Today, was a big day. Not just you, but both of you. Akutagawa finally mustered up all his courage and asked you out. He wanted to take you to a summer festival in Yokohama. Of course, you accepted because you grew fond of him over the past few years working at Port Mafia.
You stared at yourself in the mirror. You were wearing an expensive (Fav Color) yukata with gorgeous flower designs all over with (Second fav color) obi, wrapping your waist. Your hair was up in a cute ponytail with a big flower pin on the side of your head with a few beads dangling down from it. There was the sudden ring of your doorbell, making you jump up in surprise.
'Akutagawa kun is here...' you looked back at yourself in the mirror again and gave a little fist bump with a proud smile spread across your face. 'Let's go have fun!'
You opened the door to see cute blushing Akutagawa at the doorway. He was also wearing a yukata as well.
"H-Hey, (F/N)." Akutagawa greeted with a mumble. "You look really pretty..."
A small blush crept up to your cheeks. "Thanks, Akutagawa kun. You look handsome too."
He suddenly took your hand and led you to the summer festival which wasn't that far. Akutagawa has never been on a date before and before he came to pick you up, he obtained some dating tips and advice from his senpai, Chuuya. He took out a piece of paper that was in his jacket pocket and read it silently to himself.
"Always hold her hand and look at her when she's talking..."
"Did you say something, Akutagawa kun?" you looked up at the boy.
"N-No! Nothing..."
You giggled a little. Akutagawa must have been more nervous than you, you thought. "Ok, we're here! Where should we go first? Food maybe?"
Akutagawa looked around the park which was filled with booths and the air smelled like yakisoba and chocolate covered bananas. Most of the people were wearing yukatas. The loud and deep thumping sounds of the taiko (drums) reverberated through the city.
"Sure."
"Then can we get yakisobas first and then cotton candy??" your eyes suddenly sparkled in excitement, making you suddenly hold onto Akutagawa's arm. He flinched by the contact a little bit, but remained his cool. He was so nervous around you today.
"Yeah." he mumbled again as the two of you headed to the two booths. You and Akutagawa sat down on the picnic bench as he watched you gobble down the noodles. He was certainly surprised you would eat yakisobas in an inhuman speed and demand for seconds. Of course, he would pay for it and he will continue to pay for anything you want.
"Are you sure you don't want yakisoba, Akutagawa kun? You can have some of mine, if you want." you gestured the plastic box towards him, handing over the chopsticks.
"No thanks. I get full when I'm watching you eat." he replied. You grinned, showing your teeth that was covered in nori flakes. For the first time tonight, Akutagawa couldn't help but to chuckle on how adorable you looked. Your cheeks bloomed as you saw him smile. You loved his smile. You loved his laugh. You never thought that he could smile and laugh like that and you found yourself falling deeply in love with him more.
Akutagawa got you the (pink or blue) cotton candy and you insisted he should at least eat. You would occasionally hold it up to his mouth and he would chomp on it and then you would gobble the whole thing. Akutagawa soon realized there was a piece of cotton candy stuck on the corner of your lips and he would wipe it off with his thumb and then eat it.
As you were happily munching on the candy, Akutagawa glanced at a few people and saw that you were being stared at by a group of boys.
"Woah, woah! Look at that chick! She's so cute!" one said.
Another one nudged someone in the ribs. "Hey, hey. I dare you to go talk to her."
Akutagawa let out a low growl as he felt his Rashomon protruding out of his body. "Kill them... Kill them... Kill them for staring at (F/N)... She's mine."
"Geh! Is that her boyfriend?"
"He looks scary as hell!"
"And he's glaring at us! Let's run away!" the boys threw their hands up and screamed as they vanished in the crowds. Akutagawa sighed in relief and looked back down at you to see you still eating the cotton candy happily. He smiled to himself. Just by looking at your sweet and bright smile, his day would instantly make it ten times better.
"Let's go to this booth!" you pulled Akutagawa through the crowds to finally reach to the booth you wanted to play. It was the fish catching booth.
