It was finally Nellies junior year and she couldn't be anymore excited. Just one more year and she would be a senior and then a college student. Her summer was even more amazing then her last one, mainly because she got to spend it with Matteo.
He grew out his hair and now it was a huge curly mess on top of his head, not that Nellie minded. More hair for her to play with. As for Nellie, she decided to grow her hair out as well and straighten it. She tried to grow bangs but the attempt didn't go as well as she hoped.
Currently Nellie was walking down the hallway in her cheer uniform as she made her way to her locker.
"Nellie Puckerman! How does it feel to be a cheerio again?" Nellie rolled her eyes and opened her locker when she heard the voice of JBI from down the hallway.
"Leave me alone JBI." She groaned as she tried to get the camera out of her face.
"Classic Nellie, am I right? May I just say I am loving your new look? It makes you look even more sexy then before." Before Nellie could reply Jacob was picked up and slammed against the wall by the one and only Matteo Gomez. Nellie smirked and closed her locker, watching this whole situation playing out.
"What was that?" Matteo asked with a brow raised.
"N-Nothing! Glad you're here Matteo, since I had a question for you too. How does it feel knowing that for the first time in years you're getting love and affection?" Immediately Matteo's tough boy act faltered and he let JBI go. Nellie frowned as Matteo walked off, pushing past people who weren't in the way at all. Nellie spun around to face JBI, who tried running off. She quickly grabbed his camera and threw it at a locker, causing it to shatter instantly.
"Next time you talk to Matteo like that it'll be worse." Nellie warned. The bell rang just in time and Nellie smirked before walking off, feeling satisfied with what she's done.
"You ok?" Nellie asked Matteo in a hushed tone once they were in the choir room. The boy nodded, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
"You guys missed me?" Jay asked walking over to the couple.
"Did everyone change their hair or was it just me?" Matteo questioned looking at Jay up and down. He had died his hair brown and had grew out the front causing it to look shaggy.
"Just you." Jay shrugged.
"More importantly, why're all the trophies in the middle of the room?" Nellie questioned.
"Yeah." Tina added.
"I was sure our nationals trophy would grow during the summer." Brittany commented.
"I want this image burned into your mind. This is what the difference between first and twelfth place looks like." Nellie rolled her eyes at the mention at their epic loss at nationals. All because Finn and Rachel had to get sappy on stage and kiss.
"Are you planning on bumming us out all year?" Puck asked and Nellie nodded in agreement.
"No. I'm planning on pushing you harder then you've ever been pushed. We made it to nationals last year. This year I'm not gonna let anything or anyone stop us from winning at all. I let you down last year. I lost focus, let some Broadway pipe dream get in the way."
"Don't blame yourself Mr.Shue. Blame Finn and Rachel." Matteo said making the two glare at him.
"Yeah, you know what I regret? Being the laughing stock of the show-choir world." Mercedes mentioned.
"And that's saying something." Artie added.
"Mercedes has a point. Finn and Rachel's "the kiss that missed" already had twenty-thousand views on YouTube, and the comment section is just full of pithy banter like why is that T-Rex eating the Jew?" Kurt commented.
"How many times do we have to apologize for that?"
"Don't know really. I think you should keep going for good measure." Nellie responded.
"Shut up Nellie."
"Watch your mouth Hudson." Matteo warned.
"The school hates us even more now." Mike mentioned.
"Which is why we have to work even harder this year to recruit new members. We're three men down."
Nellie frowned at the mention of Sam. The two were good friends, and it sucked he moved away.
"Yeah, because Puckerman couldn't convince Zizes to stay." Santana mentioned.
"She's the one that got away-really, really slowly."
"Oh my god." Matteo mumbled rolling his eyes.
"Where's Quinn?" Tina asked.
"MIA. No one's heard from her. It's sad, I miss her." Artie replied. Nellie had seen quinn around. She dyed her hair and completely changed her look, and she was acting like Nellie in middle school. Bitter and not giving a damn about the consequences.
"They will. All they need is a little inspiration....and I happen to have some, courtesy of Al Motta's of Motta's pianos. Bring them in guys. You guys are gonna love this." Nellie looked to see purple pianos being brought into the choir room making her raise a brow.
"Woah, wow, okay. If purple pianos involved with this, I'm on board." Kurt said and Nellie nodded in agreement.
"These pianos were repressed from foreclosed homes. They're cast offs, just like all of us. Used, in need of repairs." Mr.Shue told the glee club.
"But they're still capable of making beautiful music." Tina added.
"Right. So Mr.Motta, as a lover of the arts, agreed to donate them to glee. I fixed them up, painted them purple, and the purple piano project was born. Now I'm going to be placing these grape-y uprights randomly throughout the school and whenever you see one, no matter what you're doing, I want you to sing a song." Mr.Shue explained.
