The day came to an end. Hyunjin showered while Felix laid in their living room while trying his best to ease his boredom. Out of the many shows he could have watched, none seemed to have appeased himself. But the news? Well.

"A total of 4 more bodies have resurfaced in the span of a couple of days. Signs showing that this supposed serial killer. Is not finishing his line of crimes, anytime soon." The newsperson spoke in his recent statement on the television. Felix only sighed, scared because there hasn't been an inch of power they've come across with catching the man and sending him where he belongs.

"The most recent body of his, was just discovered a few moments ago at 321 crank avenue, in an abandoned warehouse. In a gruesome condition." Felix's eyes widened like saucers the second he heard clearly what was said. He muttered to himself silently while repeating the words through his head.

But he had only sat there, still. Processing how close they both were but would he necessarily be a target? Was the serial killer aiming towards specific individuals, or did he have a plan set.

Small footsteps started approaching behind Felix silently. That it made Felix not even realize it. Without knowing how far in his thoughts he were. Both had managed to escape his own world.

Until a large exposed man came from behind and snuck onto Felix in a childish manner. Scaring him so badly that Felix threw a punch towards the back, but backfired tremendously when Hyunjin caught it out of instinct. And then they both paused.

Staring at each other blankly.

Felix was the one who was most shaken. Considering that his hand was still in contact with Hyunjin's fist. A tight hold was placed on it that left Felix abruptly confused. And it wasn't until the expression from Hyunjin's face, slowly changed and it softened when he realized who was in front of him.

"Uh. Sorry..." he spoke softly, slowly releasing his grip on the younger while he managed to avoid eye contact at the same time. And this left Felix puzzled with conspicuous thoughts.

'Why was he so on guard?' He could only wonder.

"I- I-" Felix couldn't manage to spill out his words. And yet he had so many questions from just one simple action.

Hyunjin. Who avoided his gaze, looked towards the tv and ignored what happened. "What were you watching?" He asked darkly. The change in tone was unknown.

But Felix ignored it. Not feeling the urge to drag it on when it could have just been a simple act of self defense, "The... serial killer struck again. And it was close this time so I just got—" "Worried? Scared?" He asked with a small smile; as if there was nothing to worry about. But it was uneasy how small it meant to him when he spoke of it.

He chuckled lowly, "Don't worry. He won't hurt you. I promise." Felix scoffed. "As if you would know. You're not him." And Hyunjin only shot him a look. A look that told stories he could not express. And feigning his expression with a small smile that hid it gracefully. "You're right. I'm not him."

A lie could easily be told by a master manipulator.

"Hey."

Felix noticed something was off.

"Wanna head out?"

But Hyunjin didn't.

"Where to?"

...

"Ah..."

____

"Hyunjin stop the car."

"No we're almost there."

"You will kill us by the time we're there if you continue to speed like this!" His voice raised the more the speed increased on the vehicle. In the darkest part of the night in the deepest part of the forest on a dirt road, and a crazy driver in the front seat who drives like he's on the run from a horde of zombies.

Was not how Felix imagined his night.

"We're almost there, stop complaining." Hyunjin nonchalantly answered with an unbothered expression. Ignoring how his friend next to him was clenching onto the seat with everything his small figure could manage to gather. "Besides, I'm having fun."

"Having fun doesn't mean you should be attempting to kill your best friend. That's not fun, that's psychotic." The bumps on the road shook Felix out of his seat, even with the seatbelt tightened on him.

"As if you don't complain about wanting to die twenty four seven with your dramatic tantrums." Hyunjin fought back with a ridiculous retort. "Saids the most dramatic of them all?" Felix scoffed before responding with a highly sarcastic tone.

Hyunjin hummed, "Fair enough." Before turning sharply to the next exit that threw Felix to the other side of the car that landed him directly on Hyunjin's side who was hugging the car door.

"HWANG HYUNJIN."

_____

The car finally came to a stop. And silence filled it almost immediately. Felix stared blankly through the front window, while Hyunjin touched up his hair in drivers mirror on the top.

"I hate you."

"You love me." Felix rolled his eyes at the fast response. Detesting how right he was. But what were friends if they didn't express the hate and love they had for each other on the daily basis. "Fuck off, now get out."

