Quickly handing your border passes to the ticket man you both ran through watching as snow slowly fell from the sky.
"Look there's snow!" Ed exclaimed a wide smile on his face as he watched the light flurries of snow fall to the ground.
Al came up from behind gawking at the sight.
Piles of snow littered the plaza as some fell from the sky, sprinkling on the once shoveled ground.
"I feel like I haven't seen snow in forever when in reality it's only been a year or two."
A smile breaking across your face remembering your first meeting with a certain blue nosed reindeer what wasn't too good at hiding behind doorways.
"It rarely snows in the southern part of Amestris. It's been a while since we've seen this much snow. It's nice." Al answered.
"Come on!" Making way down the stairs you watched nervously as they struggled to get down the icy steps.
"Watch out!" You proclaimed as the blonde slipped on the ice. "Brother!" Al voiced after, chasing his brother's falling figure down the stairs.
Laughing you come easily walking down the frozen steps and help Ed up to his feet.
"Ugh, Ed, you're so uncoordinated." You insulted making him sit down at a nearby bench.
"Oh shut up, it was just a little slip, jeez." Rubbing his back. Al laughed at the two of you before looking up at the falling snow. "This snow is amazing, huh?"
The blonde seemed to perk up, something coming to mind. "Hey Al, do you remember that one really heavy snow way back when we were little?"
"Maybe...Oh! Yeah, I remember! We had a snowball fight."
"And we made a snowman!"
"That's fun and all but have you guys ever seen a cherry blossom tree grown on a show-ridden island?" It was a rhetorical question, a grin tugging at your lips as you crossed your arms.
The two awe at your words. "How?!"
A giggle left your closed lips. "It wasn't an actual cherry blossom but it brought a friend to tears so we let him believe it was real. 'A cure for a country's cold heart.'"
You quoted switching your gaze back to the empty plaza with a smil on your face.
The blonde starred up talking in your features in the colder toned lighting
A warming feeling took over your right hand, making you glance out of the corner of your eye, catching sight of Ed's hand lacing with yours.
"Back then I never imagined we would come this far north, it seemed impossible." Al broke the silence.
"Yeah, but here we are now."
—
Walking through the streets of North city you take a look at a nearby clock inside of one of the antique shops.
Taking note of the time you had until the train to Briggs came, so you three had some time to pass.
"So now what do we do? We still have a little bit of time until our train to Briggs takes off." You bring up, looking up and down between the two.
"Why don't you grab something to eat?" Al suggested, making you and Ed shrug in disinterest. "I don't know, not really all that hungry but, I guess we could look."
Running off making the two of you sprint after him. "Careful, you're gonna fall again!"
"Shut up!"

The next day arrived quickly and before you knew it, you were riding in the back of a cart towards the north's mountain range.
From your right Ed let out a sneeze and shivered. Wrapping your arms around him his head rested against your chest, the heat radiating off you made him sigh in relief.
"Bless you." You remarked with a laugh. "Thanks." He sniffled.
"Are you catching a cold?" Al asked. "Oh, I'm cold alright, that's Briggs for ya'."
The cart tugs to a stop making the three of you look back at the driver. "Alright, this is where I let you go, kids."
Humming in confusion you all hop off the cart and stand under a thin wood entrance way, leading to a snow covered trail through the mountain range.
"If you follow this mountain road, it'll lead you straight to fort Briggs." He explained. "Okay, thanks."
Before riding off he called out to Al. "And you in the armor."
"Uh..." Pointing to confirm he was speaking to him. "Yes, you. Is that automail?"
Al shook his head. "No."
"Oh, okay, well, you should be alright." Flicking the reins, he took off down the main road.
"What was that all about?" Ed questioned, watching him ride off. "Beats me."
"That's military land beyond the fence, so stay on the road if you want to live!" The man waved, bidding his farewell.
"Huh?" Looking on down the path that was faintly visible under the snow. "You ready?" Edward questioned grabbing your hand.
Humming you pick up your luggage and begin walking forward.
—
Far up into the mountains was hell, a harsh blizzard, whipping you and Ed around as you tried to hold onto each other, your coats, and your luggage.
Ed groaned from beside you before shouting in rage, holding his hood tightly around his face.
"I know I said the weather here changes quickly, but this is a little extreme if you ask me." He stuttered out as he shivered, involuntarily holding onto your pink furry coat.
"What do we do now? We can't even see the road!" Al proclaimed, yelling above the loud noise of the whipping wind. "Relax, we'll be fine." You chattered out.
Grabbing Ed's wrist in case he actually did manage to fly away; you know, cause he's short.
"Yeah, teacher said she was tossed out here for a whole month during her training. She survived." He shivered out.
"No way! She couldn't have lived out in this for an entire month!" Al gawked. "Sure she could, she even killed a bear!"
"The bears around here are more than fifteen feet tall, there's no way she could've killed one of them." You scoffed.
The sound of something stomping behind the three of you made you all freeze.
Inching around slowly you all look up at the towering man standing a few feet in front of you.
Screaming Ed clapped his hands together, forming a blade on his automail arm.
Twisting your staff together you all jump back as he strikes with his chainsaw like-automail, stirring up the snow.
"That's no bear!" Ed exclaimed.
Acting like he was going to swing, the man shot out a net, the wire material knocking Al to the ground.
