In preparation for the prelims, a training camp was organised between four schools: Fukurodani, Nekoma and two other strong powerhouse schools. Luckily for Karasuno, they managed to get a place as well and that is what led you to this situation. A blanket covering the bottom half of you body as the heating on the bus had broke not too long ago and the frosty morning air was slowly getting to you all. Your bags that were placed between your legs on the floor contained multiple changes of clothes, a few of your favourite snacks that were delicacies in Miyagi and then finally a decent pair of trainers that could be used on the court if you were asked to help out again, which had a slight chance of happening.
You were sat with Koushi on the backwards facing seats and Daichi and Asahi were sat in front of you both. From your point of view their lips were moving but no sound was coming from them, and this was because of the music occupying your eardrums instead of the many conversations flowing around the bus. The vibration from the windows on the side of your head kept you in a calm headspace. Sometimes there would be a speed bump and your head would lightly bash against the glass pane but it never phased you once. You were halfway through your journey and the energy that you had before you got on the bus was now almost gone. Your eyes opened and closed slowly as sleep was trying to overcome you but you were trying to preoccupy your mind with the nature around you. Every tree that passed by and every time the warm sun landed on your facial features, you cherished them. The world only has so much to offer and it would soon reach its limit so you wanted to enjoy it while you could.
Unfortunately, your body won the fight over your want to stay awake and your eyes finally closed before your fatigue got the better of you.

When you arrived the first thing everyone did was take their things to their assigned room. The boys were in one room and then you were told that you would be sharing with Yachi and Kiyoko in case any late night arguments broke out just next door and because you weren't a male and the school doesn't permit mixing of that kind on trips. The other schools were all down the hall and to the left so there would be no disruptions from any of them during the night which eased you.
"You all set Y/n?" Kiyoko asks you as she puts down her last bag and Yachi was stood by the door, waiting for you both. You nod and follow the two females to where the team would be practicing for the next two weeks.
They were all warming up on the courts when you were met with multiple bright lights dangling from the ceiling and three nets were set out across the room. "Woah..." you mutter but Kiyoko still managed to hear and she chuckled at your amazement.
"If you think this gym is big wait until you see the one at Nationals" she smiles warmly at you before gesturing you to follow her to the bench and you did. When you got there you politely greeted both Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei and then took a seat besides Yachi. Kiyoko and yachi's role during this camp was to take notes on the opposing teams so that the team could adapt their skills depending on which team they were playing and your job was to help refill the bottles whenever someone asked for a top up. You didn't mind, you were happy to help but you knew running back and forth would use up the little energy you had stored.
Their matches weren't going well at all so you made quite a few trips to the water fountain and back. Each time they lost a match (which was every time so far) they had to do a penalty of diving drills or running up a really steep hill. You felt bad for them so you joined in on the running part occasionally.
When it got to lunch you all sat outside in the bright, shining sun. It was a hot day despite the cold morning air and you were grateful for the change in weather. "Here you go Tsukishima-kun" you offer the tall blonde male a slice of watermelon, which he rejects at first but after some coaxing from Yamaguchi he accepts and nods at you before you walk away with the tray. Three pieces left... you look around for two specific people and when you find them a big smile forms on your face. "Tanaka-senpai! Nishinoya-senpai!" You pick up your pace slightly, not wanting to go too fast in case you dropped the fresh fruit.
"You finally called me senpai!!" Tanaka spins with his hands on his heart before falling on his back on the vivid green grass. You find his behaviour funny but remind yourself to offer them the food in your hands. "Oh? Thanks a lot Y/n-Chan!" Tanaka gladly accepts the fruit and nearly finishes it in one go.
You then turn to Nishinoya to find him sitting on the grass with his knees bent and his elbows resting on them. He was evidently extremely sweaty and exhausted so you kneeled in front of him and offered the second to last slice. "Thank you Angel" he says with little to no energy at all which concerned you.
"Nishinoya-senpai are you okay?" His cheeks turned pink at the nickname but you put this thought aside for now.
"Hm?" He stops nibbling on the melon to look at you. "Yeah just tired and thinking about how to improve..." he seemed so down about whatever he was thinking about.
You take a seat beside him and eat some watermelon, making sure to swallow before you speak again. "Well don't think too hard, you might tire yourself out more" you watch his reactions as you eat more but he just nods and finishes off his food.
"Thanks for the snack, I better get back now" he stands up, brushes his shorts off and walks back down the hill not forgetting to wave at you before he entered the gym again.
You sigh and lay down on the grass, staring at the different shades of blue that were painted across the sky. The team are all so stressed out, it's obvious. They aren't speaking to each as much and sometimes they'll just sit there in silence...I wish I could do something to help but I feel like this is something they need to do on their own. It's only our first day here and they've already realised how much they need to improve, not that they are completely untalented because they are but it's been a while since they've had any practice matches against another team so they aren't used to adapting on the court to balance out their skills with the other teams. I believe in them though, all of them. I know that by the end of this camp they will all have improved tremendously and will feel an overwhelming amount of confidence. I hope I get to see Koushi beaming again...when he played in middle school he'd always come home with stars in his eyes and then boast to me for hours and hours on end about how much his team is progressing and how many matches they'd won that week. I missed it. Seeing him so happy. He is happy now but not the kind that I long to see again. You knew you wouldn't be able to get over your anxiety alone and if the team weren't there to be an extra backbone or your daily kick up the backside then there would be little to no hope for you but there was a small fire burning inside of you. You wanted to help them all, even if it was just little sparks of motivation here and there, you would help them regain the missing stars in their eyes.
"Y/n?" Yachi's voice comes from down below so you sit up to see her standing at the bottom of the hill, waving at you. "Their next match is about to start, you coming?" She holds her hand above her eyes to block the sun from blinding her. You stand up and brush some of your silver hair out of your face before trying your best not to fall down the hill and walking back into the gym with her, side by side.
The rest of the matches went the same, they lost each one but they all seemed motivated to try and win tomorrow, which also fired you up a bit more. Watch and wait for the right time Y/n...