Jay, Matteo, and Nellie walked over to a piano and sat on top of it. Jay started to play it, Matteo was looking it over and Nellie was laying on top of it like a model.
"Look at you gorgeous." Matteo complimented kissing Nellie despite the fact she was upside down on the piano.
"Barf." Jay mumbled making Nellie kick him gently.
After glee the trio sat at Breadstix, hungry out of their minds.
"Dude, did you make a move on 'Cedes this summer?" Nellie asked taking a bite out of her breadstick.
"No. I chickened out." He mumbled. Matteo hit his arm and nellies jaw dropped.
"Come on, Jay. We gave you your script and everything. What happened?"
"I'm just scared of rejection, ok? Too many people left me and I'm scared......well I'm scared Mercedes is gonna realize she can find someone better then me."
"That's the thing. There's no one better then you." Nellie said making the Parker boy blush a little and give a small smile.
"Seriously. I don't think Mercedes would take anyone else but you. Confidence is key, dude." Matteo added and Nellie nodded in agreement.
"You guys are the best."
"We get that a lot." The three hugged and laughed, going back to their meal.

The next day Nellie, Santana and Brittany were walking to confront Quinn about her quitting the cheerios and glee club. Once Nellie came face to face with the girl her eyes widened, never seeing Quinn like this before. Normally she would be in bright colors and her blonde hair would be pulled back in a ponytail. Now she was wearing leather jackets and ripped up jeans. Honestly it was a little scary.
"Quinn, look, this is our senior year and frankly, behind on the cheerios isn't the same without you." Santana told Quinn.
"You guys are such suckers for going back to coach Sylvester."
"And you're not for quitting glee and leaving us all in the dust?" Nellie retaliated.
"Come on, screw her. This is for us. We could win two national championships this year." Santana added.
"We joined cheerios together, we joined glee club together. We all slept with Puckerman the same year."
"Say what?" Nellie asked, plastering on s disgusted look.
"We're like besties for life."
"You guys never understood the pressure I was under. It sucked. I'm not interested in the boys or the makeup or the polyester outfits." Quinn mentioned.
"That's rich coming from someone who was having a mental breakdown over Finn and Rachel a few months ago." Nellie said crossing her arms over her chest.
"Nellie." Brittany warned in a low tone.
"Look, I've got a bar of soap and a bottle of peroxide with your name on it in my locker. Come on Quinn, you can't break up the unholy foursome."
"People grow apart. Deal with it. I've got new friends now, and they accept me for who I am."
"Alright enough of this." Nellie pushed past Santana and Brittany and got in Quinn's face.
"The only person you're hurting here is yourself. You think changing the way you look and act is gonna make you feel better? One day you're gonna look at yourself in the mirror and realize this was all just one big mistake. And we all know the reason you're doing this. You're just pissy that Finn moved on from you and has someone else. Might not be the best person, but it's not my business to tell Finn who he should or shouldn't be dating. You need to realize the exact same thing. This year I'm done playing games with people. Either you realize you belong with us or you don't. That's your choice." Nellie spun around and stomped off, not bothering to look back.

Nellie sat in sues office along with Santana and Becky. Nellie didn't bother sitting down because if she did she knew something was about to go down.
"Ladies, I put plastic on your chairs in anticipation of this announcement, so feel free to wet yourselves with excitement. You three are my cheerio co-captains."
"Say what?" Nellie asked furrowing her brows.
"Wait, co-captains? With-no, no way. Uh-huh." Santana said gesturing to Becky.
"I can't work with them!"
"What did I do?" Nellie demanded.
"Nah, nah, nah. See let me tell you how this gon' be, if I may. When I look at a person, I don't see someone who looks a certain way or has this or that amount of chromosomes. I just see someone who I may or may not have to destroy. So if you ever tell me what to do, I will end you." Santana threatened.
"Bring it sandbags." Becky replied.
"Ladies, I man aroused. However, we have a more pressing issue at hand. There are purple pianos polluting this school, and I will seem week if it appears I cannot control my own workspace. I want you to track down these pianos, take care of themβmake it look like an accident. Santana, Nellie, you both like playing both sides, isn't that right? What team are you playing for this year? Losers, or winners?" Sue questioned.
"Team Sue." Santana answered. She turned to Nellie who just rolled her eyes.
"I still don't like you which means I won't be choosing." Nellie walked out of the office without another word.
Later at lunch Nellie was eating her sandwich at her table peacefully when Rachel walked over, looking upset.
"Why are you guys ignoring Mr.Schuester assignment?" She questioned.
"Wait, there's a purple piano in here?" Finn asked.
"Gee, wonder how any of us missed that." Nellie added taking another bite of her sandwich.
"We have to do the number, ok?"
"We have to survive lunch. It's not fair that Mr.Shue put the piano in here. It's too much pressure."
