jay tossed his phone on the bed while he changed his clothes. he doesn't need to be reminded of how stupid he acted on earlier. heeseung might even think that i don't want to see his face ever again.

what if i see jake too? will i do something dumb again? he sighed. he's been thinking of how to reconcile with his best friend, but he knows that it won't be the same as it was. does jake still like him? or did he find someone better now?

the thought made jay sad. he feels disappointed to himself, that he never had the courage to reach out to jake after he left. he sent one email, and then nothing. jake was everything to me, and just tossed our friendship like it was nothing. i'm a jerk.

his train of thoughts stopped when his phone rang again. he sat on the bed and answered the call.

"hello?"

"kol jay! miss!" he immediately smiled when he heard meiji's voice on the other line.

"well hello there little one, do you miss me?"

"yeth! jiji miss da-" he hears jimin's voice too. "sweetie i told you, it's uncle jay. not dada."

jay rolled his eyes. "oh please, he can call me whatever he wants."

"nope, not gonna happen. meiji calling you dad in milan is fine, but here? goodness jay. imagine the rumors that would fly up. it'll easily reach your... lovers. or whatever you call them."

"they're not my lovers, idiot. they're my friends. and trust me they won't believe rumors."

jimin laughs, "really? you've been friends with them and you don't even know how crazy they can get with just rumors? just look at sunghoon as an example."

"sunghoon's the only bad apple in my friend group. don't compare them to that asshole."

"oh please, they're all men anyways. sunghoon's just the only one who's not afraid to show his awful character."

jay sighed. it's no use arguing with jimin because she always thinks she's right. always.

"by the way, i saw heeseung."

"cool, did you kiss him again?" she says in a boring tone.

"you b- why would i kiss him?!"

she giggled. "chill, i was kidding. so how did it go? did you guys hug like bros and casually talk about things?"

"no, we didn't. i pressed the close button to his face before he could get inside the elevator." he grunts, that exact moment flashing on his brain.

he hears her gasp softly in the background. "oh, you dumbfu- seriously? after i listened to your rants for three years about how you missed him and how you regret not seeing him before you went to milan? i'm disappointed. hell, even meiji's disappointed in you."

jay groaned in annoyance. after spending three years with jimin, he learned to open up to her and talk about topics that he didn't get to let out with his other friends. he told her how he was pining on his best friend for years, only to had his heart shaken up by a guy he never imagined to like.

it was frustrating. i was so sure my heart would always belong to my best friend, and yet... here i am now.

life is running in full circle indeed.

"i regret coming back. i feel like i'm just going to ruin the life that they built when i left." he blurted out softly.

jimin sighed.

"this is why i told you, no second guessing now. you had three years to decide jay. give them the answer that they need, or else you'd be an asshole- just like any other men out there."

jungwon almost choked on his drink when ni-ki casually brings up the topic while they're hanging out together. he clears his throat and glances at jake who got quiet.

nishimura and his fucking loudmouth. he kicks his friend's foot under the table, and riki looks at him with a glare.

they all agreed not to mention anything to jake about jay because they wanted the guy to find out by himself. the plan was going well, not until his cousin decided to bring it up while they're eating éclairs.

"ah, really? sounds great." jake's reply caught jungwon off more.

that's it? after he cried when jay left him? is this trauma response or what? 'cause i'm scared.

"uhm... hiyyih- i think she saw jay in the airport too or something, the other day..." he scratched the back of his neck to ease the awkwardness, trying to cover up a bit of his white lies.

jake exhaled, nodding. "she did? cool. i hope he's doing well."

ni-ki stared at his cousin. "dude, stop it. you're creeping me out. just say that you want to see him and be all emotional, it's better that way."

"shut up, riki." he kicks him again to keep him quiet. he's not even helping at all.

jake smiled, the hint of sadness visible in his eyes.

"i'm honestly fine. i'm a bit overwhelmed by the news, but i-" he took a deep breath, "i think i should calm myself down. letting my emotions take over me was the reason why jay left in the first place, so i don't want to drive him away again."

well, that sounds sad as fuck.

jungwon decided to stare at his iced tea instead. seeing jake feels like he's always being reminded of the stupid decision that he did a long time ago. now i feel shitty.

"jay left because of the internship, so don't blame yourself over something that you had no control over." he sighed. "i'm sure he wants to see you too."

the older glanced at him. "i could only hope, won. because it'll wreck me if he doesn't want me in his life anymore."
