Kuroo and S/n, along with their parents, arrived in Miyagi earlier than Kenma and Y/n, who had decided to arrive later that afternoon.
Y/n felt a bit nervous, she hasn't seen her mom's side of the family for god knows how many years.
Though she felt relief knowing that someone would be there with her.
She had decided to dress casually for comfort, considering that the ride was quite a distance. Though she did pack some more formal clothes for the gathering.
Kenma kept his hands on the steering wheel as he focused on driving.
Y/n stared at the window while listening to the playlist she had made just for this trip.
"Hey, Kenma." she unconsciously calls his name.
Kenma had an urge to look at her, but held it back due to safety purposes considering he was driving.
He kept his eyes on the road before answering.
"Yes?" he asks calmly.
"Thanks." Y/n says, her fingertips caressing her own nails.
Kenma sighed loudly and continued to drive.
"You need to stop thanking me." Kenma said to her with a small frown.
They chatted lightly about video games throughout the whole trip until they finally arrived in Miyagi and rented an inn, not wanting to stay at their family's house to avoid her parents.
Their house in Miyagi was quite big, but considering most of their family had been living the house ever since, it was quite packed, with only two rooms being empty and available for guests.
Kenma parked his car in front of the inn, taking the backpack from his backseat that was full of his clothes.
And another bag with some of his games.
Y/n grabbed her stuff and followed the boy inside the inn. Kenma was pleased with the place they had found.
He would've been fine staying at Y/n's family's manor but he knew that she wasn't ready to face her parents.
But she'll have to eventually, and Kenma wasn't sure what will happen, which made him even more concerned about her well-being.
Why does it feel like you're punishing yourself for nothing, Y/n?
Kenma admired Y/n with sadness in his eyes.
The two went off to sleep at around 9 pm, Kenma tweeting to let his fans know that he was alive and will continue the streams next week.
...
Y/n wore a loose, new, dress of her favorite color made of comfortable fabric while Kenma dressed up wearing a suit and tie, abandoning his usual hoodie.
The both of them got into his car, driving to the L/n's manor silently.
Kenma could feel the nervousness radiating off the girl's body.
"You'll be fine." Kenma muttered silently though Y/n still heard it.
And she couldn't disagree more.
They arrived at the L/n's manor and was welcomed by her little cousins playing tag on the front yard.
Most of her family was gathered inside the dining room, but some were still chatting in the front yard while sitting at the newly painted chairs.
A lot had changed ever since they left for Tokyo.
Kenma felt just as nervous since he didn't really have a reason to be there.
Kuroo was gonna announce it to them eventually in Tokyo anyways.
Y/n greeted her relatives, bowing while Kenma followed her and did the same.
They walked inside the house and made their way into the dining room to see most of her relatives standing there and talking happily, some boasts about their kids being heard from three of her aunts.
Y/n didn't exactly get along with her aunts as well as she gets along with some of their kids.
Before she even got a chance to introduce her friend to her family, she was quickly interrupted by her cousin who almost knocked Kenma over due to excitement.
"Wah! You're that awesome streamer Kodzuken, right?!?" one of her younger cousins who was still in highschool asked in excitement and she could've sworn she saw him bounce up and down.
As much as Kenma was flattered to be called awesome, he didn't really like how Y/n's cousin was practically glued to him.
Well...he was also uncomfortable because the boy was taller than him.
"Y-yes." Kenma replied, not wanting to be rude, though he was annoyed considering Y/n's cousin reminded him of a certain someone.
Lev.
Time went by as they waited for the rest of their guests to arrive, with her cousin still discussing about video games with Kenma.
"Oi." a deep and embarassed voice came from behind them while her cousin gets smacked in the head.
"If it isn't my favorite niece." he approached Y/n, putting his hands on her shoulder and proceeding to shake her, which shocked Y/n.
"U-Uka-" she stuttered, remembering about her annoying uncle who still treated her like a twelve year old kid.
