The early mornings felt colder now as the Summer in the Valley went away almost at the same time as I did.
Skylar, Dawson, and I unenthusiastically packed our bags before throwing them into the car truck as thoughts of my past arrival popped into my head, making me sadder.
Yesterday's beautiful night made it even more difficult for me to leave. But the thing that made it almost impossible to put the Valley behind was Eli's face when we said our final goodbyes.
Just like I thought, neither of us confessed anything: we simply hugged with mutual tears as he kept reminding me just how much he'll miss me.
Never as much as I'll miss him.
Robby joined us as soon as we woke up to say goodbye. Even though Robby belonged back home with us, he made the smart choice to stay with Mr.LaRusso.
ELI'S P.O.V :
"She's leaving now," Miguel cleared his voice from the other side of the phone as I only looked at my bedroom celling, too numb to do anything.
"I know," I sighed with a whisper, glued to my bed as if I had a hundred pound weight laying on my chest.
I kept wondering how I lived my life before she walked into it.
"Of course he's there," I heard Miguel groan.
"What?"
Y/N'S P.O.V:
"Y/n," Robby half yelled from across the parking lot as he approached me.
I turned my attention to him with a soft smile as I packed my final bag into the small red car, "Hey,"
"Hey," He nudged my side playfully with a smirk, "Ready to go?"
"I don't think I'll ever be if I'm being honest," I half laughed with a shrug.
Robby's face instantly fell just a little, making me nod at him with a questionable expression, "What?"
"God I'm a horrible person," He ran a hand across his mouth just before looking around to see if we were alone. "Y/n I-"
I only waited for him to continue.
"I fucked up again..."
"Robby, go on," I sighed, half afraid of what he was going to say.
"I have something that belongs to you... please forgive me, you have to understand that-"
"Robby,"
Something that belongs to me?
What does he even mean?
Without any complaints, he handed me a simple sheet of lined paper that was a little bit roughed up, making me grow even more curious. "What's that,"
He shook his head, obviously disappointed in himself as I took the paper out of his hand.
"Sorry," He finally whispered before I opened it.
I grew nauseous when I saw Eli's writing accompanied with my name.
It was a letter.
My heart was beating out of my chest while silent tears caressed my cheek as I looked into Robby's sorry eyes with my hand covering my mouth in complete shock.
This was an old letter.
How come Eli didn't ask if I got it?
"Robby, what is this?"
"Y/n I-... Eli brought it to your house the night of the party and I saw him. I was jealous and mad at the world. I couldn't believe that you liked him more than me... so I kept it." He shook his head as the words spilled from his mouth, "I'm sorry,"
"I don't know what to say right now," I took a deep breath, "I need to see Eli,"
Dawson soon approached us before I could leave, "Hey, you ready?"
"I- I can't," I sat in the driver's seat of Dawson's car before staring it in full on panic mode, "I need to see Eli right now. I'll be back soon,"
And just like that. The whole world had seemed to change. I only thought of Eli as I drove away, leaving everyone confused in the parking lot.
~~~
The second I got in front of Eli's house, I literally jumped out of the car before running towards it, not wanting to waste any moment as I squeezed the letter in my nervous hand.
I panickly knocked on the door before being faced with his mom. She had a big smile and looked like she was excited to see me.
" I knew you'd come," She pulled me into a unexpected hug, squeezing me a little before letting go completely, " He's in his room,"
I then ran towards his room where I found him laying on his back on his blue bed covers, " Hey," I try to say as nonchalantly possible which made his slightly jump.
He sat up with a shocked face as a smile creeped on his pink lips, "Y/n, aren't you supposed to be gone by now?"
"Do you want me to leave that bad Moskowitz?" I say, a little out of breath from all of this running around.
"Not at all, I just-"
"I got your letter," I blurted out before he could finish his sentence, making his face drop instantly, "I only got it now,"
"What do you mean now?" he shook his head confusingly as I sat next to him on the same bed we used to cuddle and sleep in, "I gave it to you a long time ago y/n,"
"That's the thing though, you didn't gave it to me," I smile softly at the whole situation, making eye contact with the boy that loved me and the one that I loved, "You gave it to Robby who was convinced that he loved me and was completely jealous of you,"
"Am stupid, am I?" He half laughed before laying his head delicately on my shoulder, "So... You've read it?"
"Yeah," there was a comfortable silence floating in the room, "I love you too, Eli,"
He then looked at me with the shiniest blue eyes I've ever seen, making me melt all over again before he flashed a excited, childish smile.
"You love me," He whispered like an affirmation.
"I love you," I laugh at how good it felt getting it off my chest.
"I love you," He cupped my cheeks before kissing me like the first time again.
Except this time, it felt different. It felt happier, it felt like a breath of relief, it felt like being a child again. We loved each other and that was the only thing the mattered.
As his lips softly danced with mine and his hands caressed my cheeks, I could feel him smile into the kiss and I couldn't help but to do the same.
I wanted to stay right here forever, but after a while Eli pulled away, making me laugh at the sight of his flushed face matching his redder lips, "Eli?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't think I can bring myself to leave," I sighed.
He looked at me with those puppy eyes again. "Then don't,"
~~~
"Am staying."
"What?" Dawson asked with a confused face as I got out his car with Eli on my side.
"Am staying here with uncle," I shrug, "I can't leave," I then looked at Eli with a smile which he returned quickly.
Skylar looked so happy for me, like she read my mind while she was holding my brother's hand.
Dawson smiled at us, "Are you sure?"
"100%"
"Take care of her," Dawson got serious when he began to talk to Eli, "Don't let anyone hurt her,"
"Dawson," I groaned with my arms crossed.
"I will, I promise," Eli nodded to my brother seriously, ignoring my annoyed self.
For the first time, I feel a genuine and mutual respect between them, making me happier than I already was.
~~~
"Bye little duckling," Dawson squeezed me tighter into his arms as Robby and Skylar got into his car since they already said their goodbyes, "Don't have too much fun,"
I roll my eyes at my brother's wink as he got into the car.
This day felt bittersweet; Skylar and Dawson were leaving me, but I got my relationship with Eli back and I didn't regret my decision.
I felt Eli's pinky intertwined with mine making me look up to him, noticing that he was already staring at me.
"Me and you forever," We both smiled at his comment.
"Forever,"
