Zak Pov:

It's moving day.

Honestly, I don't think I really even registered what's happening yet.

Darryl. He hasn't been taking it well.

After he came over yesterday I have to comfort him since he was crying.

He said that he wasn't able to do it on his own. He said that he needed me.

Oh he doesn't know how much I need him, does he?

I stare at my packed bag as I think about the time that I spent here.

That time when me and Darryl met.

When Ranboo walked me over to his friend group.

The way I hated Darryl at first is funny to be honest.

I just thought he was a teachers pet goody two shoes.

But after that one good time we had together. A bunch were left to come.

I even fell for him.

This man has my heart and he doesn't even know it.

I wonder if I have his too.

I wonder if he loves me the way I love him.

Does he need me the same way that I need him?

Or is it in a 'I don't wanna lose my best friend' type of way?

It doesn't matter.

As long as I know he cares about me.

"Zaaak! Time to go, we're running late!" My mom yelled from downstairs.

"Coming!" I yell back as I quickly grab my suitcase and leave my room, that now holds not a single of my belongings.

"Honey," my mom said when I made it downstairs. "How are you feeling?"

I glared at her, "how do you think I'm feeling?"

She frowned and patted me on the shoulder a couple times before shouting again.

"Samira! Get down here, we're already late enough as it is!"

But I started to cancel out the noise.

I stared at the front door and remembered the first time that Darryl came over.

I remembered the first time that I went to his house, too. That time when he gave me that flower that just so happens to be my favorite.

"Zak! C'mon dude, we're late!" Sam, my sister said.

I frowned and grabbed my suitcase handle as I followed my mom, sister and dad outside of the house I used to call home.

T

he whole car ride there was silent. Except for the occasional 'do we turn left or right?' My mom would ask my dad since we've never actually driven to the airport.

I sat in the back and held back my tears.

I wasn't even able to see Darryl one last time.

A year made its way down my face when I realized that I'll probably never be able to see him again. But I quickly wiped it away in an attempt to make sure that nobody saw it, which of course failed.

"Are you okay Zak?" My sister whispered to me.

"Yes?" I questioned, though I'm pretty sure the answer was no.

"Zak, you're crying. You don't look okay to me!" Samira said.

"I'm not!" I replied a little too loudly.

"Kids, be quiet back there!" My dad yelled which made me flinch.

Me and Sam both apologized to our dad and Sam finally stopped bothering me.

I stared out the window and choked on my own tears so no sister would be able to annoy me.

We made it to the airport and my mother made us hurry to get on the plane.

"Ma'am!" My mom yelled to the lady there. "We have a flight for 2pm, we're a little late but can we still make it??" She asked with worry.

"I am so sorry, but that plane already took off. The next plane that will be going to your destination will be tomorrow," the lady explained.

This made me light up with joy. I have one more day to spend with Darryl! I can see him before I leave!!

"Ma'am please, we really need to leave today!" My mom pleaded.

"Miss I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do for you. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow."

My dad grabbed my mom by the shoulders and calmed her down and told her that he would drive us on the way back.

The whole way back my mom was sulking in the passenger seat and was obviously really upset. But I was living my best life. I honestly was really glad I at least had one more day with Darryl. I don't wanna move, I don't wanna go to a new school, I don't wanna meet new people. I wanna stay here with Darryl and that's it. That's all I want to do.

We made it home and I immediately started running to Darryl's.

I can't wait to see him I can't wait to see him!

I ran to Darryl's house even though it hurt my leg since it was still very weak but I didn't care. I needed to see him.

I'm almost there!

.

"I'm sorry sweety but he isn't home."

"...What? Where is he?" I asked Darryl's mother.

"He said he went out. He didn't tell me where." She said sadly.

"I know where he is," I said, not fully believing myself.

"Well then, I hope you will be able to see him!" She said with a smile.

"Thank you ma'am, have a good day!" I said.

She told me to have a good day too and I started to run to the place I knew where he would be. Or at least where I hoped he would be.

I ran through the forest as old water droplets landed on me and lingered.

And I ran through the branches that hit me in my eyes and jumped over the logs that were in my way.

And I made my way all the way to the place that we first really hung out together.

To the place where we fell asleep and woke up in the rain.

The place where I really realized that Darryl was a good person.

And I saw him...
