"Where is Malsagov?" Nikolai was asking everyone who was running away from the hall. He had lost track of her when everyone started running in hordes.
The last time she had seen her was with Alina but Alina was also nowhere to be found, he hoped she was with her. And not anywhere near those monsters.
And then he was pushed back into the ground by a blighting force, his breath left his lungs as he fell. Nikolai covered his eyes with his arm, the light coming from everywhere it was was too strong.
When it stopped, he realized it was summoned light which meant Alina, that meant -he hoped- his sun. He ran as fast as he could to where he thought the light had come from, strangely it was leading him back to the hall.
Time slowed as he finally arrived, there was a crumbled figure in the center of the hall, two small mountains of black ash at either sides of her.
He recognized who the unmoving figure was instantly, instead of asking questions he ran as fast as he could to her and kneeled besides her.
Instantly as he turned her around he noticed the pool of blood that was hidden from him.
"No,no,no..." he kept muttering as he pulled her into his arms, he tried to stop the blood coming from her stomach with his hand but there was too much and the wound too big, her sunburnt skin was pale and the dress he had gifted her just hours prior was now covered in red. "A healer!"
"A healer, please!" He shouted as he stood up with her in his arms and ran where the people had taken refuge.
The prince finally arrived uncaring of the way his legs burned in exhaustion. Everyone cried around him, many people where hurt and a lot where dead.
But he only cared about the sun in his arms.
He finally found a cot where to place her and laid her there as gently as he could, he kissed her forehead. "Hold on just a bit more" He found Tamar besides Adrik who had also gotten seriously injured in the fight. "Tamar! Please take care of her, yell if she stops breathing"
He ran around the refuge trying to find an unoccupied healer. As he ran around almost crazed Alina stopped him.
"Nikolai! Have you seen Mal?"
"I'm sorry Alina-I -I don't know" he stuttered as he looked around his eyes never focusing on anything. "I need a healer, have you seen one?"
"Why are you hurt?" Alina worried voice asked.
"No, I'm not hurt! Malsagov she's bad she needs help, please" he almost cried to the woman.
"I can help" In his anguish he had not noticed the red head and the older women besides Alina.
"Please come" he made sure the woman was following him before rapidly going back to his woman. He was halfway there when he heard Tamar.
"Nikolai! She isn't breathing!" Tamar shouted and he didn't waste any second to get to her side. He felt to under her nose and she indeed was not breathing, he choked her pulse it was almost non existent.
"Please, help her" he said with watery voice at the red head who instantly went to her and started the healing. Nikolai held the blonde woman's hand in his, tightly, afraid to let go.
"I-I don't know what is happening" the scarred woman muttered, and he looked down at her wound. The healers movements where not doing anything to her, the wound was still as big as it was before. But the healer in his boat managed to cure her ankle, what was happening?
It was all his fault, Nikolai thought. If he hadn't dragged her back here, into the face of danger. She would still be happy in the sea, not agonizing in a dirty cot.
He didn't know what he would do if the healer couldn't help her. She would die and he would be alone once again. His world would stop because how could a world survive without it's sun?
"Move aside, girl" the older woman spoke, she had been watching the red head and Malsagov with curious eyes. "Bring me a torch"
"What?" The red head said.
"What are you doing?" Nikolai asked scared. His friends had also huddled around the pirate everyone staring in anticipation.
"Just do it" the grey haired woman grabbed a strand of the unconscious woman's hair and squinted her eyes to see it closer. The healer came back with a torch and gave it to her. Instantly the woman leaned in and opened her eyes, to revealed her golden irises. "I knew it. This girl doesn't need a healer, she needs blood,. Alina, come here"
The confused half shu girl walked to Baghra and this one grabbed a knife from near her and without anyone expecting it she made a cut in the girl's palm. And put the dripping blood into the dying girls mouth.
Everyone was confused on what that would do, but Nikolai stared at the way her wound started to heal and then the blonde woman gasped.