"I haven't been able to stop staring at it since we got here." Jay added staring directly at the purple piano.
"The point of the assignment was to find people who couldn't help but join, okay? The more people that we sing in front of, the more chances we have of getting one, okay? It's simple mathematics."
"Which I stopped attending years ago." Nellie snickered at that and high fived Puck from across the table.
"No, no. Hold on. Rachel's right. How's anyone supposed to believe we can go to nationals if we don't even believe in ourselves?"
It wasn't that shocking that Finn was siding with Rachel. The two had something going on which meant they were going to tag team whenever possible. Which also meant Nellie was about to getting pissed off a lot more then usual. However Nellie realized there was no fighting this so she took one last bite of her sandwich before standing up and making her way to the piano.
[We Got The Beat-Rachel Berry, Santana Lopez, Brittany Pierce, and the New Directions]
At the end of the number Nellie was panting heavily. However she was caught off guard by someone throwing food at Rachel and Puck.
"Oh god." Nellie mumbled. Matteo quickly ran over and shielded Nellie from the food fight. Jay also protected Mercedes from getting hit.
Once the food fight was over the glee club ran back to the choir room to clean up.
"I thought slushees were bad, but spaghetti sauce in the eye is so much worse." Artie mentioned. Matteo took off his football jacket and threw it on the ground, since it was stained with spaghetti sauce and spaghetti.
"I have pepperoni in my bra." Nellie sighed and held her head in her hands.
"Those are your nipples, brit."
"Mr.Shue, if you are trying to break us down to rebuild us, it's working." Nellie nodded in agreement.
"Not one single person was inspired but our hot lunch jam Mr.Shue."
"It's true. You suck ass." Nellie turned to see a girl walk in, causing her to furrow her brows.
"I'm sorry, and you are?" Rachel asked.
"I'm Sugar Motta, and I have self diagnosed Asperger's so I can pretty much say whatever I want. I'm like a diplomats daughter." Sugar explained making Nellie rolled her eyes.
"Great." She mumbled bitterly.
"How can we bell you, sugar?" Mr.Shue questioned.
"Here's the deal. I'm awesome, and I want to be a big, big star. And when I saw you guys singing and dancing in the cafeteria, I thought "I am so much better than you." Sorry, Asperger's."
"Amazing. We have a Rachel 2.0 in the house." Nellie bitterly mumbled.
"Well, great! You see guys, you have inspired an audition. Good job! Sugar, why don't you show us what you can do . Take your time, whenever you're ready."
"Get ready to taste some sweet ear candy. Hit it, hottie." Sugar instructed.
[Big Spender-Sugar Motta]
As sugar sang Nellie cringed by how off tune sugar sounded. She was like Rachel but with terrible singing.
"Her ears should get to park in the handicapped spot." Artie commented.
So a little while later sugar had somehow gotten into the new directions and Rachel had one of her famous meltdowns storming out of the choir room. Nellie only knew one thing.
This was going to be a long year.

The next day Blaine officially transferred to McKinley which also meant he was a part of glee club. Nellie was happy, since they were getting new recruits.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for Glee Clubs newest member, Blaine Anderson!" Mr.Shue announced.
"Thanks so much, everyone. I'm so thrilled to be here. It's gonna be a great year, I can feel it. We're all gonna go to nationals!" Blaine cheers. Nellie smirked and clapped along with the rest of the glee club.
"I'd there a problem, guys?" Mr.Shue asked.
"I just want Blaine to know that we're not the warblers. You know, we're not j to the bells and whistles or the ball hogging." Finn replied.
"I'm sorry, did I do something wrong?" Blaine questioned.
"No. Finns just being an ass." Matteo replied glaring daggers at the boy.
"Yeah well, he set a fire to our courtyard." Finn retaliated.
"Actually, doorknob, that was an act of political protest." Santana corrected.
"Which leads me to my next order of business. Santana, you need to leave. It was you and the Cheerios who set fire to our piano. How could you do that?"
"Actually butt chin she only threw the gasoline. Someone else lit it on fire."
"Wait wait wait. You knew about this Nellie?"
"Well, yeah. But I didn't contribute anything to it." Nellie replied.
"It's true. She was with me." Matteo wrapped his arm around Nellie who leaned into his touch.
"You're banned from glee. Don't come back unless you can be as loyal to this club as the rest of the people in this room."
"You know what? I could use a break." Santana stood up and walked out.
"That's not fair. How can you kick Santana out for something that sue forced her to do? For gods sake Rachel sent someone to a crack house and she got less consequences then that. You're the definition of favoritism and I'm getting sick of it." Nellie bumped shoulders with Mr.Shue before walking out of the choir room. She kicked the locker out of anger and walked inside the bathroom slamming the door behind her.
