You bow down in front of your partner in crime, confessing everything you held in for too long

"[y/n]..." they sigh

You close your eyes, keeping your posture, awaiting for a answer

"I'm sorry but we have to focus on our work, it's dangerous"

Your heart shattered, how can a few words be this hurtful?

"I'm sorry [y/n]" they said as they clench their fists

You look up and were met with their icy orbs

"i-, I understand," you said, trying to resist the urge to break down and cry to your heart's content

They stared down at you with sympathy in their eyes before leaving you, standing there all alone

You stare at the ground, as they turned to a blob in the distance you fell to your knees and cried, it was silly but you had to let it out

You frown at the memory that replayed in your mind

You were at your office desk, packing some items that was dearly to your years of work and devotion

"[y-y/n] what are doing!?!" you heard the monotone voice ring through your ears

You look up and see Levi, your partner in crime as you called It, your partner in crime that you somehow developed a massive crush on as well

You stared and smile softly

"I'm leaving, after this case" you said after a long pause

Levi paused for a moment, his eyes widening and glossing at the same time

"u-um very well then" Levi straightened his self up, adjusting his handkerchief

" i think we are meant to meet Erwin now" Levi said as he turned around

You frown at no heartful speech, it had been about 8 years now, since you had been put together

You lightly place your things down and catch up to Levi

" I hope this will be a long case" you comment

Levi nods, no words exchanged

" it will mean we have more time together" you exchanged a wide smile

Levi stopped, making you mimic his actions

"Something wrong?" you ask confused at the sudden decision

"why are you leaving?" Levi trailed off

You sigh, " I have been here long enough, i want a fresh start, maybe move countries...i want a...family" you explained truthfully

Levi gripped his knuckles, making them appear to have frostbite

"leaving for that? personal reasons? the people need you, your the most skilled detective and you want to throw all these years of hard work away!" Levi yelled to you frustrated

You were shocked at his tone, he was yelling at you

Didn't you have the right to do all this stuff?

Why was he so against it?

You kept your mouth shut and walked past Levi, not waiting for any further words, you wanted to leave, heck even your crush wasn't even interested in you leaving so what was the point after all?

" I want you to investigate this address, they found a decaying body, traces found there is a murder, i want to find them" Erwin ordered

You nod as you sat next to Levi who clearly was not interested

"make it your best, this is your last case [y/n]" Erwin smiled warmly at you

You smiled and thanked him

Erwin stared at Levi and frowned

"you know you can say you miss her" Erwin encouraged

all was earned was a' tch ' and you smiled and stood up and signalled to the stoic man to follow you to the crime scene

" the body had it's nails removed" the police officer on the scene reported

"gender?" Levi squatted down to observe the small details

"um, well reports say male" the police sheepishly replied

"what do you think? accident...suicide? murder?" you asked the obvious

"murder" Levi sighed

"perhaps family member... work member? or a stranger did this?" you asked the police officer

"stranger not likely, no relatives so likely work" the police officer observed the files closely

You nodded and thanked the officer for his work

You looked at Levi who was observing the place with his gloves

You stared at the camera and shook Levi

"we should check the cameras" you pointed

Levi rose a brow

"why would they be cameras in a home...that's an unusual case" Levi sighed

"very odd" you commented

Levi placed down the piece of evidence and signalled you to follow for the footage and you agreed

" so if I follow his camera footage and the street footage it leads up to this grocery store, and his face is completely masked perhaps we can meet the shop owner and ask about him as he disappears from there" you pointed at the computer monitor

Levi nods

" you okay? You don't...usually are this obedient" you teased, trying to enlighten the mood

Levi clicked his tongue in dismay

" let's go" he called coldly as he picked up his coat on the chair and walked out the room

You sighed, this is not how you wanted your last case to be, especially one with your massive crush

" sorry but we need to ask you a few questions about a few days ago" Levi said to the old lady, showing his badge

The old lady nodded

"how about I fetch you some lunch, you two sure look hungry! my treat for all your work" she commented

You were about to object but Levi stopped you

"sure, where ma'am?" he asked

You were more than surprised, Levi would always decline the offer, well all the years you worked with him he did

So there you were, waiting for the food for lunch with the awkward silence among you and Levi

" I still can't believe why you did this" you scoffed crossing your arms

"to stall time" Levi said like it was obvious

You only huffed in response, eyes glued at the entrance of the convenience store

A hooded guy then entered the shop which caught your eye

"wait Levi, isn't he-"

Levi nodded as well as he caught on to your thoughts

"it has to be him"

"excuse me sir-" you call out

The hooded figure glanced at you and made a ran for it, You and Levi stood up and ran after him

"shit" you curse as you ran and he jumped in a car

You and Levi ran to your vehicle, forgetting about the lady and sped after the car that hopelessly wouldn't give up

The guy seemed to sprint in an alleyway that seemed to be a maze and you and Levi nodded to split up

You went in the left and keep running, calling at your headpiece that up always keep on at work for units to come to the area

You reach the end and see the hooded guy again and ran up to him

He turns around and blocks you and quickly pulls out a knife and you stare at it and kick it off

The guy snickers and falls down to grab it but you step on his wrist, making him squirm in pain

Suddenly a hand covers your mouth and pulls you back

You realise he wasn't alone and you kick the guy behind you

The guy falls down and the guy with the knife attacks you but you block it barely, using all your strength

the other guy jumps to attack you but someone kicks him which you realise was Levi

You kick the guy and pin him to the ground, face first and handcuff him with all your might

You stand up and see Levi doing the same action already

Suddenly your vision becomes blurry and you glance at your wrist as saw a nasty cut that seemed very deep

You then glance at Levi, mumbling his name before falling slowly

" what is it- [Y/N]!" Levi yelled as he breaks your fall and holds you quickly

Your eyes flutter and it was too much and you began to drift...

You wake up in an extremely white room and cover your eyes

"[y/n], [y/n]! your awake thank god" you heard shifting on your ' bed '

You vaguely remember the tone until it cups your hand

You squirm a little as you try to sit up and see the person

"[y/n]- don't your not healed-" the person tried to support you

You properly sit up and see Levi, eyes-locking contract for what felt like forever

Levi frowns and hugs you tightly which caught you off guard

"l-levi the case-" you manage to murmur

" don't worry about that...you reckless brat..." he cursed under his breath happily

You couldn't help but feel tears at the brim of your eyes at the mention of your name

Levi stops hugging you and chuckles at your expression

" tch...it wasn't the last perfect mission after all" he teases

You raise a brow

" look, [y/n], i'm going to miss you... a lot" Levi confessed

A shocked expression plastered on your face

"what-"

"I like you [y/n], I'm sorry for what I said to you before, I was blinded by work, you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone" Levi gave a loving speech

For the first time, you smiled brightly in a long time

With all your strength you grabbed Levi's face and kissed it, not caring about anything else

His expression was tense at first but he gives in after time and savours your lips, locking a sweet lasting kiss, arms snaking around your waist

After you parted you rest your foreheads on one another

"maybe I will stay just a little longer with you...brat" you mocked making Levi smile for the first time in a long time.

Levi smiled, " good, I don't know what I would do without my partner in crime after all"
