IMPACTS

Both Hana and Kendrick had waited two years to put out a song together, and in the end, they released an EP album together. Out of all of the artists Hana has worked with, it felt the most natural making music with him. By combining the strong influence and popularity Kendrick has in the West and Hana has in the East, millions upon millions were anticipating this EP and were ready to eat it up. The American Boy music video broke the internet and records by being the most viewed music video in 12 and 24 hours with over 100-200 million views. This release even got on national news in South Korea where they were called the biggest artists of the 21st century.

Hana somehow was able to get Kendrick to promote American Boy and All The Stars on Korean music shows. They both went on Inkigayo and Show Champion. When American Boy won first place in Inkigayo, Hana wanted Kendrick with her for it, and together with her backup dancers created the most unforgettable encore in music show history. The encore got over 302,468,522 views on YouTube and trended on social media for weeks. Promoting in Korea made people realize just how popular Kendrick Lamar actually is in the country.

When it came to the charts, they absolutely dominated. In Korean charts, Luna had taken up the number one spot for almost 8 consecutive weeks. No one was able to kick her out until Hana. Only BLACKPINK can compete with BLACKPINK. So right after the EP came out, American Boy got a perfect-all-kill. However, it was so easy to do this on American charts because who was taking up all of the top spots was her sister, Jia. Her album, "TUTORIALS", which had unexpectedly blown up and became a huge success was dominating the charts in the West. Jia had blocked not only Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift, but she was now blocking "PAGER" from going number one. The album and the singles still charted high, but struggled to get number one. Now it had turned into 'YG artist v. YG artist'. Unfortunately for Hana and Kendrick, they were never able to get their number one in the biggest charts in America, but it doesn't diminish the insane success it still had.

This album brought together rap and kpop fans to tune into their favorite artists together. They were the topic of discussion for weeks and constantly trended on Twitter. The public showered this project with positive feedback and felt like their summer was now ready to start.