"Alphonse!" Gritting his teeth Edward turned back to the man. "Hey wait! Is that a military uniform you're wearing?"
"Huh, Well it seems like some pretty mediocre stuff, but you have automail too." He observed Ed's metal arm, which now had a blade on it.
Squinting your eyes through the fast falling and wind whipping snow you took notice of a white bow keeping the tall man's hair held back in a braid.
Snapping out of your daze you rushed over to try and free Al.
"Mediocre, just cause mine's not tacky like yours?" Ed fired back.
"Fool! Obviously you don't know a good weapon when you see one! This right here is combat automail model M1913A; The Crocodile. Now surrender peacefully you miserable Drachma spy or I'll show you exactly what this baby can do!"
"Spy?! What are you talking about we're not-" Jumping back as the man swung at him. "Don't you hear what I'm saying moron?" Shouting over the raging winds.
Groaning, you held the net in your gloved hands. "Why is this so heavy?!"
Edward groaned, grabbing his shoulder. "What the hell shouldn't it be hurting? Something's wrong with my automail." Finding it hard to bend the metal at the joints.
The military man charged forward, jawed automail grabbing onto Ed's flinging him in the air.
"Brother!"
"Ed!" You shouted, finally able to rip the net off of Alphonse.
"Listen to me for a second!" The blond shouted at the man. "Your resistance is rutile." The chainsaw began to move, the metal sparking at the friction against other metal despite Ed's protests.
"Your pathetic automail is easy to destory!
"No you got it wrong, I'll destroy your arm!" Alchemy rang out as he slapped his gloved hand against the man's automail only for nothing to happen.
You all stared in confusion.
"Was that supposed to hurt?" Screaming, the blonde was able to wrap himself around the man's automail. "Stop! What's going on, why didn't my alchemy work on it! This things made of iron, isn't it?!"
"[y/n]." Al spoke up, taking his head off.. "I got it." Reeling back your clima-tact.
"What out Ed!" The two looked over as Al tossed up his head.
Striking it with your staff the armor flew through the air, the artificial hair tangling in the chainsaw of the automail, clogging it and freeing Ed.
Falling to the ground he landed by your side. "You okay?" You questioned holding his shoulder.
"This is bad. I hope I die here or else Winry's gonna kill me!" Holding onto his automail. "I hope she does! Do you know how much automail parts cost?" You scolded.
"That wasn't too bad, kid, especially with that ordinary automail you have. But it's all over now."
Humming in confusion you all tensed.
Men in white popped out of the snow, guns pointed at the three of you.
Raising your hands, you three show your surrender. "The Briggs mountain guard." Al gasped. "This is getting old." You huffed. "I don't want another gun stuck in my face." Ed claimed, looking back at one of the men in white.
Humming you all finally take notice of the wall, standing tall before you all. "A wall?" Ed questioned.
"Buccaneer!" A female voice yelled from above. "Who are they?"
The man or Buccaneer was quick to stand to attention. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there, General armstrong! I apologize for the disturbance."
Looking up you all staring at the blonde woman. "Armstrong?" Al awed out.
"That's who Major Armstrong wanted us to meet when we made it here?" Ed added. "Olivier Mira Armstrong. Major Armstrong's older sister!"
"But they look so different." You stated, comparing the cold look Olivier held compared to the lighthearted and joyful one Alex expressed.
"I'll ask again. Who are you?" She demanded.
"I'm the Fullmeal Alchemist, my name is Edward Elric. Major Armstrong from central command sent us here to meet the General incharge of this post. Now can you call off your guard dogs?"
"Search them!" She exclaimed before staring down at you, her teeth clenching. "But I'm with the military!" Edward defended.
"Sure, but how do I verify that? Anyone can claim to be somebody famous."
The mountain guard patted you and Ed while they looked into Al's armor. "What? He's hollow!"
"Oh, you noticed." Ed said with sarcasm. "Oh, you noticed." Ed said with sarcasm. Searching through your luggage one of the guards runs up bringing something to Olivier.
"General!" The mountain guard saluted, holding out an envelope he had found in your luggage.
"It's a letter of introduction from Major Alex Louis Armstrong. Just read that, then you'll know you can trust us." Ed called out.
Olivier examined the letter as Buccaneer made way back down to the brothers.
"It's from Alex alright." She deemed, looking at the wax stamp on the letter.
You deadpanned watching as she rippedup the letter. "Aren't you even gonna read it?!" Ed exclaimed.
"A letter of introduction means nothing to me. I don't put much stock into anyone else's opinions of a person. I prefer to judge the people I meet with my own eyes."
She claimed before letting the pieces of paper fly away in the snowy wind and up the tall wall.
"Which is why she hasn't been detained yet." Pointed down at you.
Tensing up you straighten your already straight posture.
Following the trail the paper took you turned around and gasped, staring at the sight of the huge wall.
Your lips parted as you stared up at the tall protective structure in awe. "Amazing. It's huge, what is this place?"
"Enter, Fullmetal Alchemist." Turning around to make her way back inside. "This is incredible! That wall is really, really, really tall!"
Olivier irked and glared down at the blonde boy. "Quit gaping like an idiot and start walking, before I tear your little body apart limb from limb!"
Ed screamed in fear, hugging your arm.
Huffing Olivier tossed her sheathed sword over her shoulder.
"Be warned I will not coddle you just because you're children. This is the mountain fortress, Briggs! Here only the strong survive."
