As the gates open to your arrival everyone riding their horses held the same expression

Emotionless, traumatized and depressed

The recent expedition was a nightmare, more than that, it became reality making the situation even worse, so many casualties and death hovering everywhere you turned in that hell son of a  place...

The last of the few that watched your comrades die like ants in a blink of an eye

You were in Levi's squad and only you, he and Eren managed to survive together and you blamed yourself for not staying with the others and aiding them, maybe if you turned back at the last second, you wouldn't have seen it in time

Everyone was cheering oblivious, clueless,  you were back as you rode your horse into familiar streets

Your position was next to Levi's as you rode alongside him and you looked down in embarrassment and a burden to everyone, you couldn't stand proudly

" h-hey Captain Levi! My daughter was in your squad, I'm Petra's father before she sees me I wanted to talk to you" a dad come to Levi

There was silence as you listened quietly

" she sent me this letter, she mentioned that you respected her abilities for her to join your squad! She was willing to devote herself to you" he continued being clueless

You grip your knuckles hearing that

Petra was your friend, your closest friend and your only companion against the world...

You listened intently as you glance at Levi's traumatized face

" I think it's too early for her to marry... she's still young with so much to experience..."

You grip your knuckles turning whiter, seriously? after her death? you thought forgetting the fact he was clueless like the others

" that enough, Mr Ral, can you please excuse us, your daughter is probably waiting at the back..." you lie, holding tears in, Levi turned to you slightly in shock and nodded to thank you

" a-ah of course, we will talk later caption" Mr Ral stop walking and waited for his missing daughter

You sigh and turn Levi with the same expression

" you know... it wasn't your fault..." you began to comfort him with words

" it was mine" you finish before silence returned

You hear the crowd yelling Erwin's name and all you did in that situation was desperately cover your ears from all the sounds

You sat in the mess hall, only a few showed up, the rest was probably still mourning their friend's death, you were playing with your food, you weren't hungry at all

Who are you kidding you were one of them thinking of a friends death...

You look at your other friends who didn't share a word and were just happy to be alive

You frown and excuse yourself, the tension was so uncomfortable and you needed to escape

" I will get going, have fun..." you tried to say with a smile but failed

They waved without looking at you, just looking blankly at the table and you slowly walked to your room

Revising on what happened through the days you couldn't stop shaking

You then stumble upon a room and hear muffled crying?

You press your ear against the door and hear a familiar tone crying

It couldn't be...you thought

Levi? You thought

You decided to knock and make sure he was alright, he was your superior and you had a crush on him so you were concerned and after doing so slightly, you hear a deepen soft voice

" what?" It harshly echoed

You gulp and before you can speak the door swung open and you saw Levi with red puffy eyes like he had been crying so much

" oh [f/n] what do you want?" Levi let you in his neat room after trying to wipe his tears so you wouldn't see his current state

" were you crying captain?"You question softly concerned

" it's none of your concern" Levi tried not to sob

"oh...okay..I will leave-"

"no, wait- stay with me" Levi changes his mind, grabbing your wrist last second

"well then what's wrong, you can tell me " you came to his aid as he sat on his bed

"it's just everyone keeps dying because of me, they don't deserve it" Levi fell in your arms on the bed

You pat his back as he cries on your shoulder

"don't say that, your the most talented being in humanity, degree with me all you want but everyone knows that "you said softly

You decided to stroke his hair softly as he slowly hugs you

"my mother use to do that" Levi said in between sniffles

"sorry you might not-"

"no I like it" Levi said as you cradled him in your arms

"you know, you are the only person I can express these emotions too" Levi spoke softly as he hugged your waist

"well ain't I lucky for that? thank you for the opportunity" you say trying to smile at Levi as he calms down after minutes in your arms

Suddenly you see Levi snore quietly and realise you put him to sleep and smile as you lay him down softly

You stroke his hair once more before drifting off to sleep by his side

The next morning rose through the window and you realised you slept with Levi the whole night and smiled

As you tried to get off the bed, you felt two strong arms wrap around you, pulling you back in the bed

Levi tightened his grip around you as you tried to slightly get out of his tightened grip

You smiled, "good morning, feeling better?" you ask quietly laying back next to him

Levi nods sweetly as he buried his face in your chest

"your special, please don't die and leave me alone" Levi begged as you tried not to sob after yesterday's tragic tale

You soften your expression more than it already was, trying not to cry as those words hit you

"I will, Captain" you said, patting his back softly

"it's Levi" he called and you nodded as a 'yes Levi' awkwardly

"anyway...thank you...

I love you [y/n]" Levi confessed to you

Your heart bumped so fast as those words registered to your ears

Did he just confess to you? you thought as he faces you properly

You gulp and return his feelings coming back to your senses after staring into his eyes for a while

"I love you too, Levi" you murmur as you both lean into a sweet kiss

Levi stroked your hair in the kiss

"thank you for comforting me, I needed it, now its time to face the world again" Levi said in a sadistic tone as you parted from the alluring kiss

"well at least we can deal with it together" you say hugging Levi tightly

"yeah, let's do it together" Levi finished your phrase