She breathed heavily and Nikolai thanked all the gods for whatever the older woman did to save her, she looked around with unfocused eyes before her eyes rolled back and she was out again.
"What just happened?" Alina asked with wide eyes as she held her bleeding hand.
"It's like you kids never read" Baghra rolled her eyes and looked at the asleep girl. "Has any of you heard of Gaeliar"
Almost everyone held their hands up except for Alina who only stared clueless.
"Aren't all Gaeliars dead, though?" Tamar asked with a frown.
"For hundreds years" Nadia replied also confused.
"They were also, Sun summoners, they do not age, there was a reason the family was as big as it was, they discovered that with the blood of another one like them they could be cured from any injury, so, they had a bunch of children every time, unfortunately they were all murdered or so I thought" Baghra said looking at the golden girl.
Nikolai's thoughts all clicked into place at Baghra's words. His sun, had actually been a sun, who she was was always in front of him, the sun on her black flags, the book on Gaeliar that night in her rooms, her golden eyes he always found curious and she was the one that made the light that killed those monsters.
"How do you know all of this?" Alina asked. while everyone stared at the blonde with wide eyes.
"I was friends with her mother"

The light of the sun hit Deyanira's eyes, she moved and groaned slightly at the fado g pain in her stomach, she rubbed her eyes to get rid of the sleep and looked down to found a scar on her stomach. It didn't hurt anymore it only stung lightly when she moved.
The woman looked at her side and a small smile pulled at her lips when she saw a deeply sleep Nikolai sitting in a chair besides her. His hand still holding hers lazily.
She tightened her hold on his hand and that seemed to be enough for waking him up. His eyes widen as he saw that she was awake.
"My sun, you are awake" he kissed her hand and she saw that his eyes were red like he had been crying.
"Why are your eyes red?" Her voice was scratchy as she asked.
"Do not worry about that" he shook his head and smiled at her. "I'm so glad, you are awake, I thought you were gone and-" he put his forehead to her hand. "It was all my fault"
"Don't say that"
"But it was, if I hadn't force you to come here-"
"You didn't force me, Nikolai. If I had wanted to leave I would have, but I wanted to stay" she sat up with her remaining force. "It's not your fault"
He left a lingering kiss on her forehead before staying silent for a few seconds.
"Baghra...she told us what you are" he said hesitantly as he saw the way her eyes widen, and her breath left. "You were dying and it was the only way to save you"
Deyanira felt trapped and she couldn't breathe. Everything that happened before she passed out came back to her. Everyone knew know what she was and know the Darkling was coming for her.
"Malsagov, breathe" he got in the bed with her and held her shoulders. She didn't notice that she was in the verge of having a panic attack until he held her. She calmed down as he pulled her into his arms and she could finally breathe him in.
"My name is not Malsagov, it's Deyanira" she muttered looking up at him. And he smiled pulling her golden hair behind her ear and putting her hand behind her neck caressing the side of her face with shiny eyes.
"Deyanira" he said her real name. "Somehow, it is even more beautiful"
He leaned in staring into his favorite pair of eyes, he was about to kiss her when he remembered something.
"Oh, wait" he got off from the bed leaving a co fused Deyanira waiting. He grabbed his compass from the table and went back to his place in front of her. "Here, I think this belongs to you"
"But this is your compass?" Deyanira frowned, maybe he hit his head?
"Not really, when I was younger I was on some beach and I found it between two rocks, it was full of sand, but as soon as I washed it, it shined as bright as your eyes" he said as he opened the the compass, he pointed to some initials on the inside of the cover.
D.G
"My compass..." she breathed and her eyes filled with tears. "I lost it, when I escaped"
"If this isn't enough to prove that we were meant to meet? then I don't know what will" he grinned.
"you never stop do you?" She rolled her eyes.
"Impossible" he shook his head.
"Don't you mean improbable" she rose a brow and his smile seemed to get bigger.
"I love it when you quote me" he laughed. "Though, I don't know why, but it has never worked for me, it doesn't point north" he shrugged and she smiled secretly.
"Because it doesn't point north, it points to home"