"Oi! I'm your uncle and you call me so disrespectfully??" Keishin asked her jokingly as he smacks the back of her head less rougher than he did with her younger cousin.
Keishin Ukai wasn't exactly "uncle" material because he treated most of his nieces and nephews like they were just cousins, but he was always chosen as the favorite uncle by most of her cousins due to his sense of humor and because he let them eat a lot of ice cream as a kid.
And yes, he was the one who sent the sh*t ton amount of birthday cards and christmas cards Y/n always recieved.
She kept telling him to stop but she did actually keep most of the cards in a small box.
His eyes wandered towards the pudding-haired boy sitting next to one of his obnoxiously loud nephews, his eyes sparked in curiosity as to why Nekoma's setter was there.
"Aren't you Nekoma's setter back in highschool?" he asked as he scratched the side of his forehead, still wondering.
Kenma turned to his direction and recognized him, responding with a small nod.
Her uncle's eyes widened in realization, well it was more of an assumption.
"Are you two dati-" he tried to ask but was immediately cut off by Y/n who didn't want to be embarassed by his uncle's accusations, not that being Kenma's girlfriend was an embarassment.
She just didn't want her family to ask her a load of questions that will make both her and Kenma uncomfortable.
When the rest of the guests arrived, they sat down at the dining room.
The kids table was a little further than the adults'. Though her cousin who was in his 1st year of highschool was still forced to sit with the ten year olds.
At this rate, the whole table was wondering about what the special occasion was that they had to gather back here in Miyagi.
It was now time for dessert and the couple had decided to stand up.
"Are you ready?" Kuroo whispered to S/n who just nodded in excitement.
The two of them took a deep breath and exhaled with a smile while looking down at their feet nervously.
The whole table's attention was turned to them, even the kids were curious as to what they were gonna announce.
"Well... we..." S/n forgot what she was about to say due to nervousness, she didn't know how they were gonna react but hopefully they react positively.
"Well I proposed to her and..." Kuroo paused and glanced to his side awkwardly as the guests put on a lovely smile.
"We're engaged!" S/n shouted in excitement.
The whole table was filled with excitement because of the announcement.
Kenma looked at Y/n, who was wearing a not very visible smile as she continued to eat her dessert.
He wanted to ask if she was okay, but now isn't really the perfect time.
"Congratulations!" their cousins greeted.
"Imagine the beautiful little babies you'll have!" her aunties teased which caused Y/n to giggle quietly, well not as quiet as she thought.
Some looked at her and the rest was still congratulating the couple.
"How about you, Y/n?" one of her aunties begins to put her in the VERY VERY HOT SEAT.
"Yeah, have you ever even had a boyfriend?" her cousin asks while she scoffs silently at him in her head.
"Come to think of it, you've never introduced anyone to your parents, have you?" another one of her aunts who wore bright red lipstick said as she puts down her wine glass.
Well... I did but here we are.
"Have you ever even gone to a date?" the table flooded her with questions.
"Hm, yeah I have actually." she answered casually.
"Oh yeah?" her cousin which was closest to her sister asked with mockery in her voice.
"When was the last time?" she continued to ask.
"Two weeks ago." Y/n answered as she stuffed her mouth full of cake.
"So you do have a boyfriend?" another question came up from god knows who's mouth.
"One date doesn't mean we're official. Though, some assume and end up breaking their own heart." she said while remembering one guy she went out with who immediately wanted to make it official.
"Damn, player." her closest cousins smacked her back teasingly.
Kenma took a bite of his pie silently, with no interest in the conversation.
"Would you like me to set you up with someone? I went to university with this one really nice guy!" another one of her cousins suggested.
"Well, I'm afraid that wont be necessary..." her cousins looked awkwardly to the boy next to her.
Kenma jolted as he realized he was now involved in the conversation.
He turned his head in curiosity to the people who were looking at him before glancing away because he was too shy.
"So you do have a boyfriend!" Keishin shouted from across the table, getting a smack from the older Ukai for his childlike behavior when he was way past that age.
