sunoo pulled on his disheveled hair, his eyes closed. he stares at the call history of his phone— the name riki being on top of the list makes him want to scream.

"shit... shit i'm so dumb," he fumbles as he opens the chatbox.

wait, did i say something idiotic last night? he blinks, his brain is still registering what happened last night.

"... should i text him?" he mutters. but what will he say? it seems like ni-ki is avoiding him since he rejected sunoo, and it'll only hurt him more if the freshman ignores his messages.

fuck, whatever.

"fucking hell, jungwon?!" ni-ki snatched his phone away from his friend, who can only shrug in response.

"what? i just replied to sunoo hyung. he said he's sorry about drunk-calling you so i sent a like."

riki fought the urge to smack jungwon's head. since they were waiting for the professor to arrive earlier, he went to the washroom for a few minutes. when he came back, jungwon was already fiddling with his phone.

why did i not put a security lock? ni-ki clicks on the chatbox just to see the two like emojis that he (honestly fuck jungwon) sent to sunoo.

should i tell him that it wasn't me who replied?

"wow, look at you. you're staring at sunoo hyung's nickname on your phone like a lost puppy." jungwon comments, "if you miss him, then go and see him. he says he missed you too, right?"

"shut up, you're literally not helping."

"compared to hiyyih, at least i can give you decent advice."

riki rolled his eyes. "you both suck at giving advice, what do you know about relationships when you're single anyways?"

he hears jungwon mumble something incoherent while scowling.

"what are you saying?"

"nothing." jungwon fakes a smile, "but seriously though, it's been weeks already. do you want to celebrate christmas without sunoo hyung?"

he sighed. he doesn't even know if sunoo would want to spend the holidays with him.

but he said he missed me... fuck, why does this seem so complicated?

"what about you then?" ni-ki tries to shift the conversation by asking jungwon back.

jungwon raised an eyebrow. "huh? i'll be going back to my hometown during the break, idiot. i am at peace because i choose to be single."

jerk, ni-ki whispered inside his head.

he glanced at sunoo's contact name for the nth time before he finally made up his mind.

sunoo feels the corner of his eyes warming up as he read the freshman's text. it was the first time that he felt lighthearted, after weeks of ni-ki ignoring him.

so this must've how he felt back then. sunoo felt like he was given another chance— an assurance, that everything's gonna be okay between them.

"hey sun, can i borrow your jacket—" jay stopped walking into sunoo's room when he saw the boy wiping the tears off his face.

"what happened?"

sunoo shakes his head. "it's nothing, i'm just being dramatic."

jay sighed before sitting beside him on his bed, his arm automatically wrapped around sunoo's shoulders. "no you're not. come on, you can tell me."

the other boy sniffs before handing him his phone and showing jay what ni-ki has texted him.

"he's just..." sunoo starts fumbling on his shirt, a habit that he does every time he feels overwhelmed with his thoughts.

"i just feel like after all i did to him, i deserved to be dumped... because how can a person like him, love someone who's still broken in pieces? i don't deserve him...."

jay stared at him. "stop saying that, you deserve to be happy too. nishimura's feelings are genuine, and don't ever undervalue yourself."

sunoo chuckles. he has never mentioned it, but jay is so great at saying things like this. i'm glad that i have him as my roommate, because who knows what i'd have done when i'm left alone with my thoughts.