"Do you want to play?" the man in the booth asked. You nod as he hands you the scooper with a flimsy paper and a cup with water. You glanced around the goldfishes in front of you and found the one you wanted. You carefully slipped the scooper under the fish with the cup near you and when you were about to scoop it, the paper ripped, letting the fish escape.
"So close!" you whined.
"Do you want me to get some for you?" he paid some bills to the man and got a new fresh scooper.
"Eh, you know how to get these?" you asked and your eyes immediately widened when you say Akutagawa scooping the goldfishes with ease as they go flying into the cup.
"W-Woah! That was amazing! You're amazing!!" you exclaimed as Akutagawa handed you a bag with two goldfishes swimming in it. He caught a lot more than that, but too many goldfishes would be too much so he only gave you two.
He blushed slightly. "Thanks... It took some practice."
"What do you mean? Don't tell me you went home and practiced it, right?"
"I said that there's going to be a likely chance that you'll want some of these so I asked Chuuya san for help and he suggested that I should practice. Believe it or not, Chuuya san is really good as well."
'There's so many things I didn't know about Akutagawa kun and Chuuya san!!' you thought.
"Thank you so much, Akutagawa kun. I'll treasure this forever." you said.
The two of you walked further until you saw a huge temple and on the first floor, they were selling charms. You walked in the temple and glanced at the cute and beautiful jewelries and omamori charms.
"Hello, what would you like today?" a lady in a yukata asked.
"I was thinking which of these omamori charms would be perfect for me."
"Is that young man with you tonight?" the lady gestured towards Akutagawa who jumped up in surprise.
"Yes." he said.
"Then I think you two should have these!" the lady handed Akutagawa a light blue omamori charm and handed you a light pink one.
"These are En Musubi Omamori charms. It's a good luck charm with relationships and love. It's perfect for you two!" the lady smiled. You blushed a little, thinking of the relationship and love between you and Akutagawa.
"We'll take it." Akutagawa said without question. He looked down at you. "It's ok with you, right?"
"Sure. I'd love to have one." you agreed. The two of you walked out the temple and back to the festival. You admired at the charm, thinking and hoping that the two of you would end up well, without too many fighting and arguments.
"Did you have a fun time tonight, Akutagawa kun?" you asked, as the two of you were heading home.
"Yeah."
"Thanks for everything. I really had a fun time with you too." you stopped at the doorway at your house. "Well, I guess this is goodbye till tomorrow! Goodni-"
You felt a tight grip on your wrist as Akutagawa tugged you and before you knew it, his soft lips paired with yours into a sweet kiss. He pulled you away but immediately pushed you into a tight hug. Your cheeks were burning as well as his. He held you tighter than ever, like you were about to take a flight to a far away land and never see him again. His hugs were always like this. He didn't like getting hugs, but if he were to hug you, it would always be tight and passionate. He kissed on top of your dome and whispered.
"I love you."
He finally let you go and you saw his cheeks tinted with pink. You couldn't help to give him a big smile. "I love you too."
He waved you goodbye as you watched him walk away until you no longer could see him anymore. Once you were dressed in your pajamas, you took out a small fish tank you had as a kid and filled it with water and slowly plopped the two goldfishes in.
You pointed to the orange and white one and the black and white goldfish. "I'm going to name you (F/N) and you Akutagawa." you grinned as you put the love charm beside the fish tank and fell asleep peacefully.

I love summer festivals in Japan. Since I used to live in Japan as a kid, I would always wear a yukata and eat all the yakisobas I want. They're so good, I swear
And of course, I would get some goldfishes too ;)
If you don't really know what the Omamori charms are, they basically good luck charms and they're all different types of Omamori charms.
I do have one but it just says, 'Omamori charm' lol.
You can look it up to see what it looks like but it's a little packet like thing and inside it is charm or an amulet that is a specific good luck charm of luck or protection from the Shinto Gods or the Budda figure.
Hope you learned something new today~ ・^âż^・