Hyunjin smiled and complied. Getting out of the seat and opening the door as Felix followed right after. And it being dark out, they had no other option but to turn both flashes on their phones on and collectively stick together like glue. Felix could only imagine if the killer was out there somewhere, wondering if he was near them. But truth be told, that the truth would never come to light if he didn't look closer into the clues.

"Why did we agree to come out here again, late at night?" Hyunjin faked a cough. Making it dramatic by increasing how loud it was. "Actually it was you. Don't pin this on me."

"You agreed. So half of the blame goes to you." A small laugh came out, and he looked towards Felix with lazy eyes but with a positive expression. "Fine. You're right." Felix hummed in triumph. Although he already knew he was given that win.

But there was a reason for that. A very clear reason. And it was the truth that Hyunjin secretly liked his best friend. And it had been obvious to the many around them. But to Felix? No. It was purely platonic. And Hyunjin understood more than anyone could ever imagine.

Hyunjins parents died when Hyunjin was at a very young age. But he hardly remembers anything about it. But he was raised with the only person he calmly got used to. And it was the boss of the organization his parents were supposedly under.

He helped him with everything. So to repay back the debt his parents owed. And for saving his life. He joined the organization. And he did everything in his power to become the person he was now. And the person everyone was most scared of.

The person he loved, was most scared of.

Felix came in later on. When Hyunjin first started school after begging to be able to do more stuff on the outside of the world. Because he had grown tired of going from place to place and never having even the sliver slightest of freedom. So when came time to finally be able to be out. He used that chance to the full extent. And when Felix came in, it was something he never wanted to lose. And it continued to grow more and more as he continued to spend time with him.

It was annoying and irritating with how long it took him to be able to go out with Felix. For him to hang out, and the amount of tasks he had to do to be able to have the opportunity to live with him outside the organization walls. Feigning ignorance with stating if he had stayed any longer in the walls of that place. He would have simply gone insane.

But it wasn't an understatement how much Felix meant to Hyunjin. Because it could be seen vaguely throughout their life. But it was the fact that one day... Felix would find out about who Hyunjin is and what he does for a living. Knowing it was getting harder with keeping it a secret from him. He couldn't think of what he would do if Felix ever found out.

Or he just simply didn't want to picture it.

He was used to this...happiness. And he would be damned if anyone took it from him.

Even if it was himself.

"You're zoning out."

"No I'm no— Ow!"

_____

The night sky shined with the stars that Hyunjin and Felix gazed at from afar. Right underneath the tree next to the lake they walked 10 minutes too. "Hey, what was that earlier?" Said Felix who broke the calm atmosphere they shared temporarily. Too curious and stuck on the events that he begged to have an answer for what had truly happened.

"What are you referring to? When you tried to punch me?" Felix pushed him over. Making Hyunjin tumble over and fall against his side. "Now we're pushing?" He exaggerated with a childish smile. And it was an attempt to get rid of the curiosity in Felix's mind. "You deserved it."

"Did I? or do you just refuse to admit you are in the wrong here."

Felix hummed, "Both perhaps. But that act of self defense was as if you were fully prepared before I even threw the punch. Did you get trained in it or something?" Felix asked oblivious to it. And hoping for a honest answer he wasn't going to get. "Classes? You think I had enough money to afford something like that?"

But his boss and adoptive father did.

"Can I not assume? It looked like something you'd only see in the movies or the books." Hyunjin sighed. He was losing his guard and losing the skill he had with managing to keep things like this hidden from him. But he was slipping. And he made a promise to his boss, that if Felix ever found out about hyunjin's secret title.

He would have to die.

But no he didn't want it to happen, and he just simply couldn't bear to see him lose the one thing that had kept him going in this world, that was within reach.

"Lets stop talking about it, please."

And even to Felix's dismay, and his huge desire to argue and fight with him on the topic. He managed to lessen the oh so curious part of him that wanted to come out. And keep quiet on the subject. "Fine. But you owe me after this. And preferably food."

That small dimple smile of his grew while his eyes shined, and hyunjin nodded. Accepting the offer. "Deal."

And the night continued before it came close to an end. But the end was near. And it was something no one could stop.