"We're not--" the both of them began to deny and explain but were quickly cut off.
"Aren't you Kodzuken?!?!" her older cousin asked, and yes, he was also into video games.
"The one and only!" a shout from the kids table being heard.
"Shut up, [Cousin's Name]!" he shouted at his sibling.
The rest of the night proceeded with her cousins congratulating her sister's relationship.
She went up the stairs and turned to the right, opening the door to her old room.
It was empty and most of her previous stuff had been removed, the bed was now gone and the only thing that remained was her old dresser and the comfortable seat to her window.
Y/n opened the curtains that was surprisingly still there and admired the view of the tree outside her window.
She had always wanted to get her sister's room instead because it had the nice view of their garden but S/n also liked it.
So she just watched her sister get something she wanted from her parents like she always did.
Must you take everything from me?
She thought as she glides her fingers along the glass covered in dust, drawing small flowers with her fingers.
"I thought I might find you here." Kuroo said from behind her.
"Hmm." she hummed blankly as she watched the cold night's breeze hit the tree.
"Don't you feel atleast a tiny bit of guilt?" Y/n began to confront him.
Kuroo's smile slowly turned into a frown as he looks at the girl who was staring out her window.
He kept quiet, not knowing what to say.
"Everytime I see your sister's face, I remember you. I remember what I did to you." Kuroo confessed.
"It still haunts me." he continued to explain.
"I still remember the kind of look you had that night." he looked down to the ground.
Guilt took over him everytime he looked at Y/n.
"Shouldn't you be ashamed of what you're doing?" she asked, tracing the edges of the pillow placed next to her.
"You're lying to her. We're lying to her." she told him blankly as she pulls the loose thread from the pillow.
He realized that she's been masking what she truly felt the whole night.
"It's my fault." Kuroo said as tears began to form in his eyes.
"It's not like you dated me for three years or anything." she said bitterly to the boy.
"Cheater."
The door behind them creaked open slowly as she says her last word.
The both of them turned their head to the door, Y/n's turning slower than Kuroo's.
And there stood S/n, with tears slowly coming down her cheeks.
Kuroo's eyes widened as she stomped towards the both of them, slapping Kuroo on his right cheek.
She looked at Y/n furiously.
Y/n stood up from her seat, looking at S/n. Her eyes were shining because of the tears she was holding back.
S/n went near her and a loud smack can be heard.
Her cheek stung from her sister's slap.
"How could you?!" S/n shouted at her as her own tears fell from her cheeks.
"I did nothing to you!" she continued to cry.
You took everything from me.
"And I find out you've been dating my b-boyfriend for three years!" she stuttered at the word.
"Says the girl who ruined our relationship in the first place." Y/n responded to her statement blankly.
Y/n's pent up anger seemed to come back to her during the moment.
"You're blaming... me?" she said as she laughs bitterly, looking at Kuroo who was speechless.
"You have the guts to blame me?!" S/n shouted in disbelief and the rest of the family was now standing outside her old bedroom's door, realizing what was happening.
Some of their cousins shot glares to
Y/n.
She felt like no matter how much she tries to explain, nobody will take her side...
So she didn't even try.
It doesn't matter what she says.
It doesn't matter what she thinks.
It doesn't matter how she feels.
It never has.
Her eyes wandered to her parents, who looked disappointed in her.
Hate visible in their eyes.
S/n turned around and ran from the bedroom to the door.
The whole family went after her, including Kuroo and Y/n was left all alone.
She heard two pairs of footsteps approaching her from behind.
"How could you do this to your sister?" her mother asks in horrid.
"You're an embarassment to us." she heard her father's voice filled with hatred.
Her whole body shivered, her tears dropping down from her cheeks to the wooden floor.
"We never raised you to be like this." her father tells her.
She turned her head towards them.
"You never raised me at all."
A slap hit her face, though she felt nothing but the pain their words had caused her.
