"no, i can't join you tonight... what? no! i swear i'm not feeling well, i already told coach i'm skipping the practice today."

sunoo sipped on his mug of coffee, watching jay argue with someone on the phone. they're having their breakfast and he can't help but hear jay's conversation when he's just sitting in front of him.

he hears the muffled voice on the other line. was that jake? i think that's him.

"your love life is not my concern, and i'm busy. goodbye," jay pressed the end button and put his phone on the table.

sunoo raised his eyebrow when his roommate got up and put coffee on his mug. one thing that he learned about jay is that he rarely drinks coffee, especially in the morning.

"you're drinking coffee. something's wrong."

"excuse me?" jay stares at him before going back to his seat.

sunoo pointed at the coffee that he's holding. "you're not a coffee person. where's your gross protein shake?"

"stop staring at me like that," jay grimaced, "nothing's wrong with me. i just wanted to drink coffee, that's it."

"okay then." he knows that his friend is not telling him something, but he doesn't want to pry further. he'll tell me if he wants to.

it was jay's turn to observe sunoo as the boy got busy on his phone while texting someone.

"how are things going between you and ni-ki?" jay casually asks.

ever since they started dating, sunoo seldom joins them for lunch. the two are always together during their free time, and jay doesn't complain. he likes it that ni-ki is attentive towards sunoo.

"great, i guess." sunoo replied, his eyes still glued on his phone. he chuckled, as if he just read something funny.

he looks happy.

he sighed. it seems like everything is falling into its own place now. great, i feel alone again.

"sun, are you going out later?"

"yeah, we're going to see a movie." sunoo glanced at him. "oh no, i know that look."

jay pouted. "come on, let me join you two!"

"it's a date, jay. you still want to become a third wheel?" sunoo gave him a disappointed face.

he shrugs, "i don't mind. i'm an excellent third wheel."

"but we do mind. you should just attend your practice, do you want me to call your coach-"

"no!" he grabs sunoo's phone before the guy could dial his coach's number. "can't i just join your date? pretty please?"

sunoo massaged his temple. "you are a headache. i hope you know that."

"i'm really sorry."

sunoo apologized again to riki after they finally settled inside the cinema. he is sitting in between ni-ki and jay, holding a slushie on his left hand.

"hyung, it's fine. really," riki assures him, offering sunoo to eat the popcorn. "it feels like i'm getting to know your friends too, so i kind of like it."

sunoo smiles at him and glances at his roommate who is totally focused on the movie. he was really determined to leave jay alone in their apartment, but sunoo feels like something is up with him. he was less cheerful, and his eyes seemed lonely. or was i just imagining it?

he sighed and leaned closer to riki, putting his head on the boy's shoulder.

"thank you. if you want, we can just watch another movie next time."

"yeah, let's do that." riki replies, patting sunoo's head lightly. "but why did you choose this one, hyung? i thought you didn't like action movies."

"i don't, i let jay choose which one to watch." sunoo mumbled. i'm trying to distract that guy on whatever his problem is.

moments later, the three are already immersed in watching the movie. since it was an action movie, sunoo just busied himself eating while ni-ki and jay focused on the scenes.

after a while, riki went closer to his ear to whisper. "why is jay hyung crying?"

sunoo got confused and looked to his left- and true enough, there were tears rolling down jay's face while his eyes are still on the screen.

he takes his handkerchief out and taps his friend's shoulder, handing it to him. "i think you need this."

"huh? ah right, thanks." jay replied, but he looks out of it.

"are you okay, hyung?" ni-ki asked.

jay laughed, wiping his tears. "yup, the movie's just too sad."

sunoo stared at him blankly. "sad? but it's just a normal fighting scene between the characters though..."

i think my roommate is broken.

after hours of strolling and buying random things in the mall, they decided to go home. sunoo brought his car so he dropped ni-ki to his dorm first.

"thank you hyung, i enjoyed hanging out with you two." riki smiled at sunoo and fist-bumped jay before he left the car.

sunoo also got out and followed behind him. "wait, riki."

"did you forget something, hyung?" riki stops halfway before he can get to the gate of their dorm.

he nods eagerly, taking more steps towards the younger. "yeah, i did."

sunoo tiptoes and pulls riki closer to him- planting a soft kiss on his left cheek. there, i feel complete now.

"good night," sunoo pinched his cheek. "baby." he chuckled, teasing riki.

ni-ki's brain stopped functioning for a second. "haha okay bye hyung!"

he almost tripped while running to get inside his dorm. it's true, sunoo hyung wants me to get a heart attack.

sunoo watched him, laughing as he waved goodbye to the younger.

maybe it's time to take this into another step. hopefully, i won't mess it up again.
