet it lingers, sending subtle tingles with every shift.
Tapping on her earrings adds a new layer to the experience—a light, metallic tinkling, like tiny chimes swaying in the wind. Whether dangling or studded, each touch creates a dainty, crystalline sound, refined and soothing.
And then, there's the way she plays with her rings. The soft clinking of metal, the faint sliding of a band against her skin—it's an intimate, delicate sound that feels almost like a secret, a quiet lullaby for the ears. Together, these small, intentional movements create a personal, immersive ASMR moment you can't help but replay.
